My life my choice,
Individual freedom when it doesn't harm someone else should be our goal. This should be legal. You don't have to do it but it should be an option for those who want to. I watched my mother-in-law die from Lou Gehrig's disease and she would have done this if it had been an option.

I am so sorry for your loss, but this will be abused. Can you imagine the mentally imbalanced or sick people being coerced into taking their lives when they were not in the right place, mentally ? Saying. " You can end this misery now , For yourself and your family who do not want to see you suffer any more " For extra special circumstances, I can agree , but a law ? No, it will be abused by corruption.

The answer is of course a living will. Preserving people's choice if they become incapable of making the decision later in life.

@@neilarcher2551but what if the doctor refuses on religious grounds?
If someone is terminal and is NOT going to get better and has zero quality of life with any medication available why would you let them die very slowly ! Its a huge sad pain to themselves & all family members & palliative care teams. Its a hard thing to do but a simple injection saves so much unnecessary pain to all concerened, any sensible vet would say its the kindest thing to do & no matter how much you love your beloved family pet, keeping it alive & throwing more money at it wont help at all. Yes i know a human is different from a pet. Watching family members writher away slowly from cancer over many days without being allowed to even give them a sip of water ( in case they choke, apparently) is not nice. Why prolong the unnecessary pain & suffering !!

Thankyou for saying this. I watched all my grandparents die terrible deaths, Cancers, Alzheimer's. I can't describe the heartache. I wish I could say what I think of the people who are against this, but I would be shadowbanned. Let's hope those of us with compassion are the ones who prevail in this fight for our rights!
What more reasons for DEPOPULATION ?..
It should be an individual's choice based on their own beliefs and not the beliefs of others foisted upon them.
Give people the FREEDOM OF CHOICE.
Yes
Why did those deaths change his mind? It's about giving people the freedom to have a choice over their own life, so those deaths would still very much be the same way!
YES, Legalise it now! We don't let our pets suffer this much or you'd be arrested.

@@ebenezer9884 you trust the government that much?? What makes you think this will stop just at terminally ill people? You cannot consent to GBH or being killed in British law.

I supported this but I stopped after seeing what has/is happening in Canada. They have gone from the terminally ill to anyone including young people who are depressed, that’s not right. A pushy relative fed up with their elderly mum could push/coerce them into feeling they should do it. It’s open to way to much abuse, no amount of regulation can protect the vulnerable

@@ebenezer9884 You should go to Switzerland and Canada to do your thing, the UK law should not change because it is already good.
As long as you are of sane mind then you should have a choice.
Long as there are safeguards to avoid forced or staged.
No
MAID in Canada is pretty controversial I've heard
Anybody who thinks this would not be abused just has to look and see what's happening in Canada. This is not something you want any government getting its hands on

@AdAm-dd4jq Once the door into that taboo subject is opened, that's it. It can't be controlled. It's only a few steps from voluntary to being under doctors' orders because you can't be cured. Or you "sign" the dotted line because you're an inconvenience to somebody. Doctors should never have the right to euthanise another human

Assisted dying law will be abused twenty years down the line when it is well established .Especially when you see some of the officials who will be allowing it .
So Ester is implying she would have liked to put her mum and husband down like she did her dog, some might say thats compassion i would not.

She didn't say that at all. If you don't agree with assisted dying, then don't request it. But you have no right to decide for others, as they will decide for themselves. Simple.
