A true anarchy server can neither be too easy nor too hard, it's ultimately up to the players to decide how much effort they're willing to put into making it easier or more difficult. 2b2t has existed for so long that it's beginning to resemble what would happen in the real world, where the people form their own groups and build large infrastructures

I remember first hearing about & joining 2b2t about a month after the explosion of popularity brought on by TheCampingRusher in 2016. all I had was an xray mod; no hacked clients or anything else. for about a half hour I was constantly killed at spawn by patrols and the environment, but eventually I was able to slip by on a 1x2 nether highway, found a single wood log and a crafting table, crafted bowls, and mined about 100 netherrack by hand to get mushrooms to make food while on 3 hunger points and escape further. one of the more memorable experiences I had playing minecraft as a whole, even if I've long stopped playing 2b2t by now.

I haven't had the time to sit in queue yet but his videos are the only reason it drew my interest. I'm only one example but fits videos appeal to the veterans and the uninitiated alike. There is a possiblity though that because his videos are so well done a lot of people won't bother trying to log in because of the queue and feel they got enough just by watching. I haven't joined the server yet myself, but I've always thought that when I do, I would play as a good guy helping others. Because I think it's poetic that even in this deadly wasteland, kindness can still flourish. It shows that people are meant to come together in the end and help each other, that's our true nature.

I think part of why it's been getting easier is the fact that the server is way better known now, which causes the knowledge of how to easily escape spawn to be way more widespread. That, combined with all the other factors just makes it trivial. But it's not even a recent development. I haven't played since like 2019 but even then escaping spawn was already trivial.

I mean, it makes sense House increases the spawn radious. It's the less intrusive way to bypass them. As to why they want new players to survive? Well, he wants money from the priority queue, and if no new players can join at all because escaping spawn is super hard, the server will eventually slowly die. This happens with all communities, if there's no new people entering, they will dissappear.

The few times I've played 2b, yes, it was relatively easy to navigate through spawn's stone jungle. But it still has its (literal) pitfalls, such as when I stuck underneath bedrock and didn't have chorus fruit to escape and I barley lost any hunger to be able to die fast enough before being kicked back into queue (this took me 3 tries + sitting in queue for 12 hours on each attempt.) As someone who had begun playing pretty much since the server basically opened. I had a friend in 5th/6th grade? who had joined 2B2T the day it opened. I joined several weeks later when I got Minecraft for PC sometime after he had joined. he later stopped playing somewhere around when the World Border was reached in March of 2017, whereas I have continued. The empires I've seen rise and fall, enemies become friends, friends become enemies, the stories, the bases, the battles, the wars, the builds and so much more *_will all stay with me forever._* This server is beautiful, it may not look like it in your eyes, but it truly is. 2B2T still has years left on her, and I shall stay till the day she shuts down.

i always liked those spawn build projects made to make spawn more difficult but always thought it was a shame that they basically boiled down to making it impossible to escape rather than just making it harder. i think it has to do with how complex it would be to actually make it more difficult without just making it more impossible. a giant cube of water or a wall of lava is just insurmountable though i bet a giant 3d obsidian maze would work.

I still think that inventory management is a big part of escaping spawn. Knowing what to have and how much of it definitely can be hard. And making even one mistake can make it harder to manage. But even that is so much easier than it used to be. Disclaimer, I am a vey new player. Even so, I was lucky in finding a base with trees and an e-chest very close to spawn, which allowed me to get wood + saplings and decongest my inventory. I also found an ungriefed base with farms and a double chest mostly full of fishing rods, which allowed me to get seeds and stacks of fish. And judging by Fit's video, encounters like this are more and more common.

After binging these videos all week I finally took the step and joined 2b2t this week. This was my experience; Attempt 1) 7k blocks in the overworld, went to the nether and came out around 23k blocks in the overworld. Not a single piece of grass to get seeds or a single animal all the way. Ending up starving to death and returning to spawn. On this run I managed to get my wood tools from left over planks in the nether and where I came out had plenty of coal and iron. Attempt 2) Risked going straight to the high way in the nether and bumped into a player. I assumed it meant death. The guy just stopped and threw me 5 gapples. I made about half the distance I did before feeling confident before a grifer flew in and killed me. I can happily report I managed to eat all the apples before death, my little victory. Attempt 3) Spawned on a small set of stone, and had to try to parkour out with no blocks. Server lagged mid jump and I fell to bedrock dying. Attempt 4) Spawned on top of the black sky / its remains. Made good distance, server lagged and fell off to a random hole on the tinniest island going Attempt 5) Someone posted looking for new players "I'm a nice builder". I decided to yolo it and gave the coordinates. Died shortly after. Knew it was coming but couldn't resist when he went "Trust me I'm a good builder" All in all I found it pretty easy to get out, but food was defo the issue. I just want to live the nomad life and explore the overworld xD

This server makes a great case study as to how most anarchistic enviornments develop a more net-positive culture around interactions due to the original culture being diluted so quickly. Often, you'll see these kinds of enviornments develop incredibly niche and small communities and cultures that strongly oppose any sort of counter culture against it, such is the case of 4chan and others like it. I feel like this occures due to the hive mind and pride of "owning" something so personal and integral to a specific medium like its culture; The idea that you can control something so important like that means alot to people in these sorts of communities and its usually why most of them stay niche and underground simply due to the anti-counter-culture that forms as a result. I.E. new members that join have either no choice to assimilate into the already established culture or be forced away from it. This server in particular is interesting because there actually IS a moderative force that was applied to allow newer individuals into the culture (such as making it easier to escape spawn and become more established). Furthermore, with the past and current spikes in new players, the anti-counter-culture just simply hasnt been able to keep up because that sort of thing only works well with isolated individuals or small groups. Since the new established playerbase is so much larger in comparison to the older playerbase, alot of the culture within the server changes as a result. And since most of the new playerbase is alot newer and doesnt carry the same sort of grudge against new players as say some of the older players might, the whole culture shifts to something that is more friendly and generally less toxic than the original enviornment. I find it so interesting how the servers admin inadvertently allowed this to happen by essentially hard limiting the effectiveness of anti-counter-culture (new players)

@@katto1937 I'd disagree. Accessibility should always come first. You can have a recommended experience but you should still let players self-select how hard they want a game to be. Even Dark Souls, a game famously hard by design, still has methods for you to make the game easier. Mainly by cheesing the game with ranged attacks. That isn't a bug or an exploit, it's there so unskilled players who want to play Dark Souls for reasons other than the difficulty can still have fun.

This is essentially the end result of the Rusher War. The extreme influx of players during that time forced hause to implement something to earn enough money to keep the server going, and the players that came with Rusher never went away, means the system (the paid queue) never went away. Hause now has to keep a balance that allows enough new players to keep playing, and pay for the server's upkeep, or the community would slowly shrink to the point that the queue would no longer be necessary, but the server would still be full 24/7, which would result in Hause having to pay for stuff with his own money, and that just isn't going to happen. In other words: 2b2t has too many established players. The only way out of this would be to kill the paid queue entirely, and let donations keep the server alive. There's a good chance that this would fail if attempted. Or you, Fit, pay the bill.

I think it just depends on who you are. For me as a new player, it wasn't technically that easy to escape spawn, having had to try to a couple times over, mostly because of all the wild obstacles to get through (since keep in mind that it's a long way back to spawn that you have to try escaping all over again) and then being forced to survive for as long as you can, which is also difficult with fewer spawning mobs and the server lagging or glitching every once in a while. For an old player now, being more accustomed to... Well, _everything_ 2b2t became, it's probably too easy because it's in the established culture for stuff to be harder and attracts more people wanting that challenge that you would also partake in being part of said challenge to overcome, so now with things being easier, I guess it makes sense. _What challenge then_ does a veteran player also pose now, if everything is not as difficult as it used to be before?
