My parents worked with Uncle Bruce & Aunty Maile back in Kona, many years ago... They were the ORIGINAL owners or Island Flavor in Las Vegas (Durango). I wish they never left the 9th Island but I'm glad to see them doing well in SoCal!

Love love sweet sour spareribs. My mom taught me once gosh it was a long process. Respect her love in every meal she made us. My fav birthday dinner every year was her s/s spareribs and her Cantonese shrimp ❤️

I was salivating throughout the video. Outstanding homey meals. What a spectacular finish with the chantilly cake. I have a list of places to go to whenever I can visit my friends on the Kailua side.

Wow! I l9ve the Hawaiian food is tasty! The short ribs is Hawaiian comfort food! The Roast Pork is what I see in most Hawaiian resteraunts!! The beef YUM. CANT REMEMBER THE NAME OF HAWAIIAN BREAKFAST THAT THEY SERVE. LOVE THE WHOLE PIG THAT THEY COOK UNER GROUND WITH BANANA LEAVES!!! LOVE THE CHANTILLY CREAM CAKE YUM CHOCOLATE AND THE PUFFS.

The food looked great. Definitely had that Hawaii look. I thought for sure you guys would get the oxtail soup when it flashed on the menu. hehe

Nice video. Went there a few times prior to Covid. Going to go back there sometimes this year. Big portions. The food is really good. Have not tried the poke. The Kalbi is great.

You're tugging at my heart with these awesome places in Carson and Torrance. Lived in Carson back in the 70's and both Torrance and Carson had an abundance of terrific eating spots back then as well. Thanks for the Must-Do on my next trip to SoCal. Coming all the way from the Mariana Islands.

Love Aunty Maile and Uncle Bruce! They had a restaurant here in Las Vegas. I visit their Torrance location whenever I get the chance. I’m also from the Big Island and grew up with their restaurant in Kona called Big Island Grill. You must try the furikake chicken next time! 🤙🏼

I've been to this place years and years ago. I will definitely check it out. Kings Hawaiian is the best place for HI food to my estimation. But it's all the up in the heart of Torrance and it's quite a ways out from the freeway. I will check out this place since its not too far from the freeway exit. Thank you.

Thanks Jade! Brown gravy used on Loco Loco's is rich, beefy in flavor, a little salty, perfect over rice and eggs.

Have you visited Hamura's Saimen in Lihue, Kauai. It was awarded the James Beard Award. The dashi is great!!

Looking pretty legit. Wish this place was around when I lived in Signal Hill. Recommend: Next time you are on Oahu.. Ige's Lunchwagon...which is not a lunch wagon (food truck), but a take out place in Waimalu (across the street from Shiro's Saimin Haven....largest portions on the island, promise! Have a great day!

I agree with you, I'm from the UK and can't comprehend why plastic forks, spoons, plates etc are used. The only good thing is that any leftovers are super easy to take home. Cardboard would be a better option with real cutlery x

They probably took that into consideration. Cardboard and paper bags are expensive. Unlike corporations, mom and pop restaurants have slim profit margins. Ps...if you look at their website they use plates.

I'm sorry but that poke in the beginning does not look fresh. I'm sure it taste good but that ahi is previously frozen... just look at his first bite... that piece was a perfect cut square piece of ahi lmao.

I think you spend too much time describing every bitec of food you take. We get it

That's very subjective though and perhaps they're not waving their arms in the air enough. As long as a food reveiwer isn't playing around with his food, it's all good with me.
