Is my NEW $35,000 Sim Racing Rig Worth It? | Podium 1 Turnkey Build
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Huge sim rig upgrade today! I ordered Podium 1’s turnkey sim racing rig bundle and it is a perfect setup! From ordering to shipment receipt was very easy. Box showed on schedule and was easy to set up with a friend of mine. The biggest difference is going from my 32" Samsung curved to these 48" monitors. I always loved my 32's but this is so much better. We had to go to a 4090 to keep FPS up and quality up and it was worth every penny. The DBox feels the same and steering and steering wheel set up and feedback is very good. The pedals compared to my Ricmotech GT Pro pedals are on par which surprised me. Tell me what you think of this package and if you want to see any particular onboard racing please let me know. I will be posting a race in the near future.

Congrats on the setup! My rig is similar and I built it myself over the past few years and it’s been phenomenal at sim racing and also flight sim with a full HOTAS setup (I went with the tr160 rig and a Qubic 3DOF motion platform). You will love the monitors, OLED is costly but really brings out the immersion on sim racing and flight sim.

Agree! I did not think going from the Samsung 32” curved to 48” would be a big difference but probably the best change from my prior sim. The 4090 is definitely needed to maintain the quality so a great package.
Hey brother that setup is AWESOME!!!!🤙

Great looking rig congrats.
Liked your video and congrats on your new rig! A sim like yours would sure make the OFF Season go faster 😎 Mosport (sorry .... Canadian TIre Motorsports Park as it is now called) has changed significantly along pit road and the tower is no longer there but what an awesome track to drive / race on!

Wow! That systems so cool. I'm gonna wanta get my eyelids done along with face injections to prepare for the G forces. Thankfully there's no need to work my tri's.

Thank you…KZread experience and feedback like this makes it worth it.
The system is amazing, if i couod do it I would in a heartbeat. I have the asetek la prima with the forte wheel, love it, and the company. You got a great setup, haters are gonna be haters lol whatever right lol let em, you got a great rig, be proud of it and show it off. Add a red light (govee) behind the seat lol we all need a break light.
Podium 1 is #1. White glove service, through and through.
Awesome rig! So did they build and setup for you on site?
What kind of light is that sitting on the right side of the rig?
Excellent setup! I also went from triple 27 inch to 3x50 inch and the extra immersion was just amazing, almost 1:1 looking image. Hows the Asetek Invicta working out, have it on my proposed upgrade path - currently using a very old Simucube. All the best.

Very nice! What are you running for frame rate and computer to push the 50" inch monitors? Which 50's are you running? I do like the Asetek Invicta. I also went from the old Simucube to this. Not a big improvement but feedback and feel is very good.

4090/5800X3D, Hisense QLED TVs that can run up to 120HZ, got them on special over a year ago - very happy with them. The old Simucube was fine, but recently just seems to have a issue with maybe the driver card with all the detail gone. Figured I would just bite the bullet and get what seems the best at the moment. @@CharlieFerer
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Are there any VR options?
Sweet setup but they should of added traction loss with the motion for that price
Do you mind sharing your height? I just ordered the sim star seat and wondering if I’m too short for it lol I’m 5’8. Only asking because after ordering it I’ve been seeing some videos online where it looks too tall for the person. Thanks and congrats on the rig!!

Track Racer Chassis.
Congrats it’s an awesome setup. Am curious why you went with Podium 1 vs buying directly from Track Racer? Track Racer overs a turnkey Spec 4 TR160 for $22k. Seems you would’ve gotten the exact same rig for $13k less.

In what way is a TR Spec 4 with triple 34” monitors (way too short), an MSI pre-built PC with no statement of which GPU is being used, cheaper pedals, etc - the exact same rig?
I am just starting to learn about sim racing. What is the purpose of the 4th monitor?

Lap time , telemetry or streaming
You should consider moving the rig to the corner where the table is. Where you have it you'll get a lot of glare.

Great call but I always run with the window blind down. I like running with the room dark. I wish we had the blind down in the video and wish we caught that when doing the video. Bummer the screens were washed out from the light in the video but Massimo wanted some light for the video.
Heusinkveld is from the country where I live it is in the Netherlands heusinkveld comes from the uper north nearby Groningen ❤😊😊
❤❤
Look at joels real timing. Looks basic but its what you need for that top screen. Run timing screen 1
To answer the question of the title ... No it is not worth THAT much of money. Just add up the prices for each component... Also Dbox in itself is ridiculous regarding its pricing and there are much better alternatives in 2023. At this price point the simrig should also offer advanced tactile feedback.

Please look at list and do the breakdown with set up and freight and let’s see what figure you come up with.

@@CharlieFerer I agree with him! You can be proud an happy with this rig, but making it yourselves would save you big-money! The margin the company takes is huge. A breakdown is not needed, as you know this yourself as well ;-) You just saved yourself a lot of work and stress tho!

@@CharlieFerer Oh god. here we go. Keep in mind that i constantly took the upper-end of the price-range (and with EU tax). Getting the deals could save you some bucks. Right now around 21k it is. I probably missed some small peripherals, so lets round it at 22k. Yet again, not saying it is not worth it (as you have now an amazing rig with all the high-end stuff on it and you save yourself all the hassle. They probably installed it at your home right?). See you on track mate! (PC 3000, Aluminum frame 1200, Seat 1000, base 1200, Wheel 500, Pedals 1500, Shifter 1100, Handbrake 250, D-box 8000, Speakers 300, Headset 100, Monitors 3000)

Can't imagine the profit margin on these. Has to be crazy.
@podium1racing

If only.... considering the technology sector for wholesale has literally the lowest margin there is... Well known PCs, Monitors, and other electronics are notorious for 5% margin if that. We spend millions to get something decent.... Its not 40% like you would find in your typical big box retailer and the reason why they don't sell them.
Your pedals are actually from the Netherlands and not Germany. Heusinkveld is a Dutch company.

Heusinkveld is Dutch not German. They make some incredible products that are so good everyone copies their designs. pronounced Hew-sing-velt

When you are where I am you will get it. Meaning my time spent ordering these parts, spending hours installing, downloading, setting up is better utilized working at my breakdown of hourly rate compared to paying Podium 1 Racing to do it. I actually saved money having someone else that specializes in building sims than me doing it personally.
for this money you can buy a real car and have a team and go real racing
@CharlieFerer

I have a real race car. Feel free to watch my other videos. This is way cheaper than running a real race car and better practice to be honest doing the race series. A race weekend running Porsche cup for track entry, crew, fuel, tires is $22k for ONE weekend and that is if you don’t have an incident let alone the car. In relative terms this is a lot cheaper. Super Trofeo is about $40k+. Agree you can buy a NASA track car cheap (used Mazda Miata) and do that with friends as track support for $35k but racing is not cheap even in that type of series. A new spec Mazda is $120k. It is not the car it is the racing that is expensive.
