Your evolution is apparent in this video, from the morning scene with gorgeous warm light to your more abstract favourite. Reading your book, I'm tempted to say that Gobi has left an indelible mark! At my level, I seem to be moving in that direction too.

Nice photos and inciteful info about the geology of the area you are photographing. I know you have a international financial background but it sounds like you know some geology. I find that really interesting and entertaining how you present this scientific info along with the artistic creative thinking you express about the scene. Really unique. Thank you so much. James Sutton, a fellow Scotsman, is considered the "Father of Modern Geology". Love your channel and your pics.

Great stuff, Alister! Extraordinarily beautiful shots, even if considering your high level. I like the abstract ones of the rocks mostly. No more words concerning your attitude - I totally agree with you. Thank you ever so much, looking forward to next sunday.

Alister, you have captured three outstanding images in this video (from 13.35 to 17.00) - all beautifully crafted and visualised. I just love this sort of photography. And yes, there was a very important message here which I think a lot of landscape photographers don't seem to get. The camera doesn't see the world exactly as we see it . The images we capture on camera will always be an abstraction of the thing we are trying to photograph (however slight that abstraction might be) and we can use this to our advantage to create interesting images as you have done here to give us more of an artist's impression rather than an eye witness account of the scene photographed.

I loved the drone footage of the waves, did you not take any stills?

what's the difference between luminosity and contrast? thank you

Luminosity is how bright things are, or how light or dark you make a final photo. Contrast can be tonal, (lights to darks) or colours (cool to warm) or textures ( detail to atmosphere) it’s a big subject and I’ve written three books on it already ❤️
