I've been to two county fares, and I once saw a piss ant eat a bale of hay, but I ain't never seen nothing like that. Thirty two years in the trade, I guess times are changing. Good job! RD (retired) local 25 Detroit

Did a tilt up like this in Turlock with JD2. It was a nightmare almost every sheet of deck only had one inch bearing on one side. Had to come over and cut all the pins out and slide the sheets over.

From Local #512, stay safe brother. If I'd been the guy in the basket I would have been run off. I was taught to never be under a load on a crane. At some locations we can't even touch a load with our hands until it lands.

i donot believe that, what if u have to turn the piece, i have been an union ironworker for over 47 years, and connected for over 22 years.

@@DannyMac786 local #512 works heavily in industrial maintenance of the iron mines in northern MN. If we get caught touching a load with our hands before it lands we will be run off and not allowed to return to that location for life. In my brief 16 years in the trade I have seen several brothers run off for being under loads. I'm sure some locations are lax on adherence to safety protocols. I was simply pointing out that if it were at any location I've worked at I would have been run off. Believe it or not.

That’s that MSHA stuff. But I’ve worked up there and LAKEHEAD allowed me under the iron all the time. Depends upon the hand as well

It's part of being a connector. you do the best you can to stay out from under the load but there are times you just can't avoid it.
