Excellent straight forward honest review. I have the 900 and have never had issues hearing dialogue so there isn't any need to purchase the Ultra. Bose definitely needs to release an excellent pair of upward firing rear speakers and why they have not as of yet is beyond my comprehension.

What's wrong with Bose rear surround speakers? I don't have a home cinema setup yet and would like to know the difference between those rears and the ones that other brands offer.

Who wants to bet that "AI" mode is just boosting specific frequencies on the center channel to achieve clearer dialogue, much like AVRs from Denon and Marantz have been doing for years now? AI has become the latest hype word for marketing departments.

Bose said they’d be no more confusing names, then come up with ‘Smart Ultra’ 😂 . It seems to be a decent product from Bose. I still really like the design.

The rears are solid if you calibrate them with a towel over them they’ll get loud

I had them and they worked like any other surround speakers. But I realized that the soundbar alone did the same job as the rear speakers. I barely noticed a difference using the surround speakers and the soundbar alone. The soundbar is like magic it feels like it created a little sound bubble around you. It’s amazing

According to different posts on the internet the Ultra has a 5.1.2 setup whilst the 900 is 5.0.2. Are they any differences in terms of bass?

I’ve been have trouble finding a good sound been thru a couple the lastest is a Jbl bar 1000 and if garage any ideas on a good one. Bose has a sale of bar 900 and module 700 for about $1300 any recommendations

Can anyone tell me if the Smart Ultra is worth the $200 extra over the 900? I have the 600 (LOVE IT) and would like to move that to my bedroom. It would be paired with the Bass Module 500 until I get the 700 and move the 500 to the bedroom as well.

Can you make a test review between jbl authentic and marshall acton iii?

Has anyone purchased this and the Sonos arc and compared in the same living space?

Dialogue on my 900 is already very clear. Not sure how it can be improved without negativity impacting the overall sound. I’d also be concerned about music colouration, or is it smart enough to know not to mess with it?

Yes. News and sports though its not great for. It’s really for movies and series.

Hey, what do you think about Philips Fidelio TAFB1? It's also can be use as a standalone soundar. Has DTS:X, IMAX Enhanced. I think can be a really big gamechanger in competitions but there are to little tests and comparisons. Maybe it's the best soundbar compare to BOSE 900, Sonos Arc... soundbars without sub.

I'm thinking of buying a soundbar, but I can't decide between Sennheiser Ambeo Plus or mini or Bose smart ultra soundbar. As someone who has experienced both, which one do you think is better? Note: I care about detail in sound. Also which one has better music performance. Thank you very much.

We would recommend the Ambeo plus for your needs, its detail is class leading and performs very well with music too. Hopefully there will be some good Black Friday deals too 🤝

On sale now $799 , Best Buy just refunded me 100 bucks because I paid $899 earlier this month.

The built in Chromecast is just for playing Musik on the Soundbar if i got it right

Drives me crazy how many movie minded soundbars with upfiring atmos channels etc. don’t have DTS. I would like to try the Bose, but it’s automatic DQ if it doesn’t have 4K passthrough or DTS support…

I have the original 900 with everything and I dont know what your looking for but when you’re watching movies and ppl knock on doors and stuff like that. It feels and sounds like somebody is really knocking on your door. That’s how good it is.

Dts is for discs. If youre a disc junky then sure. Only thing that MAY sway sonos and bose to get DTSX/HD is when disney implements DTS imax sound

The ultra soundbar does play DTS audio (converted to raw LPCM audio) via a blu ray player. The LPCM is the uncompressed DTS audio and it sounds great. The Dolby Atmos also sounds amazing when paired with the Bass 700 unit and Bose surround speakers.

Do you think the bose ultra + sub 700 competes with the arc + sub gen 3?

sub 700 and bose ultra was a nightmare had to return it. wouldn't connect, popping and cracking sounds from bass..just youtube bose bass cracking sounds

It's good but it's expensive and No Signal reception of DTS 😮

I have the SoundTouch 300 bar from almost ten years ago and this doesn’t seem that much different 😅

sennheiser ambeo plus or bose smart ultra. which one u would choose and why if u had only one decision.

Bose because you can add a whole system. The bose is right on par with the ambeo plus. However if you are looking solely on a single bar, then ambeo. Ambeo does get a little louder. I own both.

@@KZreadSalvatrucha surrounds have been discussed by consumers since the plus released. Sennheiser themselves have never hinted at surrounds. It also defeats the purpose of the ambeo marketing as an “all in one” solution. The ambeo, with surrounds, would pretty much beat every soundbar system out there. Competition would definitely be something companies would feel. Yes the ambeo does beat the bose as a single bar for sure. Sennheisers wizardry tech inside is what makes it unique. However, it still has shortcomings

I have the 700 as well and I’m also curious about upgrading. I heard the 700 can play louder than the 900, which might make it better for music. The 900 has the atmos feature which makes it appealing. I’m torn

Can’t understand why Bose make different remote controls and make it so confusing.. for example I had the 700 was a long remote control, nice. but useless.. I end up buying the 900 and the remote control is super cool.

Not really. There are way better Systems for less money. Music is not the main focus for this soundbar. It's way better for movies

So they updated the soundbar 900, but couldn't update the worst rears available for a soundbar, i or the old sub 700. Hmm.

Sound from Samsung 990C far superior and cheaper with the included woofer and rears. And looks better. Hate the glass

After owning this for three months, its clear this product is an absolute failure by Bose. Tech in this is garbage, connection always drops with smart tv and firmware can never update successfully, ether manually or automatically. You need to call customer support and be prepared for a long chat as they need to backdoor IP into your product to push the firmware update. When this sound bar does work, the sound is OK at best. this product is garbage for the price! AVOID THIS AT ALL COSTS!
