Is it even Possible to go Backpacking with a Starlink?

I set out earlier this year to try backpacking on long trips while staying connected to work 1-2 hours per day with a Starlink. In this video, I discuss whether or not it's truly feasible or even possible to bring laptops, phones, cameras, chargers, cords and cables, a battery pack, and solar panels along with an enormous Starlink and router in addition to all the other crap you have to bring to backpack 1-2 weeks at a time.

Coincidentally two videos up in my feed cnet has a video about the star link mini dish. I don’t know anything about it so just thought I’d throw that out there. Best of luck, sounds interesting how you live.

Starlink is incredible by the way. I mean holy shit, it's flawless, and you can even make cell phone calls and send texts. I'm literally 50 miles from the nearest cell signal and can call up my mom and chat with perfect reception. Carrying it around however, hahaha.

wow, youre doing well if youre at 10k feet. its a battery hog, from what i hear. you would need massive solar for this, which probably isnt happening with 1 person. (im a fulltime rv'r; i have tmobile home internet, but have learned a lot about the starlink option). edit: you mention solar now...i dont know what panel(s) you have, but as far as i know you will need probably 300w at least of solar...or more.

I ordered a 100W foldable Jackery solarsaga that should be here Wednesday or Thursday. I hear in full sun it will get 90 or so. That's fine. I'm not trying to keep the internet on all day. I'm out here to escape the fucking internet, lol. But 2 hours per day is plenty for us, and that'll eat up 180W plus maybe 40 per day in charging needs. So I'd estimate our usage to be 220W per day. Several sunny days per week should give us pretty reliable internet, but carrying the thing with all the other shit we bring backpacking? Not happening for a long, long time!
