I think the only reason Bradley doesn’t talk to Colin much but he talks to the others is because Colin is a hermit and never interacts with his phone

Yes I have one of those :) we don’t see each other at all out of school and barely see each other at school anyways, but when we do talk it’s as if we’ve been together all the time!! And it’s almost better because then we don’t run out of conversations to have lol

Gotta admire Bradley's honesty. Sometimes you may deeply care about someone and admire them but maintaining a friendship is a lot of work, I feel like.

Also actors are busy people, they are off doing different projects all the time, it is not uncommon for a lot of people to not always be in touch constantly after not working together. My best friend and I barely see each other and text here and there but we are still best friends.

I don't think Bradley and Colin not being in touch a lot is very surprising. Colin is a very private person and by his own admission is not a fan/user or a follower of social media and that's the way so many people stay in touch these days. He once said you only have to Google yourself once to know never, ever to do it again. Not that I blame him since it can be intrusive and time consuming. Bradley has the good fortune of being able to see Colin on stage in the UK something most of us will never see. I've seen some of Colins' films and he is an excellent actor-very gifted

There are videos of back stage of Merlin wich you can see they were very close in the reality and their where super fun when they were together. I also "ship" them in the reality because they were good friends, and real friendship is rare to find

I loved this series. It’s a shame they finished when they did. They had so much more material they could have used for great stories such as the search for the Holy Grail but even that aside there was no Albion, no “golden age that the poets speak of “ established when the show ended. So sad. I still love watching all the episodes. A quality production, great cast and a great musical score.

Honestly, it's good thing they ended when they did. They had written themselves into a corner with secretive Merlin and ignorant Arthur. They should have shown the Big Reveal when Uther died and Arthur became the king but they kept delaying it for no reason. Arthur should have been told of how the magic he hates actually helped him as well as the truth of Uther's hatred for magic (Merlin straight up lied to him about it). It's stupid that Merlin only revealed his true when Arthur was dying, so we didnt even get him have decent reaction to it.

Not particularly surprising. Friendships often fade and even die out as people move on in their lives. That’s assuming that they were actually friends in the first place, rather than colleagues who spent a lot of time working together and got on well. It’s nice to think that they were best buddies, like Merlin and Arthur were, but that’s a projection of our own imaginations and desires onto two people who we don’t really know. Reality and fiction are entirely separate worlds. I will always enjoy watching Merlin, no matter what the actors do, because it’s a fantasy that I love. I will also enjoy watching the video diaries and other behind the scenes extras because they are entertaining. And I wish the actors all the best in their future endeavours because they seem like nice people.

And some people just aren't very good at staying in touch with other people. I've tried to be better about it, but I'm just not a phone person. Neither is one of my friends. However, when we see each other, it's like no time has passed and we instantly pick up where we left off. I feel close to him even though we don't talk to each other a lot.

Okay, how do I start this. Well, first of all, I did not expect this video to get (almost) 200.000 views, that's insane. I guess many people were having the same question. However, I somehow also feel a little guilty for uploading this, since I don't want to interfere in other people's lives, you know. This warms my heart. I have a dear friend from grade school and this is exactly us. We email occasionally and try to meet up a couple times a year and when we do we can get lost in a conversation like we were just speaking yesterday instead of 3 months ago XD

I think people need to understand that he isn’t saying “We’re not friends anymore”, he’s saying they don’t keep in touch, which is very different. He says they “pick up where they left off” when they do see each other. I have a friend exactly like that. She and I can literally not talk for a couple years but we’re besties as soon as we see each other again. It’s very obvious that they’re not on bad terms or anything like that.

Colin comes across as a private guy, cant blame him for not doing social media.

Can we maybe respect that they're real people and stop pushing the shipping stuff onto the real people

They, like everyone, have their own lives to live. I had a childhood friend that left town, and I didn't see her again until my kids were teenagers. We spent a few hours catching up, and then we had to get back to our lives. Since then, it's been the occasional FB post or message. The fantasy those two created for Merlin & Arthur is epic, and we'll always remember them like that. I'm sure their friendship is still there, but with busy lives, it can be hard to stay in touch all the time.

I literally jumped with an excitement to get this notification. Edit:But I'm not satisfied with the answer.

genuinely i think its because hes getting older, which is upsetting because hes still such a good actor but people liked him more in his prime, he did get casted in the show valhalla not too long ago though its still being made i think ?

My very best friend and I are hardly in contact all the time. We might message each other once in a while but that’s it- until we get to see each other in person again, which is every like 5 months or so. And our relationship is unbreakable and strong as ever. ❤️ So this is not unusual or sad, it’s just what their friendship is. :) Also, Colin’s rather introverted and not on social media much (I totally relate), so that’s just the way their relationship works. ☺️

Actors are busy, like lot, so seeing friends often means you have to be in the same project. So the fact Bradley is able to go and see Colin's stage work is right in line with what a real friend does. Plus like Medici is filmed _in Italy_ , Bradley was out of the country a lot for that job!

I'm still waiting for the rise of Arthur, I guess it will definitely not happen :(

Imagine if all actors kept up with every other actor that they have had contact with on a set. Gary Oldman would be sending 2,000 texts a day just to keep up...

this (if i’m understanding correctly) is actually super sweet. i had some friends from high school who i used to talk to everyday but now we’ve all moved on with our lives we only really talk a couple times a year. it doesn’t feel like any time has passed when we do, and i know i can just call them up for a chat if i need anything. just.. i think that is the sign of a good (lasting) friendship, especially when i assume colin is like me and finds keeping in contact with people much more difficult when you’re not forced to via work/school. but then again, even if they don’t keep contact anymore, that also doesn’t mean that they weren’t friends in the first place or that someone messed up. i know plenty of people that i used to be super close to who i don’t really even think about anymore. idk, i’m just glad that this seems like the friendship they did have was genuine, and by all accounts probably still is

Bradley is such a lovely guy. He doesn't spk badly about Colin at all. He accepts that he is a private person. Merlin was a fantastic series - and it's thanks to the actors and indeed everyone involved in it that made it that good.

Thing is, actors usually don't work with the same people for the same amount of time as most other jobs. And film/tv sets are HUGE, sometimes hundreds of people working on them, and you're cycling through them every few months/years. It'd be impossible to keep in touch with everyone. Just the way it is.

Those friends I made in school where we were in touch all day, just as Colin and Bradley had a lot of together time during the years of filming, and once you truly bond in such an intense, longer period of time you bond for life, you'll see each other after ages and it'll be just as if you never left

He honestly did not need to be honest about this and he CHOSE to be, I love that. After working with some actors who spent years together, sometimes they havent had the chance to bump paths. AND Colin is also a recluse. Its pretty normal.

Im really not sure how to feel about this. I am somewhat disappointed but then again you don’t really have to constantly be in touch with someone to be great Friends and as Bradley said pick up where you left off with someone. He does talk to the rest of the members of the cast. Merlin ended nine years ago so I guess things change in almost a decade. only us fans have been keeping the Merlin fandom alive. It’s a shame because so many people wanted a series six but I feel like it would have to take a miracle for that to happen at this point.

One of my best friends from long ago I only speak with about once a year on the phone (he lives 1700 miles from me). We have a great chat - pick right up where left off and talk for an hour or so. Then another year goes by! Still doesn't mean we're not close friends. Friendships change and ebb and flow.

It's strange that some people think just because you worked closely and got along great, you would become life long best friends. That's just not realistic, we are all different and have different needs. It's more likely to become very cordial acquaintances, which seems to be the case here.
