This is why I don't endorse the NLT although I enjoy it when the verse is correctly translated. Nowhere in the original language (or other translations) exists the phrase "repent of your sins". Only repent and the context determines what you're repenting of. That's a fact. This also prevents the doctrine of working for your salvation as opposed to God's free gift. NOBODY falls by accident. All sin is birthed from within. There is no such thing as falling in sin (meaning we didn't intend or avoided it) as it is all willful. Salvation is a work of God and His Spirit causes us to follow and obey. we become a new man. We are not dominated by sin. But turning from sin doesn't save you. Faith in Christ does and works are a result of faith. Anyhoo thats why I don't endorse our church to use the NLT.

While I agree with MOST of what you said I believe faith and obedience are two sides of the same coin. Faith is an action word. This is why James said faith without works is dead. Real faith at some point will produce fruit. A person's lifestyle will reflect what they actually really believe. Whats on the inside will come out. Thats IF the person has The Holy Spirit. And yes works do not preceed faith but they do proceed from faith. My works can't save me. And professing Christ while living in sin can't either. God's first great command is love Him with ALL we have. And those that really love Him OBEY Him.

Reading a version/translation of the Bible doesn’t hinder anyone but its ignorance or lack of knowledge. They all reveal the same goal/motive. The only thing which is different is the wording. With that being said looking for definitions and meanings of words is important. Switch and learn from the different translations they were made for a reason.

@@billyd7887 your comment was such a blessing to read! You spoke the truth that 95-99% of church pastors don’t even know and don’t teach. Therefore they are churning out millions of false converts who will end up in hell because of their erroneous faith+ works for Salvation/ lordship salvation damnable heresies. Either a gift is free or it’s not.
