they will be raising the prices of the Pass in October I believe, and even then it depends on where you travel to, too make it worth it. With these MASSIVE price increase it might be better to pass on it if you only go for a short time. Love the vids <3

I check the price on all my train use in Japan before I book my JR pass. Getting the JR Pass will save me roughly $150 over the length of my trip, not including using the pass for the JR transit routes in Tokyo.

Been to Japan for 2 and a half weeks. I spent almost 1700 on transport especially using lots of bullet train. For me it's worth it and I spent 525 dollars. As she mentioned it truly depends on your transpo plan

Is a Suica card only available in certain places?

Been to Japan more than 25x but mostly in Tokyo except going to Nikko, Yokohama, Kamakura, Kawaguchiko, Shizuoka, Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto, Nara by using trains and buses, never a shinkansen or JR Railpass because there are express trains available anyway. Flew direct to Osaka, then went to Kobe, Kyoto and Nara, cheaper express trains because the 3 are near Osaka. Most are daytrips only with Tokyo as base, but left Tokyo for Yokohama, spent 3 nights to see sights there, then went to Kamakura for a daytrip, returned to Yokohama to rest & sleep, then returned to Tokyo the following day. Just did researches how to access cities near base, the transportations available, accom, etc.

I'd love to try Express Sleeper trains to travel between cities. Do l buy the tickets with Suica card?

Buy a regional pass. There’s no reason for most people to get entirely of Japan anyway. A local Kansai pass works. Or there are non JR company like kintetsu that offers a regional pass for less. The more you learn..: if you bought a regional pass you’d have saved. I’m buying a southern Hokkaido pass when I’m visiting this winter. It’s less than $100 for 4-6 days I believe.

I went in may for 20 days and did Tokyo - Kyoto - Beppu in Kyushu - Osaka - Tokyo using the 14 day JR Pass as I didn’t need it once getting to Tokyo. I saved quite a lot in fares as I travelled long distances. With the new pass cost and if the individual fares don’t increase I’d be out of pocket even with such long distance travel.

Hi this was helpful as I’m going to Japan in a month. You mentioned that you stayed in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto within the 2 week trip but only used bullet train once. 1) Did you go from city to city or return to Tokyo after a visit?

I am planning to visit tokyo, kyoto, osaka 3 days each. I was wondering do I need a 14 or 7 day jrpass. I think 7 day should be enough as I understood. Thanks in advance :)

I will visit Japan in October 2024. And planning to visit besides Tokyo, only Osaka and Kyoto…Nothing more. I guess that it’s not worth it then to buy a JR Pass for the Shinkansen isn’t ?

I'm going to Japan for two weeks next month. I'm starting in Tokyo and making my way to Kyoto, Kobe and Osaka. Wondering if I should buy the 2 week pass or just a one week since I'll be spending the first couple of days in tokyo and have to return to tokyo to catch my flight out. Hmmmm

it feels like a trip as major as to Japan, it would be worth the extra $100 to just have 1 pass and not have to worry about it.
