He doesn't prove anything at all. West Ham's squad is simply good. The fact that he was in the lower midfield with this squad last season is the real outlier. I strongly assume that other coaches would get even more out of the team with the squad, the financial possibilities and the location advantage

Careful what you wish for…

You could see this a few nights ago against bouremouth. There were a few minutes left and with ball in possession they could not figure out how to start attacks... they seem to only go forward on fast breaks and on contra-pressing... West ham need a quiet and safe second half of the season in order to transitions to a more reliable system and tactic

@@MrSanguine no idea... but he was once seen as a ferguson successor... so there are reasons there. The least of the problems is Moyes, if there is no clear way of strategic thinking on a system am philosophy of play. Do you go with a ”park the bus” team and players that would realistically get you in the relegation battle year after year or do you try and recruit staff and players for an open play team based on a more attacking philosophy? The latter is a high risk and high reward approach. Look at Brighton an how they play within their means.

You're lucky - you don't have to sit through every minute of it! Soul destroying & really working well in the few games hasn't it - Bristol City x2, Sheff Utd, Bournemouth.

The pundits every week keep telling us fans what a great manager and job hes doing and how lucky we are so i say Moyes needs to go to a top 4 club where he belongs..i know what about Liverpool when Klopp leaves! 🤔

Try watching it every week. It is dross. West Ham being 6th is like seeing an elephant up a tree. You can see it up there but have no idea how it got there. There is NO way we will finish in the top 6 this season. Man Utd, Newcastle and possibly Brighton will all finish above us

This tactic only works when you’re absolutely ruthless and clinic on the few chances you get. If your attacking players hit abit of bad form you’ll find that no matter how well you defend you cannot score - meaning you’re likely going to lose 1/2/3-0

Very lucky to win the Conference cup last season, didn't come up against any quality till Fiorentina in the final. As for your analysis, try asking West Ham fans what they think of his brilliant masterplan, which regularly leaves us groaning with boredom. #Moyesout

U can only beat what’s in front of u and as u point out we managed to beat the quality in the final. Do u think it bothers Portsmouth fans that they only beat one quality side on their way to the FA Cup in 2008? I will agree that the method is tough to watch sometimes as it involves lots of defending and springing a quick break, but this side has finished top 10 three times in the last four years, which puts Moyes up there with Lyall and Redknapp as the only three whu mgrs to have done that. With the exception of the Cottee/McAvennie of the mid 80s and the miracle of getting Tevez and Javier in mid 2000s this is the best team we have had in 40 years and this method maximises our advantages. However I wouldn’t worry because Webuyanycar and Kudus will be off soon and so even if Moyes signs a new contract it’s highly unlikely we will replace with such quality and this method relies on those two and Bowen. So he’ll get the boot and then it’s back into the lottery of football mgrs. And the odds are unless we get the next Emery we won’t be getting 3-4 seasons in the top 10.

Doesn't this confirm that stats only provide persuasive arguments? If you rely on them too much then they can be misleading. Results matter, and just because some analytics say it shouldn't work doesn't mean it won't.

Moyes is clueless, his in game management is pathetic. He never deviates from his set up because to him it's a damning assessment of him and his tactics if he changes it. Basically he has no plan B. His substitutions are made on the 75-80 min mark. Hell the other day he brought Cornet on in the 93rd min. As a West Ham fan I've had a gutful of this style yet we are always told by the media how great Moyes is, he's not, he's just lucky and a dinosaur

What has changed from his time at Everton?

A system that relies on a hell of a lot of luck in defence and making sure you score basically every chance you have. We will not finish 6th in the league because luck runs out and we have used most of ours this season. If you are into football purely for results then this might look good at times, but if you are into it for entertainment and to actually enjoy watching the sport, then good luck watching West Ham.

I got no love for the bloke but that's a bit disrespectful he ain't the worst there's a fair few below him, sure his football puts the fans to sleep literally but he's been West Ham best manager in over 30+yrs laying a solid foundation and guided us to a cup, but yeah he needs to move on in the summer hopefully.

No chance of getting European football and quite the opposite in my opinion. West Ham will slide down the table over the next couple of months. Moyes is stuck in the dark ages and his luck will run out.

He was left with an aging squad that obviously couldn’t perform at the same level again. Wasn’t given the funds to rebuild and was undermined by the senior ‘pros’ in the squad. Utd fans scapegoat moyes when it was Ferguson’s and the Utd boards fault.

It's already being proven unsustainable. This year points dropped and even worse performances. Injuries,no youth or subs,apart from the most uninfluencable player in the league Ings. He's binned off two good players in Fornals and Kehrer with no "Moyes" replacements. He also screwed up Benrhama. He's been found out

And also one of the most successful brands of football for West Ham over the past 50 years considering you know he won a European competition and finished 6th then 7th in consecutive seasons in the best league in the world. I’m not a West Ham fan but I think it’s safe to say David Moyes has given the West Ham fans one of the best memories of their lives on that night in Prague. He’s achieved what most other managers could only dream of with that West Ham team so put some respect on his name.

Moyes United squad was a one trick pony. I watched most games and still remember how direct with no creative bone they were. 60-80 crosses to nobody. Moyes is not a good coach let alone manager. He got felliani and an over rated mata. Very below average players
