Is Flying Really That Bad for the Environment?

Today we're talking about the environment.
Are planes bad for the environment?
Technically yes. However they aren't as bad as money people think. While they aren't good for the environment, they are the most efficient means of transportation that we have.
Technology advancements in air travel have provided drastic decreases in pollution, and they aren't slowing down. Multiple airline companies as well as NASA are working towards more fuel efficient planes, flight patterns, and fuel options to continue to drive down the economic impact of air travel.

I thought one of the major problems with airplanes is that they emit the CO2 so far above the ground, where it's effect on global warming is very amplified compared to f.e. driving a car on the ground. You just mentioned the total emission. I'm not an expert though, just interested in your opinion on this.

This is a really good point, something I overlooked. It looks like you're right, I found an article that shows plane emissions are much more significant around 6 miles (10km) high; which is typically cruising altitude as well unfortunately.

I would recommend not making videos for the public sphere about things you clearly know very little.

2% is a low estimate, and even so 2% is still a massive amount of Co2. If everyone reasons like that, nothing will get done, and everyone could just say that their personal impact is a drop in the ocean.
