But then again most of the stuff in school isn’t hard. It’s just time consuming; such as essays for example; I can write a perfectly well essay at the age of 15 if I put my time into it, but why the living fuck do I need to do it 4 times a month every school year sense I hit 10? The only thing changing is the topics and such; like writing a essay on fucking Romeo and Juliet to writing about Harriet Tubman or some shit like that. School doesn’t teach shit it only just repeats and stuff. I understand you point but first we need to get to the level of a good education system before we can be saying what your saying. Edit: I edited this to match the ideal English grammar. As I was taught 5 fucking years ago

@henrybartholomewdinglenut1178 I will agree that the system sucks. They should be teaching critical thinking but mostly go for rote memorization. The essays, though, are important because writing one requires you to think about the subject, process it, and find an approach to it. It's one of the few times they actually teach. That said, some of the subjects are absolutely stupid. No one needs to write an essay about Romeo and Juliet. Or any other novel or play. It should be reserved for subjects that require deep, personal thought.

EXACTLY!!! You have to be a millionaire living outside of reality not having to do any shit at all, to be capable of denouncing school as childcare with status games. School is supposed to help people develop. But when you look at this BLOB shrunk together into his small chair you see, how develpment is nothing, that he understands

This is such a dishonest answer, and watching the student's face as he accepted this absurd reply is a painful thing to watch. This is the first time I have ever commented on a reel. This is how objectionable this reply is. Cheating = dishonesty. Passing off something as your own work is lying. To prepare a child for a world of AI, give assignments designed specifically for it. God bless you and forgive you for the harm you caused to that student's future.

An absolutely horrible statement. Schools purpose is to help people grow. Not only teach them how to use the easiest way to a goal. This is why we learn how to add and subtract MANUALLY BEFORE we use the calculator. And it is GOOD! Because it teaches YOU something instead of using Chatgpt to do some stuff. But if you never understood personal growth, you think that school is about status games and childcare.

but most Schools have decent requirements for how you should research on the internet for anything. for chat gpt there cant be because your "research" is dependent on this bot who just makes randomly generated response based on how the programmers made it only.

Being dependent on AI for school and not learning yourself is a horrible idea. AI can make errors and have biases that was coded in accidentally and if u depend on it, it can trick you in important matter. AI will never be a good teacher nor an authority on any matters.

Do know that A.I is just a smart computer and can be changed in order for students o learn from it. Of course, don’t cheat with it. But Ai has helped me with outlines or references to do homework. I was struggling in algebra really badly during COVID and the references really. Helped me as I’m a visual learner rather than one thats it’s in class and listens to a person talk.

I wonder if the analogy really does fit correctly. Is school really a contest? I never thought of it in the way I do sport (which are contests by their nature), for instance. I think what's really going on is that if students don't get taught how to reason, they won't know if the AI/computer/calculator is incorrect. With calculators, we all fat-fingered before but without number sense we wouldn't be able to tell that something may not be right with a result. Similarly word sense may exist in people who read and write a lot and comes into play when we detect that a word may be misspelt or the wrong version of a word is used. These only come from real-world experience.

I think people who see Chat GPT as cheating or as a tool that stops our critical thinking skills are either not using the tool in a productive creative way or is just stuck in an old view of life that challenges all disrupting technologies. ChatGPT is a great tool for Socratic thinking which is one of the best ways to learn new and challenging information. I love how Emad answers the question- school is not a contest. It’s also time we understand that life is not a contest either

I think there’s an easy way to fix that problem. If I’m a teacher, I would change the grading system. So for example, 5 percent goes on homework’s and papers 75 percent goes on exams and test and 20 percent on attendance and participation. So if you fail test because your using A.I to do homework’s then you would be in trouble when it comes to exams and test.

You can still have a contest system ffs. Just have a chat gpt powered platform where it keeps giving you the answer as many time they ask it but makes sure they get the the core concept at the end by varying the questions or asking it later. This must be done in a testing room in school with only computers. The test begins in the beginning of the year and they have time till the end of the year to convince the computer that they understand all the concepts for that year.

Sure you can use it later in life, but it's not something we as a society should rely on. You should learn how to use critical thinking and learn information DURING school, to build up your fundamentals. Our society is built off the knowledge taught in schools, and even if you don't go on to use calculus or chemistry, that doesn't mean your classmates across the room who are applying themselves won't. Just like the video said, Chat GPT is a tool, but how they're suggesting it sounds like a crutch

Dood made up that school is a contest… its not… its a academic standard and you meet it or you dont… theres no contest that holds back or jumps ahead a kid because they are or arent proficient. A contest would just award you a prize at the end for one person. His first idea is ill and then he basically sells a kid the idea that he should use it because “it will be here from here on out” is a lie to make the kid use it and obey. U dont have to and its only purpose is to guide the masses with data sets added in by people who want it that way or selected reality. Not true reality but again a guide for making it happen later on

The education system just gets easier and easier as technology advances, therefore the schools will have to compensate for that by giving tougher questions which can be solved by chat gpt, but still challenges the student in the process. For example if you want the student to submit an essay on a topic, the topic can be a latest event that happened as chat gpt’s cut off date is till september 2021.
