Great video, youngster! I am 53 and just about ready to start training with Swift on March 13th. My divorce was almost 7 years ago, done with child support, and kids are grown. I've got a great wife now who may even come out on the road with me after a while. I've got to the stage in life where I am ready to do something I want to do instead of what I have to do to bring in a paycheck. Love your videos, keep 'em coming.

Guilty, new sub, like the content. I was 53 when i started in this business. AFter 30 years in previous line of work. this was something I always wanted to do. Started on Van's but didn't care for lack of physical effort. Started flatbed back in October. It kicked my ass. never thought i would climb up and down off of the trailer. Tarping!?!?!?!!? my loads always looks like it was wrapped by a 5 year old. Gotta keep working on that. Keep the vid's coming and good luck with the new gig.

well said young blood, I'm 56 started with CR England last summer, kept my eyes and ears open and my mind open to change, got CDL, went through phase I, phase 2, phase 2 lead, kept my logs and DSP at zero then at 5 months was given opportunity to drive Solo for Hershey Dedicated (fleet HO) making some good pay for driving approximately 2200-2500 miles a week. have my own rolling Man cave and it's been 7months so far and it's been awesome, been everywhere like the Johnny Cash says, but it's true what you say you have to be flexible, keep up the good work and I enjoy your videos trk#51961 "AIRBORNE All The Way"

I did my 6 month stint at .14 cents a mile. Then worked for Schneider for a couple a months. I think I bit off more than I can chew. This is really hard. I can't get a job doing anything else. If I had to do it all over I would have gotten into the medical field. Thanks for the vid.

Very well answered!! If there is something 1 wants to do, don't let anyone stop you. Get yourself in shape & go for it. There is a lot 1 can learn about themselves when driving a truck. It seems to be a time for reinventing oneself, just to be able to survive. Things to be learned from old & young. 40+ an opportunity to restart 1's life, economic's hitting a lot of people hard. Trucking can be hard, but what isn't? And like Guilty said, its not for everyone, be honest with yourself.

I got into CDL for 2 Reasons. 1. You can be a trucker and be home nightly. Look around, no sleeper. that person goes home each night. 2. Guaranteed job anywhere you go. If you have the smarts and money. Nurses get jobs everywhere also. For me, it's CDL. Just throw a dart at the map. Check the jobs for that area. There's a good paying job waiting. That's a pretty sweet deal.

I thought this was going to be trash, but it was entertaining. I personally think mid thirties to forty is ur prime for truck driving. At that age you should be mature to handle the job. Plus kids should be old enough.

I will be 60 March 24, in a few days. I watched your video. I raised 4 sons successfully, I live alone, no obligations except to GOD and myself and I am considering truck driving school. I love being alone, love driving and would welcome the opportunity to see the US. Where do I start? Where are the best schools? I am a fast learner, I was a nurse for 17 years, a cook for forever, which is one passion, a parent and all that that implies. I'm ready to put everything in storage and just go. Your feedback would be appreciated. Also I am a loner by nature. I enjoy solitude

I'd just like to say that I don't really feel like 40 or even 50 is too old, IF the person has taking care of themselves. The standards of the DOT physical are Way tougher now then they have ever been and if they can pass that part.... then I say, welcome aboard. Cause the next phase of becoming a driver is No joke.

Lot of untruth. I started trucking at 42 and didn't have shit. Trucking has rebuilt my life. Stop discouraging someone out there with this shit. Stop giving this bullshit advice to unknowing people. It's never too late to get into trucking. Everyone's story is different in life. 14 yrs later I'm in it and loving it. My advice to anyone out there, do what the hell you want to do and don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about it. Key to life.
