That's because dogs chose to be domesticated. The smashing into walls is a culture shock repercussion for wild animals that aren't remotely domesticated, and most of the time not even tame. Even in zoos that meet an animal's needs as much as possible, even if the animal's lifespan is increased, they simply don't have the space to keep them truly content. It's like keeping a depressed person on life support.

Ultimately, when people are envious of animal lives, they're envious of the loving homes and supportive owners (love, affection, being able to express needs and wants with minimal backlash or genuine encouragement, you're hygiene outside of own grooming is taken care of with essentially spa days with groomers), an ease of burden (not fending for your own food, being allowed inside a home to live in, but to also go out and be played with, + exercise with long walks). It's rare to see someone say oh, they'd want to be a livestock dog, or a fighting dog, or a stray/ abandoned. You do see wild dog people, and power to 'em. They've been through it and don't blame 'em. People say similar about cats, and any domestic creature. It's what we crave. A loving pack and our basic needs met, without a constant threat of it being taken away at a moment's notice. Get taught manners and you're cared about. You do your extra tasks (tricks) and you get a nice extra yummy reward. Hope this caller gets through this time to better ones

Do other things, walk for 30 minutes a day, start a routine: wake up at a certain time, have coffee, eat breakfast, brush your teeth, do the dishes, clean up your room or house (a little, not a deep clean, a little each day), After you have digested after 2 hours from breakfast, go for a walk or bike ride, shower, go to work, or do other hobbies, or start a new hobby, have lunch, take a break for about 30 minutes of quiet time, no TV, no electronics, no radio, nothing with screens or speakers... you can read a book or comics, afterwards do some organizing or planning (make a financial plan for the week), just keep yourself busy and do more! "The more you do, the more you can do!" Just get out of your normal habits and get out and do something! You can't smoke or play video games tho!
