I'm not trying to sound rude here, but it seems like you don't know what the difference is between neg film and print film. The new tool in DaVinci tries to recreate “neg. film” characteristics. You shouldn't compare this with the Kodak 2383 Film Lut. The dehancer marketing strategy is completely out of control, but that's another story.

thanks for the effort for the video. it seems like this feature is aimed at a less experienced audience to make it more accessable.

I thought it was nice to have as a built in option, but I still default to film convert if that’s the kind of look I’m going far - mainly for the options and familiarity. It’ll be interesting to see how this feature progresses in future versions of DR though!

I thought it was pretty useless until I realized IT needed Cineon Film Log as the input so that it's working in that space. If you CST into Cineon before the FLC and use Cineon as the input it works much more accurately.

Where did you read that FLC needs Cineon Film Log as input. I don´t think it is true because FLC is trying to emulate "neg. film scan".

You are missing some points and there are some wrong concepts in the video. You are getting this result from Film Look Creator because you are not skipping the color transforms, and highlight compression is being applied. So, if you don't want to do any color transforms and use only the spatial emulation, you should bypass color transform. It is how I use it, when I use. About Dehancer, what you are showing are NOT print emulations. Those are the negative film emulations. Your print is set to "linear".

You should set it to 2383 if you want to use a Kodak based emulation of print film. Negative and print films are different things. Negative is the film used for capture, print films are the films used to PRINT the copies sent to projection. They are the final link in the photochemical chain. If you disable the negative and set print film to 2383, you should get a result closer to what the native look do. I don't use Dehancer anyway, but thats not the way it is supposed to work for PFE.
