Just for the people in the comments that don’t know how these things work, venues aren’t just available to anyone. They won’t open themselves up to you unless you can prove that you’ll sell and so far the only proof Hololive has in the US is the Connect the World concert. If they keep doing concerts and keep selling out then eventually bigger venues will open their doors to them but for now, this is how things are. Things went the same way in Japan. Hololive was only recently able to get bigger venues in Japan.

Indeed, progress should be in sequential steps, a leap or two, but never overestimating. An entertainment business that proves it can continuously sell out shows year on year to an increasing audience is an attractive draw, and inspires confidence. One misstep, suddenly not being able to sell out a 100%, can severely tarnish a string of successes via optics. Business deals with numbers as proof of success, not by tweets/comments/threads in SocMed boards claiming possible success.

Gigguk coins the phrase that Vtubers are basically pro wrestling, but with waifus Hololive's Japan lives are organized by Bushiroad, which owns NJPW so it's not that far off i guess, tho for a wrestlemania sized concert, i don't think they're going to attempt that anytime soon, you might see that if they can manage to sell out a concert in Tokyo Dome first, wich is 10 times bigger than the current venue they use for Holofes 5

  • @Pfish1000

They likely won't ever do that just bc those stadiums can't actually support a hololive concert with those numbers. It'd be closer to 40k tops. They can't be seating people behind the stage or have the stage in the center the way other concerts in say football arenas might

Part of the issue is venues able to have the screens necessary to display the concert at all. Concert halls/venues don't update to keep up with the technology in this regard, they're happy to just host physical shows and it's an effort on the venue's part to be able to hold vtuber/virtual concerts. Old hats that can't/won't adapt to the times.

  • @Pfish1000

A lot aren't physically set up to do it and would require major retrofit for what is a niche market. To go past 10,000 your options get very limited. You mostly gave sports venues. Hololive can't use the full potential many of those venues in the same way a traditional artist can. They need all of the audience to be in front of stage. Taylor swift for example doesn't she she can have people way off to the side. Basically using 2/3 to 3/4 of the total circular arena.

@@Pfish1000 Here's the counterpoint to all of this though, the US is more than set up across multiple cities for these kind of shows. Look at the roadshows that LoL has had in the LCS and with Worlds events. They sell out, and quick. 6k tickets is honestly a bit of a joke, and they have proof that they can sell out more by international visitors to Fes. This is even coming from someone who got tickets to both days of the concert...the second ticket I got about half hour after tickets went on sale too. The queue originally said like i was 4.5k behind in line and still got second row tickets first day.

So when it comes to venues. A lot of things have to be taken into account. 1) When can they be booked? A lot of venues are booked months in advance. Someone in the comments mentioned this theater has about a yearish booking time. 2) Cover as much as we don't want to admit it, Doesn't have much power in NA. This will change a bit once cover USA gets up and running this month but they still need more events to get chances at larger venues. Venue owners are stingy bastards. They want to believe things that they bring to their venue will sell out. And because cover has only held one show in NA, the first thing they would say is prove you can sell out shows here before coming. They have no reason to believe sales from Japan would transfer over. How is Venue owner supposed to know that, Japan and the US or NA are two totally different markets. 3) Do we really want to put pressure on cover to keep going bigger and bigger? Like i feel that is greatly ignored here. At what point are they supposed to stop? Every major event must be bigger then the last? Well that could lead to burn out or impossible standards. Cover pulled a rabbit out of their ass with FES 5, i don't expect them to aim to shoot for something much bigger then that for 6 And for sololives and other concerts, they mostly like controllable and easy to work places around the 3-8k range. The only times they have gone above that to my knowledge were fes 3/4/5 and Pekora (Correct me if i am wrong btw i can't remember all the capacities xD) Those smaller sized venues may just work a lot better for Cover production shows So i think we could see a major concert in NA at around the 10-15k range......but i highly highly doubt that Cover would go much further then that. Like even the Bukodon holds around 14k so i doubt JP concerts will get much larger because again At what point do we stop with the size increase? You eventually will get to a point where an impossible standard is expect that Cover just wouldn't be able to meet. Thank you for coming to my ted talk xD. TLDR I do believe bigger venues will come, i just don't see Cover going much further past the norm they usually do.

Finally a good opinion and not "bigger and better when, numbers speak get the money, waiting sucks" For the sake of cover and the talents i hope they remain like this. Concerts with 5k people at max, maybe one big each 5 years idk. If they want to maintain the sanity and well being of some of the girls, because not all of them have a korean obsesion like kiara or want to be eminen like calli, most of them are there just to have fun and not to die due to chronic strees and anxiety. (The jp girls love to suffer so idk) They should start to transition and let the idol culture thing as an optional path. Tsukumo Sana graduated because of this, her body wasn't in conditions to maintain the extreme idol life that cover want, dance lessons, travelling and taking unnecesary amounts of stress. The best example for this are the korean idols, i dont want that painful and grey existence for the cheerful and lively talents of hololive. The future of cover.. fk it! im going to sleep.

@@GuruFromEHRPGfinding venues much larger that can actually support the setup necessary for what hololive wants (an actual stage where it looks like they are dacing to the audience) is also very hard to come by. A lot of venues of that size are sports arenas that can hold concerts. You have to make sure what they are advertising seating wize is actual for a traditional concert hall like set-up or if it's for something closer to the super bowl halftime show where the stage is in the middle of the arena. Even one that projects out into the arena isn't particularly useful for them. They'd still only be able to make use of so much of it. If you look up concert seating for the KFC yum arena they show the seating chart for upcoming things. Hololive there could at best do the seating chart Martin Lawrence but likely would trim off the extreme wings. They couldn't make full use of the venue in the way Aerosmith is. That's one of the largest venues they could realistically use. But it's also in Louisville Kentucky and while the majority of people are going to be traveling either way, I suspect Cover wants more major locations. They also seem to like to have it during major anime conventions in order to increase the value proposition to people wanting to attend. They can get people that were already going to AnimeNYC or AX, and get people that can use the concert as an excuse to go to one of those con. I don't think it's a coincidence they chose the 2 largest animal conventions in the US as the time for their concerts.

It sold out in a literal second. It just took about an hour to process all the sales because of the queue/line system. People attempting to buy within the first second of tickets going on sale were in queue of like 15k+.

Lining up instantly at the start got you in that huge 15K. If you lined up not at the start, you had no chance. Similarly, the way the queue system works, it randomizes all the people at the very start for their queue order. The small difference of ping had no factor in your queue start, for instance.

Getting into an online queue is standard now. When Taylor Swift started her recent concert tour down Under, my friend spent the whole day in an online queue from morning till evening and failed to get tickets for any of her shows in Australia. It used to be you bought tickets online to avoid queueing in person at the ticket counter, but we seem to have gone backwards.

In New York? Kings Theatre is among the biggest, and unless you're Taylor Swift or Drake, the arenas won't give you the time of day. Now we know IRyS hasn't ever been there. Unless Holo keeps selling out smaller venues, they'll never get anything big. This sort of thing is required for other venues to even look at sn application.

@@DrOpty It's a lot to do with timing and draw power. You can say well i held a x amount of people in a venue concert here, the first thing the venue owner will say is how can i believe they will come here? The fact that ADO could only get a smaller theater in NYC says a lot because imo, she's far more marketable then Hololive.
