Is 75% attendance in B-tech, M-Tech in IIT a bad rule? Why 75% attendance rule exists?

The requirement of 75% attendance in IITs and other engineering colleges in India is usually a rule implemented by the colleges themselves or by the university to which they are affiliated. This rule is generally in place to ensure that students attend their classes regularly and do not miss out on important lectures, discussions, and other learning activities.
While the requirement of 75% attendance in engineering colleges in India is intended to promote regular attendance and academic success, there are differing opinions on this matter.
Some people believe that this rule is too strict and can be detrimental to students. They argue that students may have valid reasons for missing classes, such as illness, family emergencies, or participation in extracurricular activities. The strict attendance requirement may put undue pressure on students and force them to attend classes even when they are not feeling well or when they have other important commitments.
Others argue that the 75% attendance rule is necessary to ensure that students receive a quality education. They contend that attendance is a critical component of learning, and students who miss classes frequently are likely to fall behind in their studies. Moreover, students who do not attend classes regularly may not be able to participate fully in discussions, group projects, and other learning activities, which can hinder their academic progress.
Anyway I have shared my own experience and opinions as an IIT Delhi post graduate in this video.

Engineering becomes tough because of the professors in IITs .... They can be good researchers...but they don't know how to become friendly and teach properly. I was very interested in doing research and left my job and took admission in IIT... But now I'm totally demotivated..... It becomes very difficult to sustain in such a demotivating and boring environment... I have done btech from Jadavpur University.... believe me JU gives a colorful life ....
