Geez very nicely built player looks heavy also and that matters ! Funny you mentioned the MCD 600 A local audiophile friend of mine has one but he only uses for SACD playback - his going to have built in dac upgraded by Mac 😃 Their an awesome Co thanks for thr video 😆

@@lukedermott1589 neutral and lively, rich instrumental texture, good dynamic contrast between loud and soft, rich tonal colors that differenciate each instrument timbre

Is like my Cayin SCD 50T ..that has tube output and digital output and 2 toroidal transformers ...But that beaty is McIntosh 😍👌

i've been waiting for you to pull this out and do a review. Okay, here's my real question and request. Despite that this the pro-level Sabre DAC (used for studio D/A equipement) the fact of the matter is it's still a chip DAC. The conversion happens IN PLAYER (though one could connect MCT-500 and use that as a transport.) i'd like to know, how does it "sound" compared to, say, PS Audio's Direct Stream DAC + Perfect Wave SACD Transport.. That combination costs about the same, but uses 2 FPGAs. your team's seasoned ears would be much appreciated.

I LOVE the fact that other manufacturers are using the ESS DACs in their equipment. My Parasound Halo 2.1 preamp has the 'Reference' series, could not be happier 😊.

Two unboxing videos in one day, was this cleared with your cardiologist?😂 more seriously, I’ve always wondered about components with dual output stages. At the very least, a part of the purchase price is going unused all of the time. Switching the cables back and forth is a pain,and the alternator is spending even more money on a second set of interconnects. Adrian, do you know if any of your customers actually use both options?

Topping DAC for 500$ can bit the hell out of this metal box when it comes to performance .

OH...........Have that SACD of the Planets! Great choice! 👍You can't do better TRUE STEREO then Chesky !

I prefer separates.

I could plug my Bluesound Node into it and have the perfect system.

No offence to Cece & tristian, but I kidnda miss Alex and Christian editing / filming. (or maybe I was just familiar with their developed style - this isn't " bad " just new to me) I'll have to stop by soon so you beat me up for a negative review ..lol =) fair is fair that I show my face =) GREAT new unit!! .. For that money I would expect a custom designed dac implementation, not just some small surface Mount packaged ESS sabre chips. Also it’s subjective but I hate the aesthetics. It looks like the ideal hifi components for “The Adams Family” I know Mac fans will say it’s the hifi Batman would choose. But hey it’s all subjective imho.

I didn't like the mcd600... and turned it back...... it was like no highs no lows Bose compared to my other players...my favorite player, the Line Magnetic LM-24 TUBE CD PLAYER AND the YAQIN CD 38A tube players all use tubes,so this McIntosh might be interesting...!

isnt it bout time mcintosh embraced streaming sources or at least add an ethernet port to its DA modules?

I have no idea what was going on that day, but the way that 12000 McIntosh was smacked about onto the top of that rack was i n s a n e l y OUT OF ORBIT for anything $120 dollars, MUCH LESS $12,500 !!!! I own 2nd, and 3rd tier Mid-Fi audio, 33 years old that still looks like the day I bought it! Woe unto you in such aloof, lackadaisical dismissal. I’ve outright never seen anything like it!

A unit expensive as this, just using off the shelf Sabre DAC chips is a bit underwhelming.

It's not just about the DAC chip. But the implementation is what's important. McIntosh really knows how to make those ESS sing.

Remind me never to buy demo equipment from these guys….you see how just swings the unit up on the top shelf and it hits the bottom back edge???
