I started playing iracing last year. Have not played due to cost because I was in college and could barely use it. I loved the game, I ran vr on hp reverb g2 and it was amazing until the vr cable broke and its a $200 replacement that I at this time am not doing. I went to triple monitor setup 1080p 144hz max settings. I need to adjust my setup but I have enjoyed it a lot. I wish I have more time to play iracing to justify its cost, but I have had no issues with the UI and think its fine as is.

i run max graphics on a 3070 and it looks really good and I agree on the when you're engaged comment makes it most fun, the physics are great and overhauls the bad graphics imo. I race gt4 grinding into gt3/hypercar

if you want a game to just jump on and do races without practice, iracing isnt the game for you. But it has the best competition and feel overall. Just got to put intime

For anyone who's hesitant, I bought the promo via epic games, 8bucks for 3 months, even if it is just to see what's like , the competition is unmatched honestly , really enjoying the mx5 and rookie D class, despite sometimes a race can be ruined in lap 1 but hey it is what it is. Not sure if I'm willing to sink more money after the 3 month period but at least I'll have first hand experience Almost forgot to mention they just give you a code for iracing, no need to run epic games launcher

As good as the racing may be, I can't get over the business model and gouging that is i-Racing. AMS2 or ACC for me if I were using my PC.

Its not though.. do you know how much work goes into scanning tracks and building an accurate car in a sim? Doubt it. Hundreds of thousands of dollars, and of course they wanna to profit.. its business.

gameplay > graphics but I do think it turns shallow people off :) Showed my buddy and clip, only comment he had was "terrible graphics." I think its shallow since the gameplay makes up for it, but the fact is, alot of people will always judge a book by its cover.

iRacing have started improving track graphics with the release of the Willow Springs track with a promise to start overhauling existing tracks. I run a RTX 3090 with everything set on its highest setting and it looks great. If I were streaming (and it is something I am looking into at the moment), I would definately look at an external capture device, allowing me to still run everything on max settings without any CPU/GPU overload.

@Kireth yeah, that might make a difference. I also found that using a m.2 NVME hard drive helps with any cpu bottle necking and speeds up any system.

Very true about the graphics - was turned off for quite a while (why pay top dollar for something outdated) as most streams of iRacing look pretty average on KZread (probably due to FPS geared settings on triple monitors) Reality is the game on high settings with Nvidia filters / reshade actually looks very good with excellent detail - much easier to get looking good in 1440p on a 3070 than ACC (with almost twice the FPS).

I got half a year for 7$ with regional price on Steam sale, but sadly there's no sales or regional prices for cars and tracks...

I'd say it depends. If you're really into GT3/GT4 racing ACC would probably fill the void for most. And it seems that RF2 has rolled out a ladder system called Race control, similar to Iracing. Time will tell to see if they pull any iracers away. But Ovals? Nope, nothing else is even close. Iracing has a stronghold on that unfortunately. As expensive as it is, the ability to jump into an official race pretty much every hour is truly something else. Anyone on the fence should at least try one of those 3 month deals and see if it works for them.

2 months into iRacing after 1800h ACC and already bought all road tracks (just a couple left to buy), GT3's & GTE's all bought because I'm interested in those. Later I'll buy also the higher class cars If I decide to race with it. Sub I do it Auto monthy via steam cause maybe I get pc problems where I can't race for a while so then I don't waste sub money. (but still maybe I should go for a year....)

I play GT7 exclusively as I only have access to my PS4 & PS5, I'm interested in iRacing purely from a racing and content point of view. While GT7 looks lovely, I would much rather the lobbies worked and the cars were up to date.

Go with ACC. Iracing is expensive and not as active as you'd think by watching these videos. Been trying for a month now to do my rookie races. Everyone leaves the lobby b4 the race starts.

i also run a g pro dd wheel base and im fairly new to dd sim racing in general is there anyway you could do a vide on your ffb setting on your wheel in certain games i play gt7 for the most part but would be cool even if you could do a google doc or some of your ffb setting on each game like i said im fairly new to sim racing and idk if how my wheel feels is the way its supposed to feel if you know what i mean any help would be great

Le Mans 24 hours is actually back but it’s not the official Le Mans license since msg bought the license but in august there will be a 24 hour race at le mans

It's not official licence, you can't name it LeMans 24h but still there can be 24h race on the track, nobody can't say iracing can't do a race on LeMans. So I don't understand all the noise about it.

@@DuM3D0 we always had the iracing 24 hours of Le Mans in June. Now we have to rely on 3rd party communities to host it. Or see if there is going to be a 24 hour series but like Indycar iRacing can’t race on any indycar track with the indycar unless someone hosts it but it can’t be streamed. So it is ruining sim racing for everyone

@@DuM3D0 iRacing can’t host their official 24 hours Le Mans special event so Majors decided to host their own with no affiliation to iRacing itself and they could host the race because it’s from the community and not the iRacing company.

Racing among friends is one thing. Doing it on the public servers is another. The amount of people that think they are the next one to go real life racing and get paid for it is unreal. Please remember people your paying to use the service, not being paid to be on it.

I prefer the iracing graphics over F1 23 graphics. And I can run F1 23 on maxed out settings smoothly. They tried to make it way too "cool" instead of real. Those hard contrasts, the self-illuminated textures and the extremely harsh blacks in this game... most of the cockpit is 100% black, so are darker parts on cars. WTF. That's soooo far from real... and it looks fugly. Go iRacing!

I would get into iracing but that cost man... just to do one series is going to cost a lot of money and the fact that its a subscription and not a one time buy.

You definitely have to pick one series you want to run and then just slowly and as cheap as possible get to that series, I like oval racing so it was cheaper for me (less cars to buy) but I think it's worth it just for the racing you get lol

Why when I try to do my rookie race everyone leaves the server and I'm stuck alone? I sat in my rig for 4 hours the other night trying to do a rookie race. No matter what I did I ended up alone and kicked out of any session. What am I doing wrong?

Look at the schedule of the series you want to run. Then check the results. There you can see how many splits are running at a specific time. When less than 7 (?) cars are participating, the race does not count.

You're signing up for practice only. You can only sign up for the race when it's 30 minutes until the race start time.

If you mean can you drive a track with no other drivers, then yes, you can go into a test drive session or a time trial session. These are private and as long as you own the track/car, you can spend as much time as you like learning/honing skills at each track. Practice sessions attached to a race event are not private.

why is it a subscription based game though? It's not so far ahead of any other game that makes it absolutely worth it. I think anyone that just continues to pay for it are lying to themselves about it being worth it. Either that or just don't care about overpaying.

@@mgerimits a racing simulator.. a racing simulator is a racing simulator. The end goal is racing realism.. that doesnt go out of fashion. This isnt some fiction like world of warcraft. In addition, the biggest point, is that its subscription based. This isnt a game where they sell it to you once at $60 and most of the revenue comes in the first couple of years then dies off.

Went from GT7 to iRacing and have no regrets. Don’t touch GT7 anymore. It is expensive though. The ffb feels different as iRacing only give you what you’d get through the steering rack where as ACC implement other features to try give more ‘feel’ through the wheel. If you add a buttkicker or some sort of shaker to iRacing then you get all that other feedback but it’s delivered via the chassis and not the wheel. I actually dislike having all those artificial effects through ffb, it feel unrealistic to me. Real steering is quite dampened. IRacing’s way is more realistic in that you only get what you’d get via the wheel.

i heard you’re going to iracing for the community. (of course the sim has to actually be good too, but that’s a diff conversation.) i want to be able to communicate with other passionate motorsport enthusiasts. i want to have friendly competitions with friends that i’ve made in teams. i want constructive criticism and praise. i can see how this would be a sim where it’s easier to get in touch with other enthusiasts since it’s such a high paywall and it increases as you purchase cars and tracks. only the most dedicated players would pour money into iracing. at least that’s what i think.

ACC graphics on epic better than Iracing hands down.

PS5 can record, stream and VR GT7 with zero perceivable overhead. Truly is wizard magic.

iRacing is just a complete rip off in how things are set up. To get the same content as ACC you’re looking at £500.

iRacing would be a fantastic game and 100% worth the cost but the problem is their business model and how to get access to it and maintain access is just pointless and stupid to me. In the end it becomes a game with a great foundation but is severly let down by anti-consumerism and greed

What is different about it than train sim or WoW? Sim racing in general is a massive upfront cost just like iracing, so while the cost is high the competition has been way better than any other sim/game I've tried.

Hated everything about it.

This game is just a heavy scam lmao. Graphics are ass and theyve just managed to convince comp players that they have the best comp enviroment which they now do because they convinced them. However paying monthly for the eXACT SAME experience that assetto overed in 2015 is just a sign of racing gamers not understanding the culture and how in the future racing games are going to cost 1000$ if you want all the content

I haven't seen oval cars, dirt cars, rallycross cars, dirt trucks, open wheelers on ACC. So I doubt that ACC is better. Maybe their GT3's are better but iRacing has so much more to offer than GT3 or GT4 cars.
