I used to play this sooo much with my older brother (RIP). He was heavy into baseball, id always go to his games and he would practice his pitching with me. I never was one to play team sports but he got me hooked on baseball. I still got our ps2 copy. I got a son now and I’m gonna have to play this with him and nostalgia trip out with the boy.

Still one of the best dynasty modes to play for sports games. You start out with the crappy stadium and have to work your way up. Amazing. I'll subscribe and comment under my channels 😂😂😂

The moving side to side in the box is actually a holdover from baseball games dating back to the NES believe it or not!! And yes it should be a standard feature !! Real hitters adjust their place in the box all the time!!

Short answer is yes. Sports games nowadays have focused so hard on being realistic they forgot it’s a video game and not just a real life simulation. Same thing with wrestling games, they used to be so much fun with the crazy mechanics and stuff you could do that even if you didn’t like wrestling you could have fun for hours playing those games. But I’ve tried playing the newer ones and they’re just so boring.

The fact that you could unlock all the classic stadiums and play in them even in dynasty mode, alone, makes this game the GOAT. And there wasn't just 3 or 4 classic stadiums... it literally felt like 30-40. There was a ton. Just no Kingdome, unfortunately. I used to play in the Astrodome or Olympic Stadium w/ the Mariners and pretend it was the Kingdome. Good times.

Still play this on the PC with awesome classic season mods.

Great video on my favorite baseball game of all time! Earned my sub, for sure! Hitting mini game is so fun and I'm loving playing the dynasty mode again all these years later.

Where did you hear that? IGN just recently interviewed a guy from EA, and they said that the licensing agreement is now over.

Idk what it was about 04-05 sports games but I just got done replaying tiger woods PGA tour 05 and that game is so fun. And ofc this is THE BEST baseball game ever. Also madden 04 went so hard

1) There was competition in the marketplace 2) The games were being developed to be as realistic and immersive as possible 3) The graphics were much better than they were just a few years prior. It really was a sweet spot for sports simulation games

MLB The Show 23-24 really messed up not adding Charging the Mound and Manager Arguments. Me and my friend use to play MVP Baseball for like 6-7 hours straight back in the day. We had made players with crazy names and stacked our teams. It was just so fun.

I need to get a PS2 and get this game again. This was my favorite game back in the day...

recently started playing this game myself. how exactly do you hit balls? I know you move the left joystick to choose wether you pull/push/ground/pop the ball, but do you also need to aim at the ball with the left joystick too? or is it just about timing an x press?

Yeah that was an oversight on my end. For whatever it’s worth, I do mention in my other MVP reviews that MVP ‘05 does have the best soundtrack in the series. Thanks for the comment!

You can definitely get them to chase balls out of the zone if you are ahead in the count. 12-6 curve on an 0-2 count is nasty on there. Throw it in the dirt and most will swing

They need to remaster this game, strictly for the graphics and make it for modern game counsels. Other than that, leave it alone

This on an original Xbox with the monster HD cables looks unbelievable.

This is the one EA sports game I never played, and I played them all since the first Madden on Genesis. After Triple Play baseball I was just tired of EA baseball. It was more of an Arcade game than a simulation.

I absolutely have to know how you played this in 2023. Did you build a machine, VM, I had this game and I have never gotten it to work on Win 7 and above. Please help!

I can't get it to work on well on my Windows 10 system. MVP 15 Mod doesnt work for me at all. And I have difficulty setting up my RAZER Wolverine V2 controller. 5th Pitch can't be used at all. Too bad, this was one of my most favorite games along with fallout

I liked it for a little while, but high heat 2004 was the better game. But this one is a 9/10. High heat is a better experience, but it becomes very similar and quite artificial and one dimensional, even if it takes 100 games to get there.

Graphics? No, they don't hold up. Why would they? Game play? Absolutely. Still the best baseball game ever made and there's not even a close second. It's not "nostalgia." The best football game ever made is ten years old. They don't make good sports games anymore. They just don't.

Really my only complaints about MVP 05 are the lack of different mechanics (like having a timing only system for batting for example, instead of being mostly directional based) and maybe a lack of career mode, other than that its a beast of a game, I can see why ppl call this the GOAT even after 15+ years
