Weird, i'm no drummer but i've always been good at that.. But then again, i've most likely been playing with metronome... I've seen two drummers get better with click tracks, getting better at keeping tempo even without them. Both were good before but after they were solid like a clock and groove became more natural, less thinking seemed to be involved.

beautiful playing at the end my friend. Tonally deep and pure, very resonant and nice departure from the addictive drive so many have to play lightening fast as if the instrument were meant to be a machine gun. Do much more of this. Find an aesthetic in silence between notes and in the richness of single notes and deliberate harmonies.

Amazing musicians all of you! I'm 58 and am just amazed by your generation taking music further than where you found it! The drummer, WOW!! Amazing timing. I agree "the human metronome"! The music industry can be brutal on musicians that don't know the business side of what you are doing. Have fun while you climb to stardom but make sure you can trust your management/Accountant, been there. I know that every generation thinks that the next music is something they don't understand or like and condemn it but I, as a musician understand what you are doing. The first guitar player I saw on youtube of your generation was Tosin Abasi! Google spell check doesn't even recognize his name yet? He watched all the 80's videos VHS that I watched and I never pulled from them like he did. I kept looking into "Animals as Leaders" and eventually found Charles Berthoud! I'm not a bass player but he has a great channel regardless of what instrument you play. I love your channel even as an old school guitar player from the 80's, you boys keep up the innovative creativity. You all are the future of some kid sitting in his room that will eventually make you go "WOW" like you did me. Good luck on your careers all of you!! LOVE IT!!!!

As for the unfinished song at the end, it made me think of a cloaked figure walking through a rainy forest, and I can't imagine that finishing the song would be anything but great. Keep it up, Charles!

Your original is just extremely beautiful, it is a mix of eolian and dorian at the beginning if I'm not mistaken? Love the kinda medieval sound to it. And I just wanted to add that I think your channel is really one of the best in terms of music content nowadays. Thanks for bringing us your content.

7 dislikes at the time of writing. I just don't get it. Fantastic musicians, fantastic music, fun challenges...what's there not to like? This stuff just makes me happy. As for your original, definitely push on. I love it. It starts off Celtic though it doesn't remain so. Unrelated, but I would love to see your take on how bass can enhance a Celtic sound. Thank you and greetz from France.

There are always haters. I recently had to comment on a meat chefs video, where a vegetarian was moaning that he was a bad person because he was a bad person for butchering the dead animal and using all the parts of the animal in his recipes. She had no real reason to be watching this particular video, but still felt she should hate and comment. At the end of the day I look at the ration of likes to dislikes. 100:1 seems to be the average. This one has over 200:1, therefore it’s a popular video and the haters are still going to be there, just in lesser numbers per view.

But it's good to see young people like yourselves still actually playing real instruments and take it up many levels, as opposed to people who call themselves artists and use samples and loop machines! Keep real music alive!

I would love to see you on a Chapman Stick. I’m sure that you could do wonders on one. Who knows, maybe you already play one. Your playing style would adapt to a Stick easily, as they are played mostly by tapping, and you are already a master at tapping the bass. BTW, you absolutely should finish out this composition and bless your fans with a performance of the completed version. YOU DAH MAN ! ! !
