Is it necessary to remove the capsule after implant removal?
It is generally recommended to remove the capsule surrounding the breast implant during explant surgery. This is because the capsule, which forms as a result of the body's natural response to the implant, can sometimes become thickened and cause pain or discomfort. Removing the capsule can also reduce the risk of complications such as capsular contracture, which is when the capsule tightens and changes the shape of the breast.
However, there are instances where the capsule can be left intact if it is deemed to be thin and not causing any problems. Dr Mark Doyle will be able to advise you on whether or not the removal of the capsule is necessary in your individual case.

Yes bcs if there was any leakage it will still be in the capsule and be symptomatic
Do you ever take the implants out and then only take part of the capsule out after and leave some in.
how is scar tissue a "foreign body"?
I had over the muscles done in 2020 and then they were moved under the muscle in 2021 because of rippling. I am now getting them out in 2023. They are still soft. They just hurt all the time and I have lots of new GI symptoms. A couple of the surgeons I talked to recommend just eggplanting the implant. Do you think I will be okay? Only doing that? The doctor said he may be able to stitch back down the muscle if needed but they go back down on their own. Is that correct?
