Never hear of Mangu - very cool learning. I have only seen plantains once in the store also but keep an eye out when i shop since i have seen a couple of recipes with them :)

Plantains are great. Mangú is one of the Dominican Republic most popular meals.

Never, ever had Mangu, but I have had Dominican friends. This looks delicious! Love the fried cheese, the platanos, the huevo....but where do I get Dominican style sausage? Thanks for sharing Kelvin, this is a wonderful Caribbean dish!

Thanks John. Ask Google for the nearest Dominican grocery store. They have the salami on amazon, but I don't think it's worth the price. Super cheap in the stores.

It was still warm. You are supposed to eat it right after you mashed the plantains. Served cold or at room temp not recommended.

If you use yellow palantains it would not be called Mangu. The flavor and texture would be different. Yellow Planatains are sweet, the green ones are not.

I tried it once. This shit is so fucking disgusting. Even my dog refuse to it this. Dominican food is shitty in general.
