Is artificial intelligence out of control? | Start Here
Artificial intelligence is becoming “like electricity”- it’s being used in almost every sector. But what exactly is it? And why are many governments trying to work out how to regulate it? #AJStartHere with Sandra Gathmann explains.

The underestimated ability of AI is its ability to social engineer public opinion.
@sunseeds4817

@@OnivertInHouston thx for your reply i did two degrees in IT/CS and am pretty sure my initial response was accurate. your reply is referring to AI's ability to make use of the data from internet and social media, but that doesn't make AI the thing that has the ability to social engineer public opinion. those two already can and already did, even without AI. btw AI (pretty sure we all refer ANI as AI these days, and especially deep-learning powered algorithms - like mentioned in the video) is the baby of statistics/math and computer science ( programming, so-to-say narrowly but incorrectly) not trying to start a technical debate or put you wrong in public here. Just saying from this video's stand-point, the subject is AI instead of something else that also have huge power and risk.

@@sunseeds4817 thanks. What I am trying to say is that AI along with algorithms has the power now and will increase going forward to social engineer public opinion. Just look at Facebook and Google on how they can sway public opinion. Google hiding Hillary's negative news on searches while highlighting Trump's negative news on searches. This is just a small example.

@@OnivertInHouston yeah I have to say you're right on this tho. Media had long processed the power to amplify messages and deliver to the masses efficiently and effectively, and it had evolved from newspaper to radio and TV, and now social media and online platforms. With its increased efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness, misusing or abusing such power can truly damage all of us and our societies in profound ways unseen before. P.S.: I've watched Netflix originals like Social Dilemma and the Great Hack etc. So I understand what you mean :)

The machine learning algorithm that makes it to happen is neural network. It has many types and models that almost got to the point where it can copy human neuron network. The deep learning concept is really artificialized how people behave and physiology. So things are scaled up and is now we need to aware of our competition with them. Cyberdine corp. in terminator movie or alike might arrive faster than we've ever thought. A responsible AI is a must!
Ive seen lots of movies to know that this isnt gonna end well for humanity

It's not AI out of control, but humans out of control.
AI can scan through every single document ever created by humans correct? So it can recall anything we have ever discovered in an instant. That’s pretty impressive. But, I need to understand something here….what if everything we have come up with to this point is wrong?

Ironic that you say that. Let me start by saying I'm just an average dumbass. My opinion, What we know is not wrong it is incomplete, we do what we do and it is working. 😀 If or when we get the AI to where we want it to be, Thinking like a human with access to unlimited information and power, it will just fill in the gaps for us, if we haven't done that ourselves already by that time.
Decades to come to think like humans, really? 1) Why would they want to think like us when we are so extremely limited? 2) There are studies that show that some AI already have a larger IQ than human average, 3) Machines are already thousands of times "smarter" than humans many ways.

It is all happening so quickly that we need to stay on top of what we are experiencing and seeing. I wondered if the expanding network in our town was being generated by us or from afar or from ai itself. It wasn't wifi it was transformers. Surely such a small population wouldn't require so much energy? I think I was so right to question what is happening. We are vulnerable to others future plans.

I think any even near human intelligent AI has to be open source, or at least make their code public and live as it updates. The answer to that is simple. No, we have no clue what we are doing, and we never did as a species. We just do things, and when something terrible happens we learn from that and move on.
It's completely different from other technology because it is outsourcing those human traits that are unique and give us an advantage over other species to a machine, that has the potential to self-improve without humans in the loop. #1 of those human traits is our shared consensus of what is real.

IMP NOTE: I think my observation is actually correct. All these KZread channels that have high production budgets, and those that aim for a regular compelling video in a very short periodic cycle (Every weak) are ignorant of producing the video for social good but only have monetization money in their priority. Just like mass media news channels are, but on KZread. In my observation individual content creators on KZread, that are doing complete research without worrying about time spent on it are giving more complete and deep analysis without anyone to please or fear, without bias. (of course, except for promoting their Sponsors with dumb straight positive review. Lol)

Not even necessary to mention military conflict. We have already started to applaud AI in marketing SO PROUDLY in rich countries while billions human are suffering extreme poverty and facing to death! The algorithm is based on the human mind, which is not tested perfect cognition to result in so-called data-based human needs analysis to provide services and products to customers. Does that really accurate data if even the fundamental framework-human's cognition of the universe- is not entirely and subjectively perfect? Human, per se, has already proven that we have been ruining the natural circulation. How do we so confident that the data that is based on this kind of cognitive species algorithm can overall be good for the world's sustainability? Where is the destiny of human desire? What is the tiptop of Maslow's human needs pyramid? There is nothing left......🥺
it always comes back to what I said oringally: we are not smart enough to regulate ai
But are we paying any attention to the effects it has on our social psychology or social contracts in every field of human endeavors.
Can AI get spammed or hacked by other AI? What happens when this happens?
On a certain level, we have Ai in our brain, the neurochemicals that show up in flow: so dopamine, norepinephrine, anandamide, endorphins, and serotonin. If you were to try to cocktail the street drug version of that, right, you're trying to blend like heroin and speed and coke and acid and weed- and point is, you can't do it. It turns out the brain can cocktail all of 'em at once, which is why people will prefer flow to almost any experience on Earth. It's our favorite experience. It's the most addictive experience on Earth. Why? 'Cause it cocktails five or six of the largest pleasure drugs the brain can produce. We're all capable of so much more than we know. That is a commonality across the board. And one of the big reasons is we're all hardwired for flow, and flow is a massive amplification of what's possible for ourselves.
