Plus, it cost money to use your mobile phone, depending how much data you're using monthly; if you have an unlimited plan on data then yes, but those plans are little more expensive. So, for now, we will have to just stick with what we have.

how do people judge convienient differently? i know in China from life in the UK AMERICA CANADA AUSTRAILIA, even places in Europe. like if you got to TOurist places in Europe you can walk out your hotel and get food or drink pretty easily even middle of the night.. but even STILL.. China is more convinient that a TOURIST wester destination. you can walk out your door in crazy hours in the morning, feel completely safe and literally get food, drink or anything you wanted.. in /UK everything is not only shut.. wihtout a CAR basically youre handicapped.. everythings to far apart. i think also in China like Ollies senario. it doesnt matter if he didnt speak English, if he slowy tried to explain and use hand actions ect.. someone will go out their way and try to help you, theyll try to understand. where as its pot luck in the west youre on your own they dont care, often youll meet an amazing person thatll go out their way and help you. most the time, your on your own. its like those people that have those phone cases with credit card holding slots.. and also slot to put cash lol.. its the best way to lost EVERYTHING all at once lol its kinda silly. i think its crazy how cheap that delivery app is for food, i never knew about that when i was there,, sheesh if i did... id be on it everyday hahaha

For everyday life, China is truly convenient, but every couple of years when it comes time to reapply for your visa, and also when it comes to banking, trying to figure everything out, and dealing with all of the procedures can feel very inconvenient. The differences between Chinese and Western governance systems are indeed reflected in every aspect of social life. I remember a business trip to Ottawa, the capital of Canada, and Toronto, the largest city in Canada. I was struck by the dilapidation of the city roads. When I asked my friend who had studied and lived in Canada for many years why they didn't maintain major repairs. He told me that the Canadian government had no money, that the money was in the hands of capitalists.

Hi Ollie, Great to see you making such positive video reports on China. Having lived in China for almost 5 years, I can wholly confer that your reporting on convenience in China is 100% correct. Myself and my wonderful Chinese wife have traveled thousands of miles on the fast train, the orange slower trains, and the little village green trains. Folk in Europe will never understand, or never want to believe just how convenient it is to live in China. Example. While in an temporary 1 day hotel room, passing a day waiting for a flight, my wife ordered a bowl of fresh fruit. Paid for on Weechat, then blow me down, less than 30 minutes later there is a knock on the door, and of fantastic bowl of fruit delivered. I think it was about 7 kuai. Amazing doesn't even come close. Best wishes to your dad, keep up the great reporting. Graham.

Don't ride on the motorway behind the delivery guy, ride on the sidewalk would be better, otherwise the traffic police will fine u. 3. Riding an e-bike without a helmet in Shenzhen will result in a fine. Shenzhen has the strictest traffic regulations in China, and its executive force is very strong.

You mentioned the train journey and cost, London to Birmingham being 190km and that costs approximately £30. Shenzhen to Guangzhou being not "slightly less" but a quarter less at 140km, and that costs around £6. So adding the quarter more (to make it even to the London to Birmingham distance), that would have made it £8. So, train journeys in China are around a quarter of the price the ripoff UK.

I agree with you Ollie. When I was working in Guangzhou a couple years ago I had cash…. I couldn’t get weechat pay or Ali pay because I wasn’t a resident of China. I remember buying a sandwich for lunch, I lined up to pay there 18 people in front of me paying by we chat…. It probably took about 18s!!! When they got to me they had to get someone else to take my money, get me some change ( I only had 100RMB i think). Meanwhile they must have served another 20 people before I got out of there….. red faced! 😊 Outside of work I tried to speak Mandarin in the shops and restaurants ( it’s was pretty poor! ) mainly to practice. I couldn’t stuff ok but it wasn’t all that easy but when I spoke Cantonese ( which is only marginally better) service often seemed on a different level! I definitely miss the convenience of China back here in Auckland! The metro and the high speed trains were awesome! Cool video Ollie. I really enjoyed it. 👍👍👍

One big benefit for their transport is being government/public funded. As you mentioned they can subsidise less profitable routes with more profitable ones and they only need to generate enough profit for maintenance etc so can afford to be cheaper. In the Uk the profit is the bottom line for private companies so unprofitable routes get axed and ticket prices get hiked up.
