Use the fence you took down to fill the garden back in, just convert it to temporary panels. Weld up some sockets to put in the ground for the fence posts, painted with galvanized paint and concrete around them, top flush with ground. Take some 14gauge metal about 3/4"wide and 2 inches long, drill 2 holes for screws and use them as clips to hold the fence up; back 1 out to remove the fence next time. It might work. 2nd suggestion- water your garden with pond water. Find a good spot and free fish poop for fertilizer. Pond water always seems to grow a great garden, way better than well or city water.

You seem to be smiling in every video now. I wonder why? 😁 I'm in the same garden boat as you. Fenced mine in years ago and eventually my age and the age of the walk behind tiller became issues. Got a PTO tiller for the tractor this spring and it sure makes quick work of things. Except for the many passes and angles needed because of the dang fencing. I'm also still struggling with lowering and raising it properly to not have ruts that I have to hand backfill but I suppose that'll come in time. Keep plugging away and inspiring folks.

forget the seals in those old gearboxes. just fill them with john deere corn head grease. works really good in gear boxes, steering boxes and other farm related applications, corn head grease is about the thinnest grease there is and it won't flow through seals but will lube the gears.

The duckweed is a valuable resource for chickens and livestock. Check out videos from Takota Coen, he incorporates it into all of his feed. I don’t usually comment but you are looking at it as a nuisance and it is a blessing if you harvest it and utilize it to cut down on feed costs. Just my two cents. Keep up the good work, so glad I found your channel!

That duckweed is full of nitrogen as well as other nutrients and would have been a beautiful amendment to till into your soil! You really ought to take time to harvest as much as you can and toss it in your compost piles with all the animal clean outs. You will have excellent compost for next year's garden. You will soon have a thriving garden, even without the weed fabric. And now that you're retired, you can keep up with the weeds!😉

I suspect you will find that trying to start a garden in July will not work out well. Too hot and too dry for the young plants to do well. They don't have the necessary root system to see them through the hot dry weather. As a result, the young plants that germinate will be stunted and late to develop. love your father's tiller. Also, you need to buy a walk-behind seed planter.

JudithB I just got my beans planted and still got to get cuc seeds planted. Local gardeners say to wait on squash and plant in July to avoid squash borers and beetles so hope this helps on the melons, squash and pumpkins too. Our frost day is end of October so plenty of time. I am trying to get this place mowed this week while the temp and humidity is better and continue pruning. We burned 6 piles of brush Monday, but fire season is coming quickly here in Arkansas. My barn has paths through it and with a fan it could be an inside cleanup job!!! LOL!! The pond looks nice and clean, but I would prune those trees up too!!

You can put tilapia in your pond. They will keep the duckweed down. Plus they taste great!
