I've looked ll over the internet and have come up short trying to find a good review of the seat options for the Dark Horse. I noticed that you dont have the recaros, which I dont really care for, cn you share your experiences with your seats?

I was excited reading the MotorTrend Dark Horse results with their 12.00 at almost 119. The problem is nobody else has gotten ANYWHERE close to that! The average seems to be in the 12:40s which you also ran. I think it is very disappointing for a 70k+ mustang.

That excites you? The gen 3 coyote cars have gone faster bone stock. The Darkhorse requires C8 money. It should be running mid to high 11's @ over 120mph minimum.

Cool video! Here is something crazy. I have an associate at work that just bought a 2018 gt premium base non PP. With 27k miles. Paid 45k. I paid 39k 0 miles o% apr for a 2019 gt base PP1. What in the hell is up with that lol.

Motor Trend got a 12.2 at 116.8 in a 10r convertible and 12.0 at 118.4 in a 10r Dark Horse. So the S650s can still put down a glory number.

@@MimosaS550 Exactly. I think people are comparing the best S550 passes in mineshaft conditions and then complaining about S650 numbers in average conditions. Plus there are always those individual cars where all the tolerances line up favorably and they end up .1-.2 faster than all the rest.

@@davothegreat9990 IDK, but they noted the best S550 GT they tested did a 12.1, presumably using the same test method. And that was a hardtop. The vert is 150+ lbs heavier than a hardtop, so it looks to me that the S550 and S650 are pretty much dead nuts even.

In my opinion, the dark horse looks better/ much more sinister than the mach 1. It's really similar in many ways. But in the end you can't beat that interior and many other things.

@@scarface9617 I can see that. I was comparing the mach 1 and dark horse since they are more similar. I'm guessing they would run similar if the dark horse had a tire. Also i think think the dark horse has a different rear end gearing but I could be wrong. But like stang mode said it's a road course track car. If would destroy the gt in the turns. People only seem to care about drag times now days.

Stangmode can you check your 2024 quiet start up mode? Mine only seems to work if I start the car from inside the car. If I remote start it through the key fob or the ford app, it always starts in normal mode which is an issue for me since I put the x-pipe on it. My 18gt with active exhaust never had this issue.

I'm seeing S650's prices dropping like a rock in my area. The one I was looking at was $59,000 now they are asking $44,000??? What happened?

StangMode Awesome Video I think it's awesome that you tested out Anastasia's Dark Horse against Papa Smurf at Atco and I definitely agree that Dark Horses are Track Cars

Stangmode I have a question for you. Is there a difference between the DH engine and the GT engine. I hear the DH has forged pistons and rods. Did they borrow some of the GT 500 internals. Thanks man.

Brings to mind a saying I first heard in the early 70's - "Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?" FWIW, I don't personally care for the S550 or S650 platforms, but I don't think poorly of anyone that does. Everyone is different and likes different stuff.

Hennessey did a stock test, and let me yell you, wasn't a big difference. That's why I was interested to see this video. Excellent. 2020 rented a 5.0 10 auto convertible. 3.15 gears and the smaller tires believe 235s. Fronts at 45lbs rears at 26lbs. I ran 12.40@117 mph. I think that car has more in it.

I like the way the s650 looks in general and its performance seems fine. I think the disappointment is that it seems like a bad deal compared to the s550...although all cars have obviously gone up in price. The other problem is that Ford still couldn't come close to matching gm's alpha chassis. Could you imagine the looks of the Stang, with its daily livability and fantastic coyote mixed with the alpha chassis/steering feel and gm's somehow better 10speed programming or tremec on the gt? This is what disappoints some of us. For what they are charging they tweaked the s550 suspension and some exterior and interior bits. Seems for that you should be able to walk out with a Dark Horse no higher than 65 and bare bones one in the mid to upper 50s. Hopefully Ford keeps making them and improving them but I also hope the Mustang faithful send a message by balking at 70-80 grand Dark Horses. They are a bad performance deal period.

weight makes a huge difference! My buddy and i have identical stock 2022 supra 3.0s. I weigh 150lbs less than him. I run 11.95@116 he runs 12.2@114.

Don’t worry much about what people say about your weight. No one says anything about John Force, or Tony Steward about not being able to fit into a Miata or F1 car. Have fun. As in the S650 this is the early car. S550 wasn’t what it is now. The cars sold by Ford are built to be reliable long term cars that will drive over 200k miles. A 500hp 3900 lb car will be slow unmodified. I enjoy the content looking forward to seeing Ana’s and your impressions of driving the Mustang GTD on the track and drag. Stangmode in a 3000lb 800hp true race car will be a hoot!

Throttle House put out a comnparison on the 2024 Ford Mustang GT Premium with PP vs the Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 1LE and the GT PP came out with a 2 second slower time than the Gen3 S550 on the same track!

The only thing I hate is the slapped in tablets and the grille. That's it. The S650 overall look is too similar to the S550 for me to get excited about or to even hate on.

Just my 2cents but i have no hate for the S650, its more disappointment . I expected more ,like when the next Gen Camaro completely changed the platform and styling. I prefer a more retro look , like the S197 but with IRS and changed the headlights. When i drive at night i dont like the distraction of the dashboard so the new S650 tablet screen is a hard NO. Hype it all you want but i think they built this car for a completely different demographic than the one i am in. I vote with my wallet.

I wished you would have gotten the Dark Horse with out the track pack that would have been better for the drag strip with the Auto. That track pack puts allot aero drag on the dark horse. Non track pact Dark Horse with auto should be the fastest S650.

I love speed I really do. But it’s not everything. I like new vehicles idc what’s faster or slower. I’ll take a dark horse over an old mustang. Next, regarding your physique, being body shamed is not a bad thing, sometimes we need to be shamed. I was. I made the decision to lose weight (50 pounds) and never went back. Just do your best fam 💯

It's the Dark Horse specifically. The S650 is fine, but the Dark Horse is a bad performance/value ratio. Mototrend shows that my 2014 Mustang GT (if it were still stock) should match the Dark Horse 0-60, which means it costs about 5 times what you'd get in a late S197 from two generations before. Sure, those S650's will ride smoother and handle better, but if you just want muscle and a raw experience, you'd be a fool to buy the S650 for over $50k at all. I'm also not trying to trash talk the car itself, as I kind of like them (despite the obvious Camaro styling queues and Euro influence), but I agree the prices are insane, there's very little innovation compared to last gen, and if Ford drops the ball, they might actually end up cancelling their V8s because they don't sell well enough. They really should have made the standard GT engine the Voodoo 5.2 and brought Tremec back as the standard transmission. Then these would be worth $50-70k to start.

Mustangs have gotten to heavy. just imagine these cars with 200lbs of whipple on them. They'll be making over 800hp and struggling to break 10's. I just don't see the point of starting of with such a heavy platform, especially for drag racing.

I heard that the s650 has reduced speed and power until you break in 500 miles first. Maybe that’s why it appears slower than s550 🤷‍♂️
