My dad sang this song every day. He passed in ‘21. Thanks for doing this amazing cover.
Colter Walls is currently my favourite artist. I discovered him only recently, and he is already my most streamed artist on Spotify.

Colter is great, but, in my opinion, Corb Lund is the most talented. He's the Boss of Western music.
The only man alive that can do Ole Charlie proud with this song
I'm convinced the man can do no wrong. His songs immediately take me to the Wild West and I turn into a cowpoke when I hear is stuff!

It's true.
If anyone can wrest country/western music from the grip of cotton candy pop, that person is Colter Wall.
Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷. Living in the countryside I really enjoy listening to Colter Wall. 🤠🤠🤠
I like Colter's take on this. Unfortunately it's hard to get the late great Charlie Pride's version out of my head.

Nothing beats Doug Sahm’s original to me
Showed my grandpa Colter and he messaged me back that he feels like it’s the grand old age of frontier country mixed with the 80’s country mixed with soul… he’s just a smart phone and won’t stop sending me colter and Tyler Childers vids haha
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Colter Wall with a Charley Pride classic. Take it away Colter!
Wish you'd come to Australia someday Colter. Huge fan.
When I saw the notification for him playing this song, my jaw dropped My favorite artist, playing my favorite song 🎵 ❤️ Life is good
This is such a Colter Wall song.
Thanks for your insight…ride on home!

I've always thought Colters style sounds very similar to Charlie Pride..very nicely done Colter
What's to say this version is a great take of a classic Charlie Pride song,as always Colter Walls put his spin.on it,warms this old soul to see someone still doing classic country
Another Great tune, from a super talented Canadian.
Not sure if Colter Wall will ever see this but man… I sure would love to hear him sing “Blackjack County Chain”

Thank you Mr. Wall, for keeping real music alive.

@taylor tobitt so I had bought Chris Stapleton tickets for my parents and me and my daughter like a year ago. Then Stapleton postponed the show for the same night Colter was at the Ryman. My daughter and dad love Stapleton (me too) but I had to act like it didn't bother me that Colter was at the Ryman while we were at Bridgestone. I felt sick to my stomach all night lol Still kicking myself. Stapleton was supposed to be in October, postponed for December 10 I believe. The worst part was my cousin went to see Colter and we don't really get along all that well so he wouldn't send me any video or a picture or nothing 😆 I sure hope he comes back to Nashville dang it
Ah great take on a good song.
Colter always busts out some great takes on the classics and makes em his own. I like that.
The cover I didn’t know I needed, good work sir:
He’s amazing at everything he does
I grew up listening to Charley Pride, well done young man
Great version! The progression immediately reminds me of Cash's "Country Trash" and Alan Jackson's "Pop a Top"
@JoeSmith-dl9ok
2 жыл бұрын
Alan Jackson is just Jimmy Buffett light-part of that generation that ruined country music-Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and George Strait. They paved the way for this pop country bullshit, they aren’t “the greats”-they ruined everything
@johnsonaification

@@JoeSmith-dl9ok I tend to agree, and I'm not saying this version is like those artists. This version is Colter as we know and love. I'm saying that the literal notes, the chord progression, is similar to those tunes. The first 12 seconds especially is very similar to Country Trash.
Incredible as always.

Rain drippin' off the brim of my hat It sure is cold today Here I am walkin' down 66 Wish she hadn't done me that way Sleepin' under a table in a roadside park A man could wake up dead But it sure seems warmer than it did Sleepin' in our king-sized bed Is anybody goin' to San Antone Or Phoenix, Arizona? Any place is alright as long as I Can forget I've ever known her Wind whippin' down the neck of my shirt Like I ain't got nothin' on But I'd rather fight the wind and rain Than what I've been fightin' at home Yonder comes a truck with the U.S. Mail People writin' letters back home Tomorrow, she'll probably want me back But I'll still be just as gone Is anybody goin' to San Antone Or Phoenix, Arizona? Any place is alright as long as I Can forget I've ever known her
