I'm okay with whatever bride they want, but please get rid of that projected face version we have now. Give us a new version of her, the first one, or a new one just please change from the current one.

The attic scene has changed multiple times so I'm ok with a new bride and scene. Don't change the hitchhiking ghosts though. They're perfect just how they are.

Tony Baxter "leaked" some information this week about the true purpose of the HM refurb: not simply ADA compliance, but to improve the BAD SHOW for all guests every time the ride is stopped for ADA guests to load/unload. They are reworking the Omnimover system to be able to insert wheelchair/scooter "sleds" onto the track without needing to stop the ride. In the process of solving that problem, they may have invented entirely different Doom Buggies to make the ride more immersive. Tony mentioned the ability to actually "fall backwards" out of the attic window. David, I sent you an email yesterday with more details and a link to Tony's interview. Definitely look into this!

They tried the fall sensation effect years ago. Originally the buggie would slightly tilt forward as you turned that as you were falling it would slightly tilt back adding to the drop. It never worked quit right because the timing was off. Maybe the figured out how to fix it.

Unfortunately I don't think this is accurate. I listened to that same interview and Tony is seemingly saying that he WISHES Disney had taken advantage of the downtime to do this, not that they actually ARE. He cited it as an example of modern Disney's tendency to band-aid problems rather than fix them (i.e. responding to the stop-and-go ride experience by extending the queue to accommodate the guest backlog rather than simply eliminating the stop-and-go element entirely).

That 2004 lookin pixelated blue projector bride on a balloon has got to goo. I love the warm natural lighti g of the first half the haunted mansion. It only gets icy blue out in the cemetery scene

My biggest hope for adding the window in the attic is a brand new effect to represent the bride and some more dramatic lighting. That's the only thing that would make sense if this is true. Just imagine a Pepper's Ghost effect with a creepy silhouetted wedding dress form transforming into the bride in-between lightning strikes that would be so cool! Also more wishful thinking but I really hope the hitchhiking ghosts update is different than Florida's. Maybe they'll introduce the installed but never seen backup projection effect for that scene...

If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT! I really hope they don't change the Pepper's Ghost illusions!

I’ve heard Dave from other Cast Members that the hitchhiking ghost effect at the end of the ride are going to change like Magic Kingdom’s version to being screen based and no longer animatronic Pepper’s Ghost figures behind one way panes of glass. 😢 This news scares me for the future of the Haunted Mansion bc the physical sets and practical effects is what makes this ride a classic along with its amazing sound score!

Get rid of her projection, and make a mix of the Hatchet Bride and Beating Heart Bride. Have her be nothing but glowing eyes in a far dark corner of the attic, her axe reflecting the dim light from the moon, and her veil and dress flowing ominously as all you hear is her heart. Since you already see her in her wedding photos, seeing her as a nearly-hidden form would be terrifying even know who she is.

They will be adding a full sized CandleStick Man

The hitchhiking ghosts are NOT a Peppers Ghost effect. "Pepper's Ghost" is a reflection onto transparent glass. The mirrors for the hitchhiking ghosts are two way. We, the guests are reflected in the mirrors on one side, while the ghosts are illuminated BEHIND the mirrors so that they can be seen through the translucent glass, making it LOOK as if they are a reflection. The ballroom scene IS a traditional Pepper's Ghost effect, as it is an actual reflection.

The Ghosts following you home in WDW are clearly animations, very clever for sure but not fooling anyone, nothing special about them. But the Peppers Ghost effect is definitely, really there! It lines up properly, it's convincing in a way that the animations completely fail at. Practical effects beat CG every time!

Agreed. I wish I could have taken her and kept her in my home for a decoration, but she is probably in the Disney animatronic storage warehouse.

The beating heart bride scared the snot out of me as a kid and left a stain of fear / joy. For that reason alone I’m all for that version. However the Constance version just fits better with the story in the attic now and makes more sense updating her

Okay, if we die in the attic, why does the Host tell us a ghost will follow us home? Why are we going to be haunted? Ghosts done haunt other ghosts.

I remember the story and record set from back in the day. It was a kid who wanted to explore the mansion, and the attraction was his journey. Since he couldn't get out the front door he was trying to find another exit, which led him to the attic. Whether he climbed out or was pushed, I don't believe he died, but was guided by the ghosts to get out of the graveyard.

I still think that we are just guests in the Mansion and we escape by falling out the window. Escaping thru the graveyard. And back to new Orleans Square. Hence the hitchhiking ghosts following us home. That's how I always interpret it as a child and Now as a 50 year old. I also feel like Disney liked to change it up to keep guests guessing! Can't wait to ride it again!

Do miss the Beating Heart Bride but don't mind Constance, would like to see her as a full animatronic instead or at least redo the projection to be better if they are set on keeping it. As far as the Hitchhiking Ghosts go would prefer to see the current pepper's ghost effect stay, feel it conveys following you home more than the Magic Kingdom's version where with them being so animated gives the feeling of one last bit of fun before you leave.

That projected face effect needs to go. Hope these rumors are true

I feel as if they would be more transparent about changes on the inside to set expectations. They mentioned something was afoot when the Hatbox Ghost was being renovated, it also provides greater anticipation if it's reopened. I'm skeptical but I think the current Bride figure is pretty rough and sticks out like a sore thumb, I think some sort of complete floating projection or even full animatronic would be better than the face screen that's there, but I'm hesitant to believe it is happening.

Absolutely spot on! A Bride change is welcome. The unneeded change to the hitchhiking ghosts is unneeded, but if they feel they must 😏whatever.

For the past 15 years I’ve only made a single trip to Disneyland every year. And it’s always in October or November, so I haven’t been able to see the original mansion in a long time. However I decided to buy an annual pass in December 2019 with the hope I would finally get to see the original version then parks closed. I came back in 2021 and 2022 in November each time, then I bought an enchant magic key in 2023 with the hope that in 2024 I would get to see the original version. I’m starting to get the feeling I’ll never see it again.

Im fine with a return to form for the bride abd enhanced attic bit keep the old hitchhiking ghost pepper effect, maybe just refresh the full body animatronic one's

I like the beating heart bride story, I have never actually heard that before. I have been a long time follower (since the very beginning) and was having a fresh baked 2015 marathon today! And in a video you were talking about rumors of the hatbox ghost being added. I love watching your old videos and seeing how much has changed in the parks and with your channels.

I don't think they will change the bride from Constance Hatchaway since the release of the movie. I do hope, and I agree with many on this, that they take out the projected version of the bride. It feels disconnected from the rest of the effects throughout the mansion. Also, please don't get rid of the practical Hitchhiking Ghosts!!!! I love your videos!!!

The Hitchhiking Ghosts in the mirrors are not Pepper's Ghost effects, and they are not projections. They are figures behind two way mirrors. Two way mirrors are partially laminated, so you can see through them, so you see your own reflection combined with the figures behind the mirrors.

Before they changed the bride dress animation of her holding an axe and saying things like “I do”; I always thought that the bride was a victim or cursed bc all of her husbands kept dying and the wedding dress at the end of the corridor symbolized something that she could never achieve along with the somber wedding like music by the phantom piano player.

Disney will always look at evolving their stories, rides, and themes every 10 years. It sucks but I realized it's how it is with them.

They can do some really good things now with technology but I feel to much is just that. There's something about those ghosts at the end of the ride not doing to much which I think makes it more mysterious and spooky. To much movement will be just that, to much. But I feel they've ruined alot of the rides at the park with other things I won't mention.

They should swap positions of the Bride and HBGhost. So when you turn the corner you're facing her to push you backwards out the window.

I love the Pepper’s Ghost Hitchhikers! The animated ones at WDW were honestly a bit off putting to me, as a Disneylander. I do truly hope that they add a window to the attic and that they use a practical face on Constance/The Bride. I really hope they never go the path of getting rid of the hanging in the stretching room. I worry about that sometimes.

2:45 1) the hitchiking ghosts in the mirrors are NOT projected and they are NOT done by the pepper's ghost effect. 2) Yes, they are a practical effect. They are traveling in sync behind the mirror which has no paint backing - allowing you to see through the mirror -

Pepper's ghost can be animated. That works fine. They just project the animation on a screen hidden behind the mirrors. A new bride could just be an improved one and not a change to the theme.

Unless they can put a Peppets Ghost across the opening you "fall through" in the attic and flop backwards for the Descent. They need more Scenes. 9:38

There are changes coming to the ride proper. Show set modification, at show level - scene 11. Valuation of $50,000.

I thought the faceless bride with the heartbeat was much more effective and more fit to the attraction. And the portraits with her decapitated husbands is pretty morbid and doesn’t fit the vibe of the rest of the attraction. And I’m not a fan of the projection faces on animatronic figures. (I’m very glad the TBA figures don’t have that!)

Bob Gurr said they are building a handicap sidetrack system for disabled guests to get on and off without having to stop the ride every 3 minutes...... Much like Radiator Springs.

I like Constance Hatchaway, and must be one of the few people who think a projection effect makes her more “ghostly” than a normal Animatronic would. Perhaps it can be improved somehow.

The ghosts who have hitched a ride require a lot of space for the mannequins and mirrors. They probably want to use that space. Projections can be done in a much tighter space. Although I personally prefer the practical effects, this is about how much room is potentially available.

David, did you see the interview on KZread video I sent between Bob Gurr and Tony Baxter? Tony has stated how the constant stopping of the ride to allow disabled users on is bad show, and he has such a simple and easy fix. Slow down the omnimover to allow those users to just slot in to the ride. He says they already do that for other attractions, so it would be an easy fix. Wonder if they're also doing that while the ride is under refurb? But Tony is under the impression that they're not and the extended queue is to allow for longer waiting to facilitate the stoppings. It's a really interesting interview, if you haven't seen it! Love seeing how both legends think!

I like the storyline of Constance Hatchaway. Not opposed to new affects either though. Maybe I'd rather have her be a villian then a victim. A merger of the story lines could be cool, like she is a black widow but then the captain her last husband turned the tables.

I don't understand the whole ADA reason. Isn't the beginning of the show an elevator that takes everyone down into the ride? Or is this something to do with the end of the ride, an elevator instead of an escalator? In which case, wouldn't most of that construction be taking place on the other side of the mansion?

I love it! I like that the Hitchhiking Ghosts are only vaguely animated at Disneyland. (and more animated at WDW.) Now, if they update them to more animated, I won't complain! Where it comes to Constance and the back story of D-Land's HM, I really want them to continue the story being somewhat unclear and full of possibilities! Over the years the story has moved in the direction that Constance has taken to liberating her husbands of their heads. And that Cap'n Gore has taken to "hanging" around in the belfry! And though I have always subscribed to the basic story as you have laid it out here, I really believe that no official clarifying should be done. The whole story should remain the murky mystery that it is! It's creepily perfect now! The mystery is deepened by the fact that the Raven "guide" knows the true story. And he ain't talkin', much! I'm getting the feeling that by the time the Mansion reopens, the changes are going to be very worth the wait!

I prefer the current bride. I think that is a fun story with the details of evidence of increasing wealth with each husband. However, I would not be heartbroken by a return to the beating heart bride. I remember my daughter being terrified by the scene with her. For some reason that bride scared her more than the current one and she would hide her face as we went by.

I prefer Pepper's ghosts. They look more real to my imagination. So better show I'd love to see improvement to Constance's story. And we fall to our death. I dont think people get it.

I prefer the Black Widow Bride because she goes with the Hatbox Ghost. If you listen to "The Story And Song From The Haunted Mansion", you will hear of a bride with a beating heart, but as her heart beats, the Hatbox Ghost's head vanishes. _"Mike and Karen entered the door and came face to face with a ghost dressed as a bride. She was strangely illuminated and her heart glowed red with each heartbeat. The room they were in was an unfinished attic. And as they turned to run out of the door, another ghostly manifestation appeared and blocked their way. He was a cloaked figure with an evil, grinning face. A hatbox hung from his hand. With each beat of his bride's heart, his head disappeared from his body, and appeared in the hatbox."_ This part of the story was lost when the Hatbox Ghost illusion failed at first, but was alluded to with the introduction Constance and the portraits of her husbands. I would love to see them them come full circle by adding a heart to the Bride again and syncing it to the Hatbox Ghost, but keep the portraits. They're a neat trick too, and they are consistent with the story.

Never liked the Constance Hatchaway character, especially when you see her as a big projection, it just looks cheap at the end. The Beating Heart bride was so much more creepy and tragic since you didn't know her entire story, all that she remains haunting and her heart still beats for her lover.
