Listen to me: I play the sax a very long time and i could say The saxophone is an easy instrument to start but a very hard instrument to get a good tone quality. learn and listen to jazz, get some good jazz teachers and you are fine.

Unbelievable!! So great to hear from you guys!
Speaking to what you said, your are right because it takes a lot of practice to become good at something. I remember wishing I could pick up the trumpet easily, but hey, I still have to keep practicing in order to become good at it like I am with the drums and saxophone.
Most people can learn sax in about 1-2 months to learn from a basic level. I'm no muso, I came at this as an intermediate guitar of 6 years playing. Now im six months down the rabbit hole and truly now understand that to master a sax is a different level but such a fun challenge. im so happy with my progress
I'm actually gonna be playing an alto sax and you've made me more excited and happier ab it thank you
I have been a trumpet player for 3 years now, but the alto has definitely caught my attention this past weeks. Next week I will buy an alto and I will learn this amazing instrument.
I just got my alto come today ! Will be checking out your vids a lot !
I have been playing alto for almost a year and it is absolutely phenomenal you guys need to try it

According to most beginners, on trumpet the "octave key" is smashing it harder onto your face.

Great lesson. Thankyou.
This was really just a really good video!!!
this isn’t too related to the vid or anything but i just love this dude’s smile :)
Actually finding this video was a Godsend as the Sax is the instrument I'm looking to learn next. I've played both trumpet and trombone but you really have to have a lot of good breath to make a sound, to know the the sax doesn't require as much is a relief and to see its not as temperamental as other woodwinds, looking forward to getting into it soon!
It’s an encouraging words from you. Thanks.
I wanted to upgrade my DSLR this month, but having watched a few of your videos made me think there are other toys I'd play with. A few years ago I had little affair with guitar, but playing it didn't give me that feeling you have when you do something you love.
Cool. Thank you so much!
That was very encouraging!
Excellent! Thank you very much.
I recall back in 1980, the toughest was the amboucher; getting your lips to clamp down firm enough but not too firmly, for the reed to vibrate in order to produce a note.
New subscriber right here 🙌🏻 i always thought that i'm too old to play the sax because i don' have the money to buy one and start with it but your video inspired me to play and buy my own sax all i need to do is find a job to earn money for my sax wish me luck and THANK YOU
My grandfather played this instrument. Woman melt over this instrument!
okay but the octave part blew my mind 😭 definitely wanna pick up the sax now (once i have money lol)
Great Video! Love it!
I’ve been playing music for a little over 2 years (guitar, bass and dabbling in piano) and I always love when people add horns to their songs, and I wanted to do the same. I was originally thinking trumpet but sax is so much more expressive and beautiful (IMHO)

Really good vid. Thanks. It actually helps a lot.
As someone how has been actively engaged with saxophones and saxophonists for more than fifty years I can confirm that the instrument is in fact the easiest instrument to learn to play. Playing the instrument is one thing but playing it so that others enjoy listening is quite another matter. No instrument including the most expensive, the most expensive mouthpiece and reed can assure a beautiful sound. There are just a handful of saxophonists who have managed fortuitously to produce a sound that has quite rightly earned them the admiration and respect, fame and fortune that has been showered upon them. There are possibly an infinite number of considerations, factors and circumstances that have contributed to the total success of these few instrumentalists the most important being the total of anatomical features dental , oral, lingual, larynx etc etc with which these favored few have been blessed with. I myself despite the very best and most expensive being available to me just will never be able to achieve even the shadow of the greatness of the Greats.
You seem like a very kind and sweet person

What kind of music did you want to play?
I bought a trumpet last year, but returned it as I struggled a lot with getting a decent sound out of it. I had trouble getting the correct embouchure. Maybe it was my mouth or my teeth, I am not sure, but man that instrument is hard to learn! I also think I was lacking strength in my chin muscles. I bought an Akai EWI Solo instead "cheating" with digital sampled sounds by just blowing and biting the mouth piece to create a vibrato. Now you have convinced me to buy a sax as I think it would be easier for me to learn. As I can´t spend a lot of money, will a $300 sax be something to start to learn on? Any suggestion for that price range? I know the sound will be better for more expensive sax, but I don´t want to spend a lot of money first. Maybe buying a sax that I can afford to start learning and then buy a better one later. I produce a lot of music and I can add some reverb in post production etc.
Thank, you so much what is what I am going to play and I am in 5th grade I love you that you😚
I’ve been playing sax for 2 and a half years, I only last year managed to actually play my notes properly, I have a tip, when trying to play short notes remember to make a “t” sound ! Not a ‘fff’ sound
Ive always loved the sound of a saxophone. Been interested in learning to play it for years now. But all those keys do throw me off because of how my fingers are. I cant even type on a computer with all of my fingers lol they just dont move that way. Its really the only thing keeping me from trying
Thank you for this video. I wanted to play the saxophone but the band director at my school wouldn't allow me to unless I played clarinet for a year. I was a young 6th grader so this led me to go a different path and play the trumpet. I played it for 7 years and liked it, but it just became. too difficult for me to play the high notes. I never could figure out how to get my lips to do what I wanted them to do and eventually quit the instrument my junior year. I am 36 now and often wish I could play the saxophone. I am glad I found this channel and maybe it can help me start to teach myself the instrument. I have been reading reviews on saxophones. It has led me to the Yamaha YAS-280. What do you think about that? Thanks again!

Thank you so much for your lovely videos which I find really helpful and a true joy to watch. Very best wishes from Carolyn

What kind of saxophone would you suggest to purchase to be best suitable for playing Jazz? And for beginners as well? Thanks!
Hey, I'm playing trumpet, I would like to learn saxophone, but there's a question I have. When playing trumpet, to get a higher note, you have to squeeze your lips, like for reaching C3, does saxophone have C3,C4..... or it only has like C1-C3? Thank you
Your AWESOME 🎷
I would love to try learning the saxophone however I feel I’m too old!

My pleasure! I haven't actually played any of those saxophones specifically so unfortunately I can't give any recommendations for those particular models, but in general, I like to recommend the Yamaha saxophones (particularly second hand YTS-23, YTS-26 and YTS-100) as being the best overall value and quality for beginners. What happens if you take the reed piece off, and blow into the sax like a trumpet?
Sax is definitely super easy to pick up. The worst part is simply not wrecking your reed, which isn't too hard. But it gets sooo hard from there. It's easy to play the notes, but breath support and tone take a long time to develop, and that's still ignoring overtones and altissimo

Which saxophone is the easiest to learn for someone who needs to learn how to read music
I would say the sax is hard to learn but is easier than the flute and clarinet since the ergonics and blowing is easier.
The trumpet is also very easy to learn
