IS IT JUNK OR A JEM? 1994 FORD L9000 AEROMAX DAY CAB CAT DIESEL TANDEM
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
IN THIS VIDEO WE PICK UP A TRUCK THAT I LOOKED AT A FEW WEEKS AGO. IT STARTED AND RAN WELL BUT AS MOST "L" SERIES TRUCKS, IT HAD SOME SERIOUS RUST ISSUES IN THE CAB. FIGURED IT WAS WORTH PICKING UP FOR PARTS. HOPE YOU ENJOY!

Love the Ford L Series. Have a 1993 L9000 with a 36” sleeper has 3406 B 425hp and a 13 speed as my welding rig. Have 4 other L series trucks as well. Cant go wrong with them.
She's a keeper 👍, I love the old Ford's
The L Fords are still one of my favorite trucks. Plenty of potential there!
I always loved the room inside a L9000. That one is solid enough to take a little time checking for another cab. Nice find. I wasn’t expecting that shift pattern, I was waiting for the last two swapped with the big hole against the dash ,,,, being an overdrive.
I was assigned a ‘95 Aeromax 9000 when it was new and I loved it! Cummins 300, 10 speed roadranger, Hendrickson rear and Jake. Visibility and turning radius was the best of any truck I drove.
I love the way you go over the truck every time you bring one in....teaches me something every time
Nice find Jc. I could see this contributing to many projects.
Looks like you found a nice collection of slightly used parts 👍👍
Nice Ford L9000 it should work for whatever you want or many other projects. Nice buy J.C.Smith looking forward to your next video stay safe.
That steering wheel is so cool. Good score 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The First truck I started driving around 10 years old was a '75 Ford L700 with a 427 Propane Engine. It was a 5 speed with a 2 speed rear end and to this day no cab or dash quite gets me excited like the ones in these model trucks! Only got rid of it in 2000 after the frame raile behind the cab cracked and it wouldn't pass inspection anymore. Sold it for farm use only and bought a freightliner FL70

More common back then than now.
That Fuller transmission shift pattern must've been designed to prevent impaired drivers from getting very far. That or maybe as a theft deterrent. Looks like a pretty decent find though.
I love the dash layout on those trucks….I learned to drive on one of those
Looks like a decent truck! Good Part out .
Hello from the Netherlands . nice old ford truck . thanks for the video JC . Sincerely, Hollandduck
I love these Ford L series trucks!
Wow, what a find. The Ford Aeromax is a great find. I know you'll do the right thing that fits your plans but with good bones like that, I would think about re-cabbing it and selling it complete. That could still be a good local tractor in the right operation. It'll be interesting to see what you do with it. You're a master of your craft with trucks. Keep us posted please.

i feel the same, a cab swap might be in order.
Drove one when I 1st started it was a comfortable ride.
The frame looks very solid. Definitely you’ll get your money back and then some for parts.
*Backyard BBQ and Body work!!* 🤣 You got me with that one J.C! Looks like a nice parts truck. Such a shame it's rusted soo badly. Always liked that body style 🙂👍 I hope you and Mrs.S have a wonderful weekend. Take care 🔧
Man I just love the Fords ! I drove a '96 t600 with one of those goofy 9 speeds for a while....took a bit to get used to it but it wasn't bad....gives you an extra gear up top before you gotta drop to the low side ! Hate to see it taken apart but I agree it's too far gone to be worth fixing that cab !

i will keep looking for a cab. maybe i will get lucky.
Metal mice!!😂 great video!!!
Same Fuller 9 spd. as mine- definitely a goofy shift pattern, took me a while to get used to it
I had a L8000 box truck. Was rough riding but very reliable.
We had these were I worked all with 3406c caterpillars great trucks.
The classic Ford steering wheel!!!
Ford loves those airsprings! I have 4 on a 95 Continental.
It’s a shame the cab is rusted out. The rest of the truck looks to be in great shape, but like you said there’s a load of great parts to be had👍

Looking for a cab with a matching hood before i take it apart.
Looks promising to go on the carousel of reuse! Thanks
That 9 speed sounds super crisp and new, it’s a lot cheaper to put in a hi-range splitter for the 9 speeds, that it would be to swap a ten speed with a 13 speed.

it shifts well. according to the trans shop i asked, this model is not one that converts.
I remember when they came out the first class 8 truck with good headlights
Drove a l9000 in the 90's mixer truck temp on it always ran around 200 to 210 but it had a 240 hp cummins in it
Good parts truck.
Shame about the rust, Those Fords were great trucks. We have a 20+ year old international s2500 that the frame and body still look like it rolled off the factory floor last week. A very nice thing about living in the south.
Interesting parts truck
Man, it's almost a shame to see it come apart for parts. I would wait and see if you could find a cab. Paint her up, it would be a great video series for KZread.
The rust issues in the LTs LTL cabs were around the widow rubber seal and the roof cab gutter
I used to drive that model at Giant Foods way back when.
I had an ‘87 LTL9000 with a Cummins L-10 and a 9 speed. I put a dump body on it. It was originally a road tractor. The axles should have been farther back, too much weight in the box the front end would get light. It did ok for what is was, but that L10 lacked serious power. Pulling hills I’d be down the 4th gear & 30 mph.
Joe Scmuckateli may want his truck back! He can have it . I like my Louisville not an Areomax ! Lol

They REALLY went down hill when the name badge changed to Sterling!
Much as I never cared for fords, I’d either set that to the side for a while and watch for a used/blown up southern one and swap the cab, or, I could see a cat swap to that Pete you just picked up (hurts to say that as I’m a Cummins guy lol)
I was gonna buy it I seen it on truckpapers but didn’t think it could handle the railyards in Chicago now I’m regretting not buying it she sounds amazing

i saw it when i was out and about. was going to pass it up due to the rust but it just ran so good. i think it is worth swapping on another cab.
Dear J.C. Smith projects family. 👍👌👏 Awesome! Another great purchase, congrats. I really hope that you will find another cab because this truck is and runs way too good to be parted out. 2) Sir, telling us even two times how great the air horns sound but not letting us hear them, is not nice! 😁 ;-) 3) I wonder why such a weird shift pattern was necessary. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and health to all of you.

There lots of those trucks out there got to be cabs out there
One might look a bit for a cab so that truck could be saved. Sure great potential.
There’s plenty of those still around here in ms. See tons of them as dump trucks
Here in Central Iowa, scrap is $70.00/ ton. Down from 200 a year ago.
i had a fld that had that same shift pattern its a odd one for sure. looks like lots of good parts.

it did shift nicely. would have rode better if the ride height valve was set right.
Are those rearends full lockers? I’m looking for 3:73 on hendrickson air ride that are full lockers.
Were they drink when they did the body work?
that one is almost the same one I had but mine was an 84 with a 3406 cat with a 9 speed and it had a 42 inch bunk
those dang rust mice. they eating all of the old rustys.
Drove an aero max day cab for a while and I hated it I just could not stand it yet I love the cl9000 cabover
Do u still have the headlight
Should recab this one
