Omaze is the most obvious unregulated lottery I've ever seen.

The fact that these guys are so heavily promoting the charity donation part of their business, but are so secret with the numbers seems a bit off to me. I get it, they're a business that happens to do charity, but that's not how they advertise themselves.

Business and charity go together as well as tomato ketchup and vanilla ice cream, by that I mean not at all but if it does happen you create a horrific mess that benefits no one but the person selling it.

Well how can they survive if they don’t use some of the money for business expense…it’s a gray area because if they didn’t exist. Then their would be no money going to charity in the first place 🤔

@@donnyjay4269 Nothing says scam more than a charity than uses around 12% of the revenue for charity efforts. Donate to a soup kitchen instead. Or if you are doing it for the lottery aspect, buy a real lottery ticket.

I used to donate for prizes on omaze and of course never won anything. I stopped when I started looking into their social media pages and no one ever commented on their Pages saying they won and shared pictures of the prizes they won. It seems like this company could easily get away with money laundering if that's what they're doing.

Donating to Omaze is kind of like buying a lottery ticket. It's not about funding anything. It's about a negligible chance to win a car.

What I find very “Curious”…..the majority of the winners are in California and FLORIDA… if it’s truly random….how is it that most drawings are from California and FLORIDA?

@@CirculaTech as much in Sweden. It's regulated through taxcuts and rules based on the fact that it's a charity and therefore many times a non profit or a association. Some are partially funded by the state or the municipality. Welfare states, or as it's know by some American media: Communism😉

What Omaze is doing shouldn't be legal, or at the very least should be strictly regulated. I think if you were to poll all the people who gave money to Omaze as to how much they thought went to charity, I think most people would be surprised at the fact that it's so little.

A lottery with a commission for a charity isn't a bad idea. They should just change how they advertise the the thingo and the government should change how they regulate lotteries.

I must be the weird one here, I have never seen one of Omaze's ads. I think I have heard of them once before.

Even if all the prizes are 100% real (they probably aren't), it's still incredibly shady and immoral to advertise this image of being an awesome charity company when you're just an unregulated lottery company. It's double scummy: you're skirting gambling regulations, *and* you're getting people to 'donate' money to a good cause. Plus, it's not even a good lottery company. Like, if you spend 100 bucks on real lottery tickets and 100 bucks on a decent charity, you are both giving far more to charity, and have a far better chance of winning something than if you had wasted 200 bucks on Omaze.

The fishy way in which the alert the winner. They send an email that does not say it’s from Omaze, but they won’t say how you can identify the email. That way they can choose who they want to win. I get about 200 emails a day as I work from home. Many are people who have sold my name or political stuff I don’t want to read. I wouldn’t know what to look for. Who does that?

Omaze is a business. It’s a great rich make as much money as possible business. Omaze appeal to peoples charitable side by choosing charities that are dear to peoples hearts: children’s charities, animal welfare charities, cancer and other illness charities etc etc. If you have lost a close loved one to cancer then you are vulnerable to targeted donation schemes. The same if you have ever lost a child. I have asked Omaze how, in the UK, they choose which houses to purchase as prizes but they have not answered. Is Omaze a scam? Well they appear to have a stream of winners, though some say that the winners are associated or employees of Omaze. Do they donate to charity? Yes, but only a small percentage of their profits. Omaze needs to be way more transparent and increase the level of donations to the charities they purport to support..

I'm surprised this video didn't cover how all of the charities they support are charities most people have never heard of before. They're mainly the "shady" charities that take most of the money themselves and don't spend much actually being charitable.

I recently asked them about their disqualification policy and if they inform a potential winner of the disqualification and I further made the point that it would be unfair to allow them to continue to donate and even purchase multiple entry’s with no hope of winning…they didn’t answer on both occasions, so I would assume they don’t…currently considering reporting this to a consumer watch dog to be fair

Omaze needs lobbyist. Anything can be legal as long as the politicians who make the laws get their cut.

I learned about this company on youtube, and thought "it's a charity giver GREAT" and now that I know a little more, it's like you will never be a winner unless you are privately selected. This is crazy!! Like someone said, read the official rules FIRST!!

I’ve been watching omaze for over a year now, they’ve “given away” around 8, 100k sprinter vans in a year built from the same business. No record of the winners at all or of the vans they’ve been churning out supposedly. They used to post pictures and parts of the names of winners but no record if these people. It is legit a scam

This is why I started donating and putting in entries. I wanted a sprinter van and one of the van lifers that I followed partnered with OMaze now that I see it, I think she was “an industry plant” and it was a scam because shortly afterwards she was able to afford a cabin in the woods.

I love the Cornwall Omaze house, I live in the same town and the advert failed to mention the very loud ferry that operates from 6am until 9pm every day constantly being noisy and it never appeared in any of the shots of the house on the advert. I know it is marketing but it is rather sneaky. I have been tempted to play the omaze house draw and even entered that one myself but only with one free postal entry. I don't play lotteries as the chance of winning is so small but the marketing on omaze makes you feel like it is worth playing. I also heard the developers invest a certain amount to pretty much ensure they win the house back to sell on.

Thank you for this video! I thought to donate some $ to them, but now that I see only a small percentage goes to the charity I'm not sure I want to participate.

As soon as I entered their sweepstakes I got all these phoney emails and scams! Disappointed for sure! :-)

all the high ups at omaze will be indicted, just give it time.. Their financials will come back to bite them , theres no way to operate like this long term.

Every bit a scam. They intentionally shut down my account when I was supposed to earn my free entries. Terrible people. Evil business.

I think I had looked this company up a while ago because I kept seeing ads for it. I think the model is that you buy tokens to bid, rather than bid, lose, and pay nothing. Just like a lottery. They already have your money so whatever happens after that isn't guaranteed. Not my cup of tea. I wouldn't call them a charity unless they were donating at least 50% of their earnings. Because if 12% makes them a charity, then I'm sure many businesses would qualify. 😂

There is a ton of non profit charities that gives away almost the same percentage due to extremely high costs for ads and overhead…this is even more frightening in my eyes.

Great input! One think I really want to know if they use the personal info to sale to advertisers. I think that is the real question to determine if they’re legit or not? Personally I don’t trust any giveaways from anyone if they ask my full information for the donation process, therefore if there’s no PayPal option to pay or some type of similar option I would just ignore them

They do a background check on you, you must pass a math test, you must respond to an email within 24 hours of them sending it and you don’t know what date they are sending it AND it does not say Omaze on it. It sounds like they want to choose who “wins” and eliminate “undesirables” like people with unfavorable things on a background check, yet they have no problem taking donations from those same people!! Then there are those who may not pass the math test and those that don’t discover the hidden email. It sounds like they don’t want the type of people the charity claims to support to actually win the prize.

That twisted stomach story sounds sus. It sounds like an empathy magnet.

Misleading marketing aside, why would someone who wants to donate to charity go to a charity that has multimillion dollar prizes? These people all know what they are doing, they want to get a hit of gambling while also being able to virtue signal about it. I've spent years around degenerate gamblers, this is exactly how their minds work - any excuse to throw more money away and/or pat themselves on the back is jumped on without hesitation. Don't feel bad for any of them, if they actually wanted to donate to charity they would've at least been scammed by a for-profit charity instead of a lottery. Feeling bad for addicts is how they weaponize your empathy against you.

Celeberity experiences feel more like a make a wish area vs giving away cool stuff that everyone wants.

If you look at the percentage of donations many nonprofit charities actually provide to their cause it is very low. Most money is spent on soliciting more donations and running the organization. I don’t think omaze is unique in this.

You missed something in your explanation: 15% of lets say 10millions is much more than 100% of 1million, Omaze has a bigger reach so even though the percentage might be smaller the charity ends up making more...At least that's what they're claiming on their website

"Omaze has a bigger reach" that is hard to quantify though. Most nonprofits have an operating overhead of 15-30% plus a lot of them offer the opportunity of designating your donation to be 100% off administrative costs. If what Omaze does is to only contribute on top of what charities already receive, then yes, I don't care how little they donated, every little bit helps. However, how do we know people didn't "donate" to Omaze instead of what they would otherwise donate directly, not knowing that their 70-85% expectation is now a meager 15%?

PLEASE READ THIS: The customized Ford Bronco supposed winner announced on July 27th of this year (2022) was a “Beckett C” from Pittsburgh, PA. The Orient Express luxury trip supposed winner announced on July 27th, also of this year (2022) was a “Bryanna B” from Philadelphia, PA. Wow, really? Another Pennsylvania winner? Hmm, Interesting. Well, OK, I thought “maybe that is just a super-duper-mega-mondo-beyondo coincidence” right? Who knows... However - HOWEVER - then I looked up the adventure with Jimmy Buffett supposed winner announced on July 6th of, you guessed it, this year (2022) is a “Caralyn S.” Cool. But wait, OK so just out of curiosity, what’s HER Location? Pittsburgh, PA! What? No! You’re kiddin’ me, right? Nope, not kidding. But it certainly is amazing, or should I say Omazing? So, three out of the supposedly seven winners for July of this year (2022) according to the current Omaze website announcements are from Pennsylvania, and TWO of those are from Pittsburgh! I’m sorry, but those are absolutely astronomical odds. To me it really kind of smells. Smells of what? Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that, but when I looked the supposed winners up on their site (since I am a past multi/entry multi hundred dollar “donation” person and get a bazillion promo emails from them daily as a result) it basically sent an odd chill down my spine when I saw the three (!) PA and two Pittsburgh (!!) winners out of only seven total out of what must be tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of entries across the seven prizes/experiences. And so, I just had to go and check out their (Omaze’s) reputation online as I initially had just legitimized them through the George Clooney involvement and got started due to that without further inquiry. And this is how I found this KZread video and felt compelled to comment. I also found an enormous amount of BBB complaints. Then, add to that that they do not disclose an actual business location/address nor phone number, well, it certainly does not give a reasonable person applying critical thinking skills much confidence in who they really are. So there you have it - I’m certainly done with them.

I don’t participate on these things to donate to charity. Gambling is gambling end of story. Maybe is different here in the UK. I donate to two different charities of my choice. People entering these lotteries saying it is because of charities is pure BS in my opinion. I play the postcode lottery too, happy with their charities but again I play to win, the charity is a plus. My cousin lives 5 miles away from me and won 30K in 2018, I won 2K in 2020. I know a couple of more people that won postcode lottery too. With omaze I only started 3 weeks ago, so far I won 30 pounds on a,azon vouchers in two draws. The problem is people get bitter when they never win so they prefer to think it is a scam, until they win, then all changes 🤷🏻‍♀️. I know because I used to be like that. They would not be able to get away on not giving prizes or pretending they are people, that’s ridiculous.

No, percentage to charity and making money is not wrong as long as they are upfront about it so people know.

There's no way I'd admit to working with Bill Clinton in any capacity on my resume. Yikes!

I thought about that not too long ago, in the end I think that every work experience is positive because your employer's or company's motive and intent might not be yours, or it could be at that time and then you changed/evolved. (Plus you are only a fraction of the company, if they do something horrible, you didn't that horrible thing in its entirety) So it's fine to add it on the resume IMO

You're going to start seeing it everywhere now. Once you know it, you can't unsee it.

Catholic Charities uses 95% of donations for charity expenditures. Omaze should be required to state what % will go to Charity before the drawings. The drawings should be LIVE on TV. I like the concept but I buy tickets mostly to help the Charity.

Snake oil sellers. They create an impression, sell it, but reality is far from that. I support for the last 15 years a charity, supporting kids in Asia. I research, what they are doing, how much of my donations goes to covering cost, and their general reputation. If you want to donate, find a worthy cause with a low cost factor. If you want to win a nice price, there might be better options. Thnx for the clip!
