    One of my favorite perks is the variety of people you meet. I live alone with no kids and never married and I'm too old to be hanging out at bars but it also means my schedule is wide open. So dashing gives me my fill of socializing, and it's kind of neat just walking into businesses that you normally wouldn't be allowed to enter. It's like when people wear a high visibility vest and nobody questions why they're there, if you're carrying a pizza bag you can just walk into a business and nobody even questions it.

    For real. Yesterday an adorable child took out his wallet and gave me two dollars. This morning I got to play with a baby frenchie. I deliver to all walks if life from trailer parks to mansions. I love helping people enjoy their food.

    I agree. I used to live downtown Seattle and the traffic could be terrible so I’d go to West Seattle which helped (if you know that city). Now I live back in the Midwest where I am from. The dashing seems better here for the simple fact less traffic and sometimes the suburb drives help me clear my mind. Tips can suck but good after hours 24hr McDonald’s and all the customers are right in the neighborhood. Boom. If you can figure out how to make it work for you, it absolutely works. Try different things if you don’t know. Videos like this and others help too. People who say they did it and make no money didn’t stick with it and or they cherry picked. I get it but it doesn’t work that way…exactly. Others who make fun of you, (which I seriously don’t understand because to me the joke is on them), are probably miserable at their job is all I can guess. I have had so many people comment on what I’m doing for a living that I’m almost taken aback because I simply don’t get it. Again, if you know how to work it, you can rake in cash. You’ll figure out the strategy if you stick with it and forgo the easy money route

    It’s gangsta in the PM/AM. Sometimes I think I don’t get attacked at 4am is because they are starting to know my name and who is showing up to deliver warm food (hot bag yep not passive aggressive to the non-tipping folk), and after most times they told me to hand it to them but no one comes to the door or when instructions say text or call but they are asleep, and yet other times they don’t remember or even know who even ordered it but-I got you. That BK meal is going to be a killer breakfast in the AM. Your welcome ❤

    Interesting… I usually do full hours myself, and I always find I’m making the most. But I did try lunch hour and then stop until dinner and then I would go out in the evening that was not bad too. I found most of the bigger orders I still got big orders at night too but most of them work during lunch hour. When you’re dropping off pizza to accompany it’s already a big order you’re getting paid for and well and then once you’re finished and you get there fast or on time they give you another big tip so I foresee in . $25 to $40 tips total.

    Absolutely not worth it for me. On top of the customer fraud and people stealing food. I actually love the work by hour, i dont mind the physical work . Gas is getting too much for me at this point so its not worth it. The worst part is the dash navigation is horrible. Panda express is not under the underpass XD. The gas isnt even the downfall, it's the other stuff.

  • @BestDasherAlive

    sometimes i log full time hours. i do other stuff too. "a job like this" is you run your own business as an independent contractor. you have a delivery business and doordash contracts you to complete deliveries when you accept them. so as a business owner, if you want health insurance, you can buy it. you'd want need to research which plan from which provider you want/need/can afford etc

    By dollars per hour or dollars per mile, Door Dash paid much less than working at a fast food restaurant in my area in Dallas Texas. That is why I quit doing it. There just weren't enough offers per hour. I wanted at least a dollar per mile driven and Door Dash couldn't come close. It didn't even make sense using my motor scooter.

    how much profit you can make per day is a better measurement than per hour imo

  • @MrMoneyHelper

    @MrMoneyHelper

    11 ай бұрын

    @@BestDasherAlive No matter how the profit is divided, it is still the same profit. Dollars per hour is calculated at the end of the day to see the total take and how many hours it took to get it. Such is a good measurement tool. What is the price per mile to own a car over its lifetime? According to AAA in 2023, that cost is $.7152. Multiply that by the number of miles driven on your day of work and that becomes the _zero_ dollar starting point. Subtract that from the income you made and THEN divide that number by how many hours were worked. That is the real hourly income. Using an electric bike or other vehicle might cost less to purchase, but they won't last as many miles as a car. Which means newer versions would need to be purchased more often. I doubt the best electric bicycle or electric scooter would last 150,000 to 200,000 miles.

    @@MrMoneyHelper I agree. In NRH (near Dallas), I've been making only $10 - $13 per hour (an entire day's work, averaged out). Definitely a side-gig only in this region. I understand the base pay is higher in Cali, and maybe BDA is in an area where there are lots of Dashes close together. Here in TX, base pay is really low, and everything is spread out miles apart. Takes too long to do a delivery (or even stacked deliveries), and they only pay about $1 per mile. Doesn't really make sense to do it here.

    Have another income if you have mortgage or rent but you can do this 40hrs. I would say have savings because the tight parameters you just meet or they can “fire” you without notice. But that’s like any job. Also-be prepared for car maintenance because you definitely need to keep your transportation in top notch. A good car with gas mileage is key. Watch more videos but yes be prepared for driving regardless. You and your car will become one
