Rowan Ives recommends The Irish Pagan School...
"The courses at the Irish Pagan School offer an in-depth approach to Irish paganism that is based on genuine history and folklore. There is so much here for curious learners of all levels to gain knowledge and insight on their spiritual paths while avoiding the misinformation that is sadly common in popular modern paganism. I have benefited greatly from the classes and look forward to taking more."

I think mythology usually contains a kernel or two of truth. Whether it's a recipe for a healing balm or the story of a warrior's feats, there's something hidden under the layers of fantastical details and legend, and that something has value of some sort.

thanks for what you do, jon. whether they are true or not, its the connection and feeling they give you that matters.

I think mythology has a kernel of truth to them; they are a history of the pre-literal societies of our ancestors. The Celts are unusual in that they remained pre-literal except the Druids, and Filideacht into the 'historical' period.

Thank you Jon for the video. You know it really doesn't matter if it's real or just stories it's what we have do you believe in. Also if that's the case what does it say about others cultures around the world from all times 🤔

I personally view the stories as tales, likely at least written with inspiration from the gods, that are meant to impart lessons or useful knowledge, but still aren’t literal histories. One phrase I heard regarding them ages ago that sticks with me is “just because they didn’t happen, doesn’t mean they aren’t true”.

i noticed a big difference when i went from reading our tales to folklore. most of our tales are about mythical witches or shamans, not so much the kings, probably because we didn´t have them (very equalitarian culture to this day). many kinds of bards or singers existed here too, it was their job to remember the old stuff.. while regular folks lived mostly in the present. i would say that it´s just two different traditions, that´s why the information seems so different (different focus, one myth, other reality). it´s actually hard to separate the bards from the other types of seers or witches, because bards predicted too.. for a bard you needed a good memory and a calming voice. but you are right in that they were more than just tales.. for one thing it´s the origin of both the people and the land. they only told the sacred ones during the biggest festivals here (all the local gods were invited, arriving dressed as different animals, each god having their own invitation and performance songs and dances). every detail had to be told and the stories lasted for days.. nobody in the current timeline would have the patience to even listen :) (search ob-ugrian bear festival for more details, only remnants of similar customs remain here, just enough to tell it was the same idea)

Yup. Served 5 years in the Blanch store. Returned years later as part-time for its closure to see the little red store off in style then worked in the City centre store for a time too. I still hobby, but not as much as I would like.

Since a child I have always felt that we used Magic for the Wrong Reasons and in the end it along with the Mythological Creatures etc, left our plane of Reality/Existence and entered another. If we ever prove being capable of wielding such power with the Respect etc it deserves, then it’ll all come back to us, slowly so as not to shock the system, but should we prove unworthy at any point the progress will freeze until we’re on the right path again. In other Words, I often feel like the Gods/Goddesses are our parents guiding us, we didn’t use Magic right etc, now they’re testing the waters and watching how we go starting us off with the Baby steps; we’re on Probation.
