With the oatmeal cookie, you can make oatmeal with it by adding hot water to it, maybe some sugar, strawberry jam and creamer if you have it

Water is extremely heavy and you couldn’t fit enough in there anyway. Any time these are actually being handed out for humanitarian purposes, they are also giving out water at the same location. Most MREs contain drink mix.

I had a 2019 menu 1, the mains were both bean based, almost similar in color and taste

You can mix the salt and sugar packets with water to make an oral rehydration drink for diarrhea (pinch of salt and handful of sugar), which often occurs during disasters

Happy New Year mate! For some reason I've always been interested in the Humanitarian Daily Ration but never actually seen one. They always look like they would be an excellent survival ration, which is exactly what they were designed for. Thanks for another excellent video mate. 👍👍

They changed the color of the rations since the turn of the century. These were the similar rations that they distributed after the earthquake in Haiti.

I recently tried my first HDR. Mine was not as bland, as I had expected. It was no worse than A low sodium ration. Shame no drinks included on these. These are not exactly exciting, however, they will help hold you over. Glad you enjoyed most of the meal. Peace.

I like HDR mains. The sides are the usual stuff. I would choose them over several MRE menus. I mean eating that many beans in one day is a bit much, nom sayn, but they taste good I think. Lentil stew is my favorite menu but some of the other menus taste like they have maybe paprika? Idk but they're decent considering they're vegetarian (vegan?)/kosher/halal.

I understand the logic behind the vegetarian restriction as maybe two billion people or more won't eat beef or pork. Yet as far as I know, no one has restrictions against chicken meat except for a small number of religious vegans and dietary vegans. The same people who won't eat beef or pork will willingly consume chicken. So my point is to try something like, chicken fried rice with vegetables or chicken stew.

US MRE's are basically Chef Boy R Dee in a pouch. You can't go wrong with them.

Not the most exciting rations but there not really supposed to be, they do what they need to do and even though a little bland they do have surprisingly more flavour than expected.

They need a meat entree and electrolyte basr

Definitely a better menu than some of the others where it's just beans and potatoes.

Im surprised you twent for pop tart lol, but I guess being sealed that much for a few years would affect the taste a bit.

I saw these at the local market. They are sold for $6. You can also buy bags of flour clearly marked with "Gift from the people of the USA", "Do not sell" and similar. Keep sending these, make the criminals rich.

I’m a fan of these because they are vegetarian. I eat meat and hunt, but something about MRE meat has never been good.

Horrible stuff........it's what they give people who've been eating dirt for a week with nothing to wash it down.

Only good thing you can say about this ration is it makes turds

imo peanut butter was a poor thought out choice to put into a humanitarian ration if you are deploying it to a foreign populace as people who are allergic to nuts might eat it either not knowing what it is or not knowing the have an allergy to nuts as it is the second most common food allergy in kids and in adults and can be fatal unlike a lactose intolerance/milk allergy that just makes you have a icky belly and a bad time in the loo
