Is Nebraska the ULTIMATE Big Ten SLEEPER in 2024?
Спорт
It's June, so naturally we are talking about the potential of the Nebraska Cornhuskers to emerge as a winning team for the upcoming season. Will Matt Rhule and the Huskers take a B1G step in the Big Ten in 2024? Is Dylan Raiola ready for the big time?

I think most Nebraska fans, myself included, are playing it coy. We've been burned before, so it's wait and see. Show me!

100% Feeling very positive. Lots of potential....not every player with potential will play up to that potential. One snap at a time, one quarter at a time, one game at a time. Must get on field results. As Coach Rhule says, we're a 5-7 team until we aren't.

Great video. Thanks for covering the Huskers! Despite the tough losses over the last 7 years, I actually think this will be their breakthrough year. Their lines are the best we have had in 10 years. We finally have solid WR's and a talented QB. Our secondary and field goal unit concerns me. 7-9 wins should be a reasonable expectation. GBR!
We are always going undefeated until the season starts.. after the first game I can tell what season we are going to have.
Cautiously optimistic, I’d be happy with a winning record and a bowl game

With this schedule, I think that will happen. 7-8 regular season wins and a lot of hope for the future in year 2 of Railoa is to me the realistic goal.
Hell yes Go Big Red
Nebraska is always undefeated in the offseason. Sunshine pumping has mainly come from national pundits this time. Perhaps it’s really our time this year!
One bonus for always winning less games than you should, is you’re always primed to be hyped for a bounce back the next preseason lol
Watermelon Cherry Kool-aid chilled to perfection.
It's a tough call until you see them play, but last year we lost 4 games by 3 points and that team wasn't near as good as this team is, and the QB play was terrible. 9-3 is very possible. 10-2 isn't impossible. And our QB is RaioLA.

Like the "LA" - hope to get to that game.
It would be awesome if Nebraska could be 7-0 and likely ranked top 10-15 at the time. Then keep it close at Ohio St. we wouldn’t drop far and be primed to make a playoff berth.

I believe NE is a LOT better than the national media believes. If they take care of business and it put it on Deion as they should- 9 wins is the floor especially with a solid senior transfer QB on the roster.
EVERYONE is picking Nebraska to be the surprise team in the B1G this year, so I don’t feel like they’re under the radar. Purdue and Rutgers are my picks

Rutgers for sure. Schiano, like Rhule, is a builder.
The biggest turnaround for NE is in the turnover area. Avoid the amount of turn overs like last season, 9-3 is possible.
💯 - 🎯. Nebraska. IU will improve noticeably.
Their easy schedule certainly helps Mat Rhule and the huskers make a major jump this year.

I kinda see it as "two seasons" - we have a fairly easy short 6 game season to get everything running well, and build up confidence. Then in the second season, the model is tested with several tough games.
Nebraska is going to SURPRISE the college football world by going 7-6 this season!

This Nebraska team has been hyped into oblivion. How on earth could they be a sleeper team? Everyone in the CFB world is picking them to win 8-10 games. Dozens of CFB personalities are calling for them to be a potential playoff team.

Haven't heard one person say they're a playoff team
I got Nebraska going 9-3 this year, I do feel they beat the buffs this year by two touchdowns.
I think 8-5 is pretty likely for this team and honestly would be the floor in my opinion. They should pretty easily secure 7 regular season wins with the cupcake schedule they got this year and then I think they will have an absolute fire under them to win a bowl for the first time in a decade. Now this team also absolutely has the potential to go 10 regular season wins as well. The only team I think anybody can confidently say is a loss is Ohio State. Everyone else on the schedule at this time looks extremely beatable for this roster. My expectations are 8 regular season wins, a bowl win, and a final record of 9-4 with them either ranked at the bottom of the top 25, or just barely outside it.
A great season for me is 9-3 with wins against Colorado, Wisconsin, and Iowa and then a decent bowl win in something like the Gator Bowl.
I think the schedule sets up really well for them. If we can stay healthy I believe we will be 7-0 starting. Only loss I think is inevitable is OSU, other than that I think we can win the rest, not we will, can win. I’m excited GBR!

separate topic: 1 other under-the-radar '24 spartan player: rush end jones, previously played at iu (and at oregon in '22, where jones didn't play). 6' 4" 255, jones knew msu defensive coach wilt from when both were at iu. jones (from LV Liberty HS) had 8 solo tackles and half of 1 TFL in '23 and 1 qb hit (vs msu, who else?). idk where jones stands on the 2-deep for '24 sparty d-linemen. jones was another late portal add for msu, signing w 'go-green' after msu's '24 spring game.

@@aaronwestburyI wouldn’t say Matt Rhule coached bad in those games is the thing. One of his losses was to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl for example. That Georgia team was a year out from winning a national championship. Baylor wasn’t a bad team, but Georgia was just more talented. Also, you really can’t look at NFL careers and compare them to college careers. The game is completely different and requires differently responsibilities at each level. Lots of good college coaches fail in the NFL. The Panthers still haven’t gotten it figured out either, as everyone who comes in seems to struggle. I think they got bigger issues than the head coach. It’s too early to know if Nebraska will be good or not this year, but Matt Rhule is somebody who can at least get the program in the right direction.

R1Gged. It's the rust belt money machine if anything... college ball is BS, the NFL needs to own their farm league teams like MLB.
Does Nebraska have the same talent as the top 5 of the conference?....the west coast teams are going to be all done by week 5 o 6 ...just way different having to win 50 plays a game vs win 5 or 6 plays a game....can sneak a win here or there but having to play and win in all 3 phases of the game...none of those west coast teams are built like that...
I stopped drinking red koolaid years ago. Nebraska will start a freshmen QB so I expect more TOs yet again and under performance. Ruhle is the coach but cool your jets.
Look at their schedule... I mean it doesn't get much easier than that the first 8 games. I have them going 8-4. Starting off hot, and then cooling down. Does Raiola start all 12 games? I doubt it. What true frosh QB in the Big 10 started all 12 games last year and stayed healthy? None. We'll see... That O-line still suspect.
Win the first five games, and win them convincingly and I'll start to believe. The last five years have been such a SS that my mentality is only sip the Kool-Aid and show me on the field with consistent, turnover and penalty free play. Talk is so so cheap. I'm hopeful but not holding my breath. In the final analysis, NU needs NFL quality talent to defeat teams with NFL quality players.
i'll go out and say 11-1,only loss is to iowa
No
Sure why not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As a TCU fan, I will root for Nebraska against CU, but I don't see Nebraska winning 7 games in the regular season. I would _like_ for them to, as I tend to root for the underdogs, but I don't see it. They are the kings of 1 possession losses. I think Nebraska's biggest mistake was leaving the Big12. They entered a new region and disintegrated as their core players left and couldn't find regional replacements. Since 2017, they've been 4-8, 4-8, 5-7, 3-5 (Covid), 3-9, 4-8, & 5-7. I can see 6-6 + a bowl game. As it is, it seems Nebraska is the Big 10's "Texas" as in *_"Is Nebraska back?"_* each year. 😆 (Not as in wealth or infamy.)
Sleeper team BS, better wake up first. No O line or D line, same old crap …….
