    Thank you to everyone for your continued support! I hope you enjoyed this interview with King answering the question: What's It Like Being a Black Man in China? All countries (including China) have a certain level of racism, but hopefully today's vlog showed you more insights into why Chinese people are welcoming to ALL foreigners who come in the country. Cyrus, I would say "discrimination" is a better word than "racism" when you say "All countries (including China) have a certain level of racism,". People look down on other groups for various reasons. In China, it's more about the economic base, just like the confrontation between the rich and the poor. China gets along well with African countries because China does not have the baggage of colonization and slave trade. Curiosity about the different appearances of a group should not be seen as discrimination or even racism.

    Today's Chinese, especially the older generation, may be curious about foreigners' different appearances, such as white people's big noses, and black people's skins, but that's all. Chinese people do not have the historical sins that white people did, such as the slave trade, slave labor, and the discrimination and arrogance that came with it. It's funny that CNN and BBC created the Xinjiang forced labor and genocide crimes lies with no proven pieces of evidence. Just because they committed those crimes before, they naturally think other people will do the same.

Just like an American, Dr William Brown who used to live in Taiwan then moved to China when he was in his 20s, he just wanted to see how China is but he ended up living in China for more than 30 years. He loves China so much that he said he gets homesick after two weeks when he goes back to the US to meet his family. He also said he would love to live in China forever and wants to die there. He speaks perfect mandarin and was interviewed many times by Chinese channels. He was a teacher or professor in a Fujian school/university when President Xi was in charge of a small village in Fujian and they know each other. He said one time when he was sick, Xi already got promoted to President Xi then and even visited him in the hospital.

    As a Chinese, I won’t deny that certain Chinese people can be racist at times to Black Africans, but I would say that the racism is more so out of ignorance than hatred. That’s not to say that it’s ok, but it’s a lot easier to “solve” if ignorance is the main problem. I reckon that the same problems are present in Japan and Korea as well. China is 93% Han Chinese, so not a lot of people are exposed to other cultures and race. Even within the 93% Han Chinese, there are different Han cultures that other Han Chinese are not aware of, and ignorance may sometimes cause tensions. I’m a southern Chinese, and may sometimes find misunderstandings when communicating with some northern Chinese because I’m not used to their pattern of speech.

    I dare to say most racism is formed from the Chinese in the west. It is not hate but simply when they immigrated to the west. They formed a bias they should be thankful to the white. They live in a white culture. Blacks were dangerous. They were violent and they were criminals.

  • @hyc1266

    @hyc1266

    @@TAL142 I agree with you mostly. I don't know anything about racism until I immigrated to the US with my parent 49 years ago. Our dislike about the blacks is not due to their skin color but their "disrespectful" behavior and crimes targeting Asians and Chinese. Sure most of the blacks are good people but the few black criminals have created bad reputation of all blacks in the US. One of my best friends is black and the manager I like the most is also black. But my other personal experience is that most of the people had tried to harm and rob from me are blacks. So when I am walking on streets in US, I have to pay attention not to get too close to the blacks. Our "racism" in the US against the blacks are forced on us due to our daily life experience.

Met many young people eager to learn English, as well as aged fellows who were eager to show off their English capability. They would hover around any foreigners in sight to listen and converse with English at the "English Corner" as the section of the park was called, mainly on a Saturday morning. I can see you two & many other foreign people who come to China & stay here are walking so freely and relax. It's look so much more safer than let's say the US & etc. The Chinese are friendly & readily responds to foreigners.

    Very interesting Cyrus, every vlog of yours are opening my eyes and mind about China. Nice conversation with @KINGKWESI however he is talking too fast, I just pause and replay the video every now and then. But thanks to both of you, you are both amazing, looking forward to visit China in the future.

    Refuse Africa in China. It’s common sense. Don’t be fooled by the white stupidity. The white will be the new slaves in the West. The West will be destroyed by the black.

    it would be interesting to compare Racisim between those nations within the US Empire and those independent of the US Empire. My theory is those nations within the US Empire (with a history of African slavery and colonialism), and under the media influence of the US Empire, have a built in assumption that racism is natural and everywhere. Whereas those outside the US Empire believe racism is learned. /nb: differentiating between racism as basis of superiority/inferiority rather than simply being aware that races have differing physical characteristics.

    I think racism is both learned and natural. Growing I've been called the nastiest word you can imagine as a Chinese. But I don't even consider this as racism because in nature it's pretty normal if you look different, you tend to stand out. But racism for me is systematic dehumanization of a race or culture by a state such as the US and the West.

    Racism is down to ignorance and among the older generation in China....... Its how the British saw Prince Phillip as old and quirky!!!! BUT he was a ROYAL and wealthy! the racism if you encounter it in China would be among the old, uneducated, uncultured that have been locked / isolated away from the booming rest of China hence the rapid construction of HSR to bring EVERYONE together...... Im not saying only old chinese people are racist! im saying that theyre not........ used to, some things have been engrained, and is not meant to harm or insult...... like bad habits! its not the same as im going to stop you in traffic because youre black! im going to shoot you because youre black! or i hate you because youre black! You see Chinese and Japanese get along just fine too! Married with children! You see the Japanese speak very highly of the Chinese and the opposite of Japan! And no theyre not paid! youtube Hezhimeng with Ryo a Japanese director...... i love his work and his types of videos! Im in the UK! i still encounter racism and misunderstandings from old from young! UK considered first world, civilised and polite!!!!!? Surrey too!!!!
