Hayley Garbutt, a 50-year-old grandmother from Scarborough, began charging her family for Christmas lunch three years ago as the number of attendees increased rapidly. Hayley believes that all families should follow her model, but she's joined in the studio by Vanessa Feltz who says Christmas is about giving and that you should never ask family for money to host.

    Do what I do don't bother with Christmas. No cards, presents, decorations or the glorified Sunday dinner.
