What an interesting and thought-provoking question! It seems like one of those kinds of questions that would have one walking the proverbial tightrope. I would have to say "No" from my end. Leather footwear has no nerve endings to register sensation, whereas a bare or socked foot does. That is not to say that the person whose hands are applying the various leather balms and what-not cannot cause a sense of touchy-feeliness to the feet of the person wearing the shoe. On the other hand, if the shoe shiner was to get permission from the person sitting in their shine station to remove their footwear after the shoe shine is complete and physically massage their foot... then it would have to be a "Yes" in my opinion.

Considering how jealous my feet are, I'd say yes it is definitely a foot massage. 😁🥰😁

Where are you working now? Planning a trip to Denver this summer and want to see if I can get a shine from the one and only.
