EU's GDP in 2024 is estimated to 19 trillion dollars nominal, 19,4 trillion dollars by the end of 2024 and 27 trillion dollars in GDP PPP terms. And GDP per capita of the EU nominal is 43 200 dollars in 2024 and GDP PPP per capita of the EU is 58 880 dollars. Making it well ahead of the Japan and South Korea, let alone Russia. It's on Wikipedia. I don't know your sources.

I've got the same problem, caused by Dzjayneeze Fake-Report BOTS. As soon as I mention the name "Dzjayna" in any comment they go loose. Resulting in YT blocking my Comment for 24 hrs, maybe next time 1 Week or something like that. Explaining to YT that they are ABUSED by Dzjayneeze bots makes no difference at all. KZreads AI is STRAITH from the Fred FlintStone Era and Level...

The overkill in the number of nuclear weapons ensures that Russia would be turned to nuclear ash in any strategic nuclear weapons exchange, even if that was not the case, the environmental damage would destroy Russia. When Putin talks of nuclear escalation in response to threats to the russian state, he is really talking about threats to the survival of him and his regime. The big risk is he is old, with little to lose. It is doubtful that he will survive very long after losing the Ukrainian war, so he could chose suicide by nuclear weapons.

@@Kodakcompactdisc depressingly that may not be true of the UK deterrent. The last test firing of a dummy warhead fitted to a trident missile failed. The war heads are British made, but the missiles are from the US. Since the end of the last cold war, the west has become very complacent. I have a theory about why the nuclear deterrent worked so well during the cold war. The US was keen to limit any nuclear exchange with the Russians to European soil. It was this American unpredictable and anti communist zealotry that made the Russians so unsure about the willingness of the US to use its nuclear weapons. The effectiveness of deterrents is dependent on the willingness of both sides to commit nuclear suicide. This is the basis of the doctrine of mutual assured destruction. Unfortunately, the Putin regime seems to have convinced itself that its hypersonic missile and nuclear powered drone submarine technology has made nuclear war winnable. It also means that Russia is now committed to a preemptive strike on the west, and the US in particular.

@@Kodakcompactdisc unfortunately the last UK test of a trident missile, fitted with a dummy warhead, failed. The UK deterrent uses Merv nuclear warheads made in the UK, but the trident missile is made in the US.

Hands up anyone who thinks the money put aside on maintaining their missiles was spent on maintenance. Maintenance on an oligarch's superyacht doesn't count.

Anyone who is militarily clued in knows that Russia's military is in serious trouble due in large part to having funds earmarked for equipment maintenance being siphoned off into the pockets of the corrupt military leaders. Nuclear weapons need regular checks and maintenance. Given Russia's abysmal track record in this regard, I'd be curious to hear from someone with the tech background in nuclear weaponry as to an hard analysis of a probable failure rate of Russian missiles. We know already about Russian ordnance falling on Russian soldiers and civilians as well as ordnance that failed to perform as designed.
