Yeah Derick White is more marketable than Jaylen Brown. I also find it amusing how instead of congratulating his teammates, Jaylen is bitching on twitter. Seems like they made the right choice, don’t need that selfishness on the roster. Everyone is sacrificing, don’t need his inflated ego on the court.

Kawhi Leonard had ZERO business being on that team over Jaylen Brown considering his injury history! Second, you can't have three Celtics on there and leave Brown off when he's better than both Holiday and White. Third, the fact that he was FMVP makes this even more egregious 🤦🏾‍♂️. You can't fault him for being upset as this decision seems personal and not about what's BEST for USA basketball!

This is why the mainstream media continues to fail its audience. As far as player archetype, Leonard, Brown and White are all considered two way players. What does Derrick White offer that Jaylen Brown does not? I'd argue Jaylen is closer to a Kawhi level player than DW and he has the finals MVP to prove it. So if Kawhi was a fit and Derrick White is a fit, why didn't a single reporter press Grant Hill to explain exactly why Jaylen is NOT a fit? They just let him spew a complete non-answer with no push back. Hell, there is more evidence to support the NIKE conspiracy theory than Hill's "basketball fit" argument. Something isn't so just because Grant Hill said it. As for SAS and his sources. He SHOULD reveal his source because his source is a coward who PLANTED a negative narrative about JB in the media. You think this guy doesn't expect someone like SAS to spill some hearsay garbage on a player to compromise their standing in the league while remaining completely anonymous? Anonymity is for whistleblowers, not sleazy insiders who want to slander people with impunity. If you're going to take a shot at someone, put your name on it.

Derrick White doesn't need the ball in his hands to make an impact and he can make an impact in small role (aka not getting a lot of shots and touches). That's what he brings to the table. Can Brown and Leonard do what White does? Yeah. The problem however is that at this stage of their career you have to get them shots and/or touches in order for them to do those things. Otherwise you would have a similar situation with Ingram at the World Cup last year.

Love this podcast but how did they not know the Kyrie situation....they didn't research what Brown did in like 2020...and GRANT Hill wanted a team role guy....kawhi is a star..not a team role guy...u replaced a star with a team role guy that's a guard....they have plenty of guards...they need BROWN especially if KD is gonna be hurt still

If it motivates him to go ultra terminator mode and take it out on the league next season, I'm all for it. Is he RIGHT that it was anything more than a basketball decsion? No, of course not. Frankly, if I'm Grant Hill, I'm giving him a call and saying, "Hey JB, ixnay on the Nikay--I'm making the calls here."

Any player that just won the MVP in both the Conf Finals and NBA Championship on a talented team would feel slighted here. He was terrific guarding arguably the most talented and dangerous offensive player of the playoffs. It was he that time after time made the biggest plays for the Celtics when things were tight. After last's season's loss in the finals Brown was determined he was not going into this off-season without the Celts winning the NBA Championship. And what do you know he somehow accomplished that without wearing Nike' sneakers!

The people defending Derrick White are only saying “Hey he’s a pretty good player,” “Y’all don’t know how good Derrick White is,” etc. they’re completely sidestepping the issue. The immediate issue is, Jaylen Brown is significantly better than Derrick White. The broader issue is, is Derrick White among the dozen or so best that the United States has to offer? If you actually genuinely are dumb enough to think so, then you must acknowledge America has a *massive* basketball problem.

It's not about defending White over Brown or other available NBA players. It's about fit, which they've said from the start. And I think White fits far better with this squad than Brown or Leonard. They don't need more scoring, they need a distributor and elite defender. Brown would've fit the latter but not the former.

He is not significantly better. Stop it. The man benefits from a weak league..weak era..of OVERRATED players..top the bottom in the league. The man can barely dribble. He averaged..what..20 points in a FINALS and THAT is the MVP!?!?! He was not dominate…and they have to give the MVP to someone.

Yes, Jaylen Brown is right to be upset. Of course, USA Basketball is mistaken. Still, how he responded speaks volumes. Taking to social media is not a team play move. The American public can express their disapproval for his snub, on his behalf. Now he takes away excitement for the team and all the good vibes they have already generated. He puts both White and Tatum in an awkward position. I support his inclusion but his stance isn't making him any fans with the powers-that-be.

dm and still left off even after kawhi opted out. big grant hill fan but the decision and explanation begs questions. hill alluded to it being about roles and fit. but if kawhi was a good fit then the similarly styled jaylen would be to, wouldnt he? if they needed a player like d white (who is excellent at what he does) then why kawhi in the first place. and if kawhi was a good fit (he was) then why not an excellent similar 2 way wing like jaylen 🤔 listen, theyd b fine either way. cuz jaylen is not ball dominant, is an elite defender and can score. so why not go with the better version of what u need? and replace what you had similarly? yea, jaylen has a right to feel some kinda way. ps_yea i think clippers convinced kawhi to sit it out.

Kawaii, embeid and even to a lesser extant AD and KD shouldn't be adding games to their off season when they can't make a full NBA season. Especially kawaii and embeid who couldn't go in the playoffs a month ago? So there are 3 Celtics on team USA and the guy who won conference finals MVP and finals MVP isn't one of them? Yah it's more than marketability. Wouldn't be surprised if Tatum didn't want brown there, brown got snubbed for all NBA and all defensive teams and went on a tear winning MVPs and Tatum probably doesn't want to get showed up again, this time on the world stage.

Brown isn't needed. Should he be mad? Of course but White is legitimately a better fit! Brown isn't the type of player to just play a role. He's the finals MVP and would no doubt come in with his chest out running his mouth! Tell me I'm wrong! That's who he has been his entire career!
