Is LeBron the best at this stage in his career?? ANNOUNCEMENT: A lot of you guys have been appreciating the new editing style lately… well thats because I actually hired an editor for the first time, and he’s Russell the same guy Apex Greatness podcast, who I’ve streamed with before. This is his channel www.youtube.com/@apexgreatness, and let’s get them WELL ABOVE 1,000 subs. They cover NBA History and hypothetical scenarios, just like I do. Thanks Russell for being my new editor!! So not only will you guys have better editing to view on the videos, but VIDEOS WILL NOW BE DAILY! This is definitely a schedule I believe we can maintain, now that I can focus all of my energy on the writing aspect, and I’ve got enough ideas to last until my heart stops.

Thank you Jonny for the opportunity! I was a fan long before we met, and this channel is a big reason why I started my channel in the first place. I'm also happy and feel great that many of you are into the new style for the content! I look forward to this new journey. P.S. Jonny is genuinely one of the nicest people I know, I felt this way before I started this, and now in this role he's been the best boss I could've asked for. I do not have to say this, but I think it matters and it should be said. Anyways, thanks everyone!

Dude… everybody who makes videos like this does it because they like money lol All you hope for is that a guy won’t lose himself in pursuit of that money. Jonny seems to be pretty consistent which makes his money well-earned to me. It’s easy to make videos and change your opinions based on what you think people want to hear (which leads to more money). I’ve never really felt like Jonny has done that.

The thing I hate most about this discussion is when people say Lebron is "only 38 and not in his 40s." He is 550 minutes off of playing the most minutes in NBA history (regular + playoffs). At 38, he's played 10,000 MORE minutes that Kareem did at 38. But then people act like that somehow is going to do less damage to his body than going to college? Kareem's longevity is insane, especially for a 7'2, 220 pounder who began his career in the 1960s, but in no way is there even a debate anymore, Lebron has the greatest longevity in basketball history and is up there in that category in all of sports. If you want to say Kareem is the greatest 38 year old then fine, but those two at 38 are not the same length into their careers. Kinda crazy that LBJ passing Kareem in total minutes played isn't a topic being talked about that much though.

If Kareem played in the same era's and had this many tools to use, chances are big he'd be even better at 38. They arent far off really.

When comparing either season or age, there is going to be some uncertainty to the comparisons. One could argue, like you said, that age is a more fair comparison than season. However, in terms of "NBA" age or "NBA miles" LeBron also would have gone through 1-2 more NBA seasons + playoffs - which to be fair - is a lot more wear and tear on his body than the other player would have experience in college. It's kind of hard to compare apples to apples unless we're comparing to Garneer or Kobe or others drafted out of high school also.

He is more likely to take a rest when encountering a strong team, but he still works hard on the court when he is against a weak team or the victory or defeat no longer matters. There are too many examples of this. Analyzing his scoring area, he is more close to the basket. He does not have the comprehensive scoring methods of Kobe/Jordan/Durant. His role is more like an enhanced role player, requiring everyone on the team to work for him. Sacrifices were made for his style of play, which is why Wade gave up the ball to him in the Heat, because he couldn't do what Wade could do. And what he can do is what Wade can do. He is a person packaged by the league who relies on the help of referees and is still beaten 0-4. Why does a basketball player have four media companies? In my eyes he will never be better than Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, Malone, Stockton, Drexler, Charles Barkley, Kobe Bryant, Curry, Larry Bird, Dirk Novis Key, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, not to mention Jordan, he is not even an athlete in terms of sportsmanship. He ran away when he encountered setbacks. He was just a super internet celebrity who used the Internet to succeed and was a coward on the basketball court. best Laker ever IMHO, is Magic. Lebron wasn't a Laker long enough to get that title otherwise he might have a good case. As for Kobe, he often wasn't even the best player on his team (Shaq was waaaay better for their 3 championships together, I mean it wasn't close). Where Magic other than his first championship where Kareem was the best player on the team, after that, every other title run, Magic was the best player on the team at that point.

year 20, Lebron the best to ever do it, age 38 though? I think Karl Malone as the best player on his team and starting 80 games was superior. Also Kareem as it was pointed out, even if he was really the second best player on his team at that point. Lebron only played 55 games last season, great stats in a limited time frame. So Karl and Kareem were better at 38.

Saying Kareem was better than lebron because of a 6 game stretch where Kareem arguably was the third best player on his team is quite insane when you think about it Kareem averaged less point rebounds assists in the playoffs than lebron but apparently only showing up for 6 games is more impressive so by your logic Jamal Murray this season is also better than lebron which is an unfathomable statement

Look, what LeBron is doing at this stage of his career is incredible. I will not take that away from him. But eras matter. When memes compare stats of Lebron in his youth and prime ( 08-14) to his old age now, its making it seem like Lebron is on the same level and or better than when he was at that young age. You have to be an idiot to believe that. This era is extremely inflated and easy compared to the 90s and 2000s.
