    Yees, Jessie is a great vocalist. Firstly, she knows herself her weak parts of the voice. In one video, she said that her head voice is underdeveloped and she tend to oversing. So, she is a definetely a vocalist who knows and cares about her voice.

    I love Jessie J!!! She's an amazing and underrated vocalist. She's probably one of the most improved vocalists. Her lows are solid. She improved on her lows overtime. It's nice to know she can produce free D3s as a lyric soprano. She's an amazing belter. Her mid belts are so powerful, has great TA engagement, and core. Love the output she produces in the Bb4~Eb5 range. That's her sweetspot. She's mostly consistent up to Eb5/E5. I do hear some tension above F5 but she has some inconsistently free F#5s and that one G#5 was great. Her head voice isn't the strongest but it's the most improved too. Stevie Mackey coaching her did wonders for her head voice. Her whistles are full but kinda lacks the freedom. Some of her whistles sound like flageolet register. Her agility and vocal transitions are amazing. A total free range of D3~G#5~Eb6 is amazing! She's one of the best vocalists of her generation!

    Most of her belts from Eb5 to F5 marked as "tense/weak" sounded free or grounded to me, most with intentional distortion. A good portion of her belts from F#5 to G#5 sounded like they had intentional distortion in them rather than being tense of weak too. Same thing for the A5s. Her C6s in head voice in this video sounded way too grounded and/or free for them to tense or weak to me. The majority of her lower register from F#3 to C#3 sounded stylistically "whispered" rather than actually being tense or weak as well. In any case, Jessie J is absolutely a solid vocalist! I always knew she was an AMAZING singer, but didn't realize just how technically advanced she really was! She definitely surprised me with her CVSS score! I definitely enjoyed the video! Thank you for uploading! 😉👍

    OMG! I didn't expect her to score so well especially in the dynamics and vocal effects sections! She's incredible. 😅 Also her low notes and head voice had been underrated by many vocal channels before, but here you can really see that she actually has a pretty developed lower and higher range. Personally, I think her agility is slightly above Vanessa, so if Jessie scores 8 in this area, I think Vanessa should be 7 instead. Side note: The most extra acoustic performance ever @ 38:10 😂😂

  • @singitout7203
    @singitout72033 жыл бұрын

    I'd say my issues with this and why some people are so surprised with the scores are: it caters a lot to range, the wider your range the better you are at singing, it isn't only focused on how good your belts are but how high you can belt, ...on how good your headnotes are but how many notes you can sing up there, ...if you can whistle, and not even on how good and clear the whistles are but if they come out at all be it squeeky or twangy, as long as its there its just as good as anyone else's; then we go into dynamics, it doesn't matter if singer A can use dynamics in such a jaw dropping showcase of control, as long as singer B did it albeit average at best then singer B is just as good and gets scored like that. For instance, Barbra and Lara have better executed showings of but get equally scored with those that are average; Mariah or morisette would have very clear and confident showings of whistles but would get scored equally for a note that has vibrato whether it is squeeky or not...

  • @CamdenE

    @CamdenE

    3 жыл бұрын

    It does cater to range, I agree, but I also try to stress the importance of quality of notes within that range, and also dynamics are a huge factor in this (and scores Jessie 16 points) so range really isn’t all at all. In fact, range is only about half of what is being scored here, and only makes up 4 out of 10 categories. But it is pretty difficult to try to make a system that fairly scores each vocalist. I believe Lara is the best vocalist of those scored so far, but if I really was going to score her against the others it is no secret that she falls short in many of the categories, though overall I personally find her to be very strong. It’s way too late for me to actually be thinking about what I’m typing so this probably makes no sense lol but I’ll just say that where this system is at right now is about as close as I think I’ll ever be to making a valid vocalists scoring system.

    @@CamdenE I know this is an old comment, but I have an ideia if you think the "flaws" he has pointed out could became an issue: you could not count consistently tense/weak notes, like, doesn't make sense gain points just becaise they hited the notes imo. Also, you could do the points in a fluid and spectrum-like way... idk how to explain, but, like, instead of having a particular score for a free note (and ringing, grounded...) ou could do a range of points that a free note could receive like 0.5 to 1.5 free 1.5 to 2.5 grounded 2.5 to 3 grounded because this way you can not only judge a note in this 3 divisions, but can also judge their qualities inside of this "tiers". A free note could be almost grounded, therefore a higher score, but it could be boderline tense therefore a lower score but still in the free score-range Still love all your videos and looking foward to more (remember this is just an ideia and those scores I put are random)

There are definitely some categories missing. Jessie is not even close to Lara Fabian as vocal artist. She could only be better as a screamer, as are Christian Aguilera and Morriset Amon, but as vocal artists and musicians they are way below Lara, Streisand, and Whitney, as well as Mariah and Celine. Evaluation based on the purity of notes produced is like saying that Photorealist painters are way better than Impressionists, as Photorealists produce much precise/true-to-life color shades and paintings. It's the end result produced, originality/creativity/ingeniuity shown, and the emotions the performance produces in listeners that counts above anything else.
