Man Utd before and after Fergie shows the influence he had, the amount of managers Utd have changed and not one has come close. Pep every team he has went to have won before and after him. The more Utd suffer the more it makes me think how special Sir Alex Ferguson was. Even when Fergie was at Aberdeen there glory days was never there before or after him.

I'd like to see Pep take over a team that isn't already set with big players, that isn't in the ready, made on a plate position of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Man City that he's had. Fergie took Aberdeen to domestic and European success against the big two of Celtic and Rangers. Utd weren't exactly setting England alight when he took over. Liverpool were the dominant force and he went close to being sacked if reports are true. He had to build both Aberdeen and Utd in to winning machines. Pep for sure has had to deal with egos, he's had to get players at each club to adopt his philosophy of playing and make them consistent, that in itself takes some doing. But, I'd like to see him in a position of our current boss Klopp, and walk into a club needing to be seriously fixed and one that is not already winning trophies.

Clearly Ferguson. Amazing for 3 decades at United, but Aberdeen before that. He didn’t inherit a prem winning team at United, built it himself. And what doesn’t get talked about enough is the difficulty of winning over that amount of time - Wenger showed how hard it is to remodel your style and have it work over so long and so many changes in the game, whereas Ferguson won for most of the entire period. Wenger had a good period but could never rebuild a title winning team once that first crop of players left

@only_1David Mourinho came into a Chelsea team that had never won the Premier League and won it back to back in his first two years going up against Sir Alex Ferguson's United and the Arsenal Invincibles. His spending in his first two years in charge was around 125 million to basically build a team from scratch and half of that was to get 3 players, Carvalho, Drogba and Essien, players that were core to the team and played for many years after Mourinho left. If you examine his net spending at the treble winning season at Inter it was 12 million only which is insane in football terms.

Mourinho has been massively overrated when it comes to "having done it against the odds" compared to other managers. Yeah, at the time Porto didn't have players like Zidane, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Henry, Kaka, Figo, Messi, Maldini, Raul, Xavi, Iniesta etc. but it was still a solid squad consisting of world class players like Deco and Carvalho. People also forget that Porto had one of the easiest routes ever to a Champions League win and the fact that the 2003/04 Champions League campaign had a lot of surprises such as Madrid being knocked out by Monaco or Milan bottling a 4-1 first leg result against Deportivo. In the final, they weren't even under dogs, but favorites. Winning the Champions League with Porto isn't even remotely close to winning back-to-back European Cups with Nottingham Forrest or the Cup Winners' Cup with Aberdeen against Real Madrid or the Premier League with Leicester or the Champions League with Dortmund. In my opinion, even Benitez' Champions League victory with Liverpool in 2005 is more impressive.

Pep is the best "coach" of modern times and perhaps all time. His ability to dispatch opposing teams and go on multiple long winning streaks is born primarily from the way he sets up; passing grids and lanes that his players operate in; counter pressing and the number of chances his teams create per 90. It's been extremely tough for all over teams to live with. He has had the most money to spend and has also inherited a bunch of generational talents but regardless, it's the football on the pitch which has proved decisive in the dominance. As for the best manager (which I see slightly different from that of a coach), I think Fergie is probably the best pound for pound taking into account all things.
I think you should judge the greatness of managers by how much they have overachieved. Given that Pep has only achieved par at all of the clubs he's managed(you could say his CL record meant he underachieved at Bayern), I don't think you can rate him above, say, Klopp in recent times and you certainly can't rate him higher than Fergie. Given how bad some of the players Fergie had to work with were in the latter part of his time at OT, winning 5 titles in 7 seasons(would've been 7 in 7 and The Treble but for Leeds-supporting ref Martin Atkinson and Aguero's last minute miracle) and getting to 3 CL finals in 4 seasons is a far greater achievement than anything Pep has done.
@matthewbanton7077
6 ай бұрын
as a Liverpool fan, you absolutely can rate Pep above Klopp. he absolutely didn't achieve par at Barca or City, at Barca he created the best team of all time in his FIRST senior job, and at City he won the treble after no English team had won it since 1999, creating the best Prem team of all time. that certainly isn't par. Fergie's an interesting one, I'd still say most of his success came down to financial backing, lack of quality of competition and, of course, paying the refs. not to mention the fact that United were blessed with a generation of talent who just all turned out to be incredible players. he wasn't a fantastic tactician in the same vein as Pep and Klopp, and his reign is plagued with controversy (like the ref thing), but he's still near-universally considered the best manager in English history. I suppose that's what 13 league titles get you, but it's like calling Giggs the best player we've ever seen because he won loads. I don't think Pep is too far off Fergie at all.
Fergie is the GOAT of managers. I think everyone should agree with that. Someone like Ancelotti I feel is underrated because he has won a lot as a manager. It’s Fergie. He achieved all he did with mostly homegrown/academy talent, relatively low money spent on wages and transfers, and did it all whilst actually ‘managing’ his football club, from the very top to the very bottom.
As an Arsenal fan this is the most pointless and obvious question of all time, it's Sir Alex Ferguson. End of conversation.
AVB!
Liverpool fan here sir alex no debate.

😂😂😂😂 Can't lace PEP's boots
Poch is cute
Pep
Jose Mourinho definitely
Pep is THE GOAT..The man came in one of Barca's worst times even tho they won Champions league 2 seasons before in 2006, Rijkard left Barca in shambles Pep came in and sold Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Deco for bunch of La Masia kids.. Tell me any Manager would and could have done that?? NO ONE!! Pep had the guts to sell them and brought in La Masia kids ; Busquets, Pique and Pedro..He then brought then Alves and Villa.. He managed Messi know becoming the Messi we all know..He helped polished Iniesta and Xavi.. He took Barca to heights never seen before, making them unstoppable from 2008 to 2012 to which his foundation still lingers in Barca to this day.. He developed Kimmich He came to Prem and proved arrogant Prem wrong when they said his style wouldn't even beat Stoke City.. He developed KDB, Rodri, Silva.. He made decent players into great players..The man won Treble with players like Ake, Akanji and Grealish..What mode do you want.. He's a genius in his own world..Fergi was remarkable with what he did with United, Magnificent it was but he can't enter Pep's sphere, He just can't!! Pep is THE GOAT 🐐
I’m a Man United forever and will never change, but Pep is the best coach I have ever seeing. They winning mentality, types, players he buys etc

U aint a real united fan then. Ferguson changed football. Pep still aint there
Hobbies - Lemon watching
Bob Paisley rarely gets a mention. 21 trophies in 9 seasons not bad , including 7 titles ,1 Uefa cup and 3 European cups among them. YNWA
Don’t understand why there has to be a definitive GOAT? Fergie is the greatest of his generation, Pep is the greatest of his. Remember they managed and coached in different times, slightly overlapping. Football was different when Fergie managed as it is now with Pep.

@@eL--RaL Bob Paisley is the greatest Manager in the English game factually , Won more trophies in any 9 year period more than anyone else so far , in comparison to Pep Bob had already won 3 CL's Peps only got 2 over a far greater timespan So this Pep has already lost, unless your giving out trophies for sticking around the longest then that goes to Roy Hodgson and Neil Warnock Ancelotti is the only manager that can be classed as better the Bob Paisley

Barcelona and Bayern post-Pep have still achieved incredible success and dominance. Man City will also. Aberdeen and Man United post-Fergie went to the dogs. That shows the influence he had.
Carlo then Pep and then Sir Alex
Honourable mentions: Shankly, Paisley, Clough.
It’s got to go to pep or current Real Madrid manager
Its aa if football before the premier league didn't exist. That said Fergie is in the discussion regardless and i say that as a liverpool fan. But as a liverpool fan I'll pick Shankly and Paisley above him. Pep could one day be up there. Ancelotti didn't do much at everton. Dyche is doing better than he did!
why have you used that pic of Poch in the thumbnail? rude
1. Ferguson 2. Wenger 3. Pep/Klopp
Phil Neville 😂
What is poch doing in the pic?
Sir Alex Ferguson! Simple.. no debate needed
But first
It's clearly Pep. He created arguably the two greatest teams in history. He really improves his ppayers, he doesn't teally buy stars instead he makes his players stars. And the way he destroys his opponents with his pure footballing genius. I think SAF lost twice to Pep. As great and exciting SAFs United were, its nothing compared to this City and the GOAT Barca
