I don't hate roof top tents, but I'd never have one, i don't like having to tear down my camp site to go exploring. Mounting it on a small trailer, although a pain, is a better option for me.
Appreciate the transparency of the sponsored video. Not a lot of people out there to admit it and being honest all at the same time.

Thanks for the feedback! I just got their awning too…wouldn’t have agreed to that (signed a new contract for content creation) if I was unhappy with the tent! I will be releasing a video on long term use of the tent soon as I’m coming up on one year of use!

Happy to see these clamshells with the raised lower section now. I ses a few companies rocking that style now.

@RobMascarinas I’m not exactly sure. Hard shell with a X hinge?
Interesting tent. Nice, thorough review 👍 my traction boards are going back lower somewhere, getting them down when off camber was sketchy
Great video! Really considering a RTT now. Gosh darn it. 😂

I’m not even a little bit disappointed with it! Super cool company to work with also, they’re very open to feedback and input
Hey thank you! Great review! Wanting to buy this tent soon actually- but needing to purchase a roof rack first, for a Honda pilot 2011 I just bought. I’m looking at a Rob Deezy….but what are you using for your jeep? Maybe that will work for me as well, and can save some money that way….. Thank you! Jessica

I was just using a Thule rack at first. Keep in mind it is a heavy tent. I have different rack now which is more like a Prinsu style rack with 8 attachment points
How sturdy are the racks on top of the shell and are they fixed or do they adjust?
@DirtRoadTherapy

Rack is very sturdy, can be slid forward or back by loosening the screws, and there are some different holes drilled in it to move or add cross supports.
Im 6'3 my wife is 5'10 enough side to side room ? great review ans nice price point

I think you’d be comfortable, but check out the new lighter one they came out with! Longer, slimmer (possibly the only drawback as it would make fitting bedding difficult or impossible) and about 40 lbs lighter. A few hundred cheaper also. DRT5OFF code applies 😎
I saw another comment you added a sleeping pad. How thick was it and were you able to close the tent with the original mattress, sleeping pad, and sleeping bags/pillows? How tall are you? I’m 6’4 and I like the fact this gives more room than a normal wedge style tent

I added a 2" mattress topper. I can still close the tent with blankets or sleeping bags inside, but I have to take the pillows out. I am 5'10" and have plenty of room. I have a few friends who are around 6'4" and I want to have them try out the tent for my next video on it, and let them speak to how comfortable the interior length is for them.

82x50 inches EDIT: this is what I had written down. My actual measurements of the interior footprint are 76.5”x44”
How about the mattress?

I’ll discuss this more in depth in a longer term review coming up. It’s a quality mattress and I appreciate that it’s quite firm, but I needed to add a topper for added comfort
Just out of curiosity what roof rails are you using.
@DirtRoadTherapy

These were just old Thule rails that mounted to the drip rail. I have a really nice roof rack now from Exodus Overland

Thanks appreciate it, I just bought a 2000 Cherokee wanting to get RTT. Might go with Thule rails and upgrade later.
