Hello, In this video, our teacher was planning to introduce the topic "Is Chinese difficult?" to explain 很 + adjectives. But she changed her mind to say "I am busy" 我很忙. Both are helpful for learners to better understand “Subject + 很+adjectives” sentence pattern. Thanks for your feedback.

Great video. I believe that Mandarin Chinese is easy to learn it's that it just takes time to learn it.

@@tarekebrahimalbeahy6534The hardest of learning English is that English does have weird pronounciations. The hardest part of learning Spanish is the rolling r's while the hardest part of learning Mandarin is reading Chinese characters. That's the difference between those three languages.

So, how would you say 'she is very beautiful' or 'I am very tired' instead of just 'she is beautiful', 'I am tired'?

For those like me who were confused after the video because they have heard something like "wǒ hǎo" before, or because this video conflicts with what they were taught about Chinese: Strictly in terms of grammar, it's not actually wrong to just say "wǒ hǎo/máng/etc.", but outside of very specific situations, Chinese people simply don't talk like that.

Hello, Actually in daily life, we often say "wǒ hěn máng" in oral Chinese. "wǒ hǎo máng" are often negative words indicating “I'm unwilling to be too (very very) busy to do other things”. "wǒ hěn máng" are neutral words which can be positive or negative. E.g Wǒ hěn máng, dànshì wǒ xǐhuān zhè zhǒng shēnghuó. I'm busy but I like it.

Ni renshi cheng pin ma? Ni means you. Ren shi means know. Cheng pin is a name. Ma is a question word.

And men is a word that use to point more than one person. For example 'Wo men mean us'. 'Ni men mean you guys'. And Ta men mean they'

Hi I think after two years you deserve an answer, in my opinion I think mei is only used when saying mei guo (america), and piao liang being used to anything else, or you can use both Im not sure :/

@@Shutthefuccupppp1234 Of course there _is_ an explanation, "troll". A good linguist can explain it on the grounds of the history of the language and its phonology and phonotactics (e.g. in your example, the "gh" digraph is read as "f" in certain words that came from Scottish, if I remember correctly, when they are after the "au" diphthong). I'm fully aware that there are such "rules", and that's precisely what I was asking for: what "rule" explains this particular use case. And no, saying that "it's just the way is it", or "because God says so" is not a rule, it's merely a statement that you simply don't have a clue what the particular rule is and just parroting what you've been taught in school, without any actual understanding. Next time, if you don't actually know the answer, think twice before you hop on the keyboard, and let the grown ups talk, because you might just end up making fool of yourself, "troll".

Bon Bon OK, let me explain it based on my understanding (btw I’m a native Chinese speaker). Try to understand “subject + 很 adjective” as a simplified structure for “subject + 是 +很adjective +的” where 是 means “to be” and “的” is always (most of the time) required after an adjective when it is used. So when one says “我很忙”, the full sentence or what he is really saying is that “我是很忙的”. However, since such structure (subject + to be + adjective) is so commonly used in both colloquial and written Chinese, we sometimes (most of the time) will omit the verb which is 是 and only say the subject and the adjective. In the meantime, considering when we are describing someone or something, it is often a personal opinion so we always used 很 to express a very subjective judgement (for example 她很高). Often there is also some subtle exaggeration or emphasis involved as well. In fact the we do use both simplified and original form and they will have slightly different tone or meaning ( if you understand why 很 is used in the simplified from). Let me give you an example. When we say 答案是对的(the answer is right), we are stating the fact that the answer is objectivity correct. When we say 答案很对(the answer very right), we not only recognize the fact but also add some degree of compliments (like it is great of you that you got it corect). Likewise when we say 我很好( I very good), we are not only stating the fact that we are doing okay, we also imply that we are satisfied with ourselves and there is not need for you to worry. So this is definitely a strict language rule but a specific language phenomena. Of course I do understand it may be difficult for learners to understand, but I still hope my explain Marion helps.
