"It's from the Bible!" LOL As a Christian...I did not know this haha. Peniel's name has caused me to make an embarrassing typo once or twice. I didn't know how to pronounce it either for the longest time, so I'd avoid saying it out loud at all costs. Welcome back!!!!!

Ya! Peniel means face of God! I didn't know this either until Peniel said his name meaning awhile back, but I actually saw it in the Bible too during Bible study session and lowkey freaked out haha

I tried searching it online and aside from Peniel himself showing up in the results, some Christian schools named 'Peniel Bible...' also came out :))

The first time I came across his name was Eungkwang saying it and that pronunciation stuck with me: I thought this name was pronounced "Pooniya" in Korean and "PEHN-i-EL" in English so now just switch between the 2. 🙃

"El" is another word for God, like in "Elohim", which means "God on high". Names like Nathaniel, Daniel, Ezekiel, Samuel, Emmanuel, and Ishmael all refer to God in some way in the meaning.

That's so sad to have a name that is seen as inappropriate. There are certainly some ethnic names that can be seen like that, but to be flagged in a video game is sad to me, because it's a person's real name. I can't relate. I am a girl stuck with a boy's name, but that's pretty much all.

@@Furrina89 My name is Brett, the masculine form of Brittany. Very rarely will you find a girl with my name. Some names are gender neutral, but mine is 99% of the time used for men. My mom read a book set in the 1800s that had a girl with the name, which was what inspired her to use it for me before I was born, but even in the 1800s, it wasn't a popular name for girls lol.
