This video came at the perfect time. I love to decorate spaces and my friends always ask me for help so it’s been in the back of my mind to “certify” myself in interior design/decorating to give more credibility. You definitely helped me realize I care much more about the decorating side of things so thank you!! 😇😇

I am in school studying interior architecture right now, & so many people think that it’s just pillow matching & picking paint colors, whereas you & I both know that it’s way more technical than that. Thank you for making this video!! It is extremely extensive. I would love to see a video of you talking about your experience in school & any tips that you have for those of us in design school!

TYVM for sharing so people understand the differences. I believe a lot of professionals (mostly women) are underrated by society. Sharing and educating is the answer. 👍🏽 I was a Certified Interior Decorator (and R.N.) and truly admire your design work! Keep going, please 😊

I was wondering if you would be willing to give any advice? Is there a big market for jobs anywhere for interior design or is it only for people who live in bigger cities?

I love this breakdown. I never thought about being an interior designer but listening to your explanation, it kind of fits into what my dream job would be. Do they go over financials and budgeting in school?

Hey Emily! This video is great. One thing I’d say is it’s be a good idea to replace the word “handicap” in your vocabulary with “disabled.” People who require accessibility accommodations don’t use that word and a lot of us find it offensive!

It’s impossible to choose the correct word for everybody. You know she’s not offending anyone. A lot of people find everything offensive.

What I found so frustrating as someone whos gone to school for both interior design and architecture is that (at least in the US) if you only study Interior design you cannot call yourself and "interior architect" because to be an architect/ to use the word architect in your title you must be certified as an architect. I agree that what we do as Interior designers is a form of specialized architecture. Its just unfortunate that we dont have a title that better describes what we do as professionals. It would be less confusing for those looking for interior services and give us more respect within the art and arch community (because for some reason architects think we also just fluff pillows for 4 years)
